The thing about the Frog Suit is that I actually love the underwater movement it brings. Swimming is infinitely more fun with Frog Suit than without it. However, I was really hoping Nintendo would fix the problem of it being infinitely less fun on land. Seriously, just make Mario walk and run normally with the Frog Suit. He can run normally with an item in hand, so why not without? I also wish he could run on water without having to carry an item. If the land movement was fixed, I'd truly believe the Frog Suit to be one of the best power-ups added to the game, especially with that running-on-water feature - that's really cool. Speaking of underwater movement...the Penguin Suit would be really nice...
The frog suit can actually be used to make a level where you see everything in a bird's eye view. (I am talking about making an illusion that makes the level feel like the first Legend of Zelda or Pokemon games on the NES)
The frog suit is for much more slower and concentrated platforming. You can also gain a lot of air momentum quickly with the frog suit, so levels where you have to touch the ground as little as possible would be good for it.

The frog suit doesn't work in standard-land levels, but well in everything else. Tech, troll, mini games and standard water levels are greatly improved. Land movement allows for interesting tech, as Mario moves in even tiles. It can also be used to create randomisers in the night-ground theme
If you notice, Super Mario Bros. 3 is the most balanced style around power ups, we have one for air (Super Leaf), one for land/attack (Fire Flower) and one for water (Frog Suit), I understand that you and others wanted Hammer Suit (even because it's much better as a power up), but for me it's the perfect balance

I like using frog on land to restrict player movement. If a player had a fro suit clear con, and you put them in a time-based survival room, the restricted movement makes it harder, while the high jumping makes it a bit easier.
Here's a unique level I made using the frog suit. PMN-G1V-LQG The idea was not fetured in the level so it is definitely worth checkinging out. Clear rate 1.54%
I think the penguin suit would have been an amazing addition because you can make cool sliding levels in the night time snow theme and it also shoots ice balls like the ice flower
I think the hammer suit AND the frog suit should've been added because of how fun the hammer suit is and the frog suit makes water levels really fun. Also, instead of the acorn suit, the penguin suit should've been added because it's the ice flower but better and the propeller suit already exists.
There should’ve been a super Mario bros Wii style, with propellor and penguin, while the super Mario bros U had acorn and something else, maybe P acorn or mini mushroom.

The Mini mushroom is one of my favourite powerups because i like the floatness of the mini mushroom I really would like to see in smm2 Yes i know i would like it to see the ice flower too but the acorn suit is very good
There us a glitch that let's you use p balloon and shellmet and it looks weird. (You need 2 player mode then give him p balloon and shellmet at same time)
Since Link is so complex, it can be hard to design a traditional level around him. However, what you can do is have the Master Sword be used to access secrets and optional rewards. You can have a level beatable as Mario, but encourage the player to keep the Master Sword. Hope this helps
I don't agree with the idea that thr frog suit was a bad idea to add. The hammer suit would only have very niche capabilities. The frog suit can make water levels more enjoyable. Still respect your opinion, but disagree strongly.
the jump detector conveyor is facing the wrong way, so yours only has a 50 50 chance of working depending on where the beetle is facing when u jump. the conveyor should push the beetle into the spring, not the switch.
When it comes to the Ice Flower I hope SMM3 would have that as a new all styles powerup like the Fire Flower. If NSMB is added as a style, maybe adding the Penguin Suit would be a good option, if NSMB isn't then the for balancing sake, maybe the Blue Shell would be better.

I think the ice flower should be like the fire flower in that it’s in every theme (minus 3D World). That way you get the great acorn suit and you get the great ice flower in multiple themes.
the shield room kinda reminds me of the undyne fight in undertale, with the shield blocking enemies that are hard to hit one after another, idk if it’s intentional but its a cool detail i noticed and the room is very cool
I've seen someone recreate a Pokemon-game by using the Frog-suit. The way it alows you to move through water simulates a top-down view very nicely. So for artsy or puzzle style levels, I think the frog suit can be quite useful!
The frog suit can lead to some really creative games like Pokémon, Zelda and more. This is due to the way it looks gives the illusion of seeing Mario from a birds-eye view (rather than side-on). It also is really good for the smb3 castle theme at night, since the colours look really nice and the frog suit makes the water actually bearable. A concept I came up with was a sort of birds-eye view of Mario kart, to make it: firstly make a vertical sub area and make it any underwater theme, (I prefer the smb3 night castle theme) and then, make a obstacle to chase Mario upwards (if it’s the castle night theme, just use the lava and make it rise fast) and add other enemies and obstacles in the way and make Mario go up until he can go through a pipe to safety.
14:29 a good example of how a frog suit could be used can go something like this: mario goes into a pipe that leads to a night time castle subarea, and he gets the frog suit too. Then, a giant wall of magma bubbles starts closing in on mario, and he has to get away fast by swimming past walls and other obstacles. This would work better than a chase scend in other areas because since mario would have water physics, he would be able to go upwards, and since mario would also have the frog suit, he wouldnt go slow either. And because it is night time castle, the enemies wouldnt be slow like they would in a general underwater level.
One thing that I want in the SMBU style is the star coins. Of course I'd love the ice flower as well. Now I also think I have an unpopular opinion about wanting the tiny mushroom in the game, I mean there are lots of possibilities, like you could make a level where you need to keep the tiny mushroom so you can get a good power up only the tiny mushroom can reach to help you out with a boss fight. Or maybe if you keep the tiny mushroom until a certain point in the level so you can get to a bunch of one ups or coins only the tiny mushroom can reach.
I believe they would do for Super Mario maker 3: Kirby star for SMB 1(also give master sword it’s separate slot), hammer and tanooki suit in SMB3, Yoshi Wing and Carrot(The Mario Land 2 one) in SMW, Ice Flower and Penguin suit in NSMBU, finally lucky cat bell, double cherry, light box and shell mask in 3D world. They can have Mega Mushroom in 3D world and Mini Mushroom(Variant of mushroom) in NSMBU at update 2.0. Baby Yoshi, red coin ring and Star Coin would be cool, perhaps some new themes like mountain, volcano, tower and beach, have different ‘world style’ for super world and secret exit, bigger map and up to 8 levels in a world, would be cool to have a bonus World 9 too. They can have new enemies like fuzzies, rock spike or cat goombas. Finally, a new Super Mario Galaxy Game style, bringing gravity curve blocks, launch star, sling star, pull star, sling pod and multiple star objective in a single level, new power up like bee, boo, spring mushroom, galaxy version of the ice and fire flower, rainbow star, cloud flower, rock mushroom and spin drill, they can have a Yoshi update with dash pepper, blimp fruit and bulb berry. touch block in 3D world would be cool too. New element like scale lift, stretch blocks, hollow terrain(like some of the secret in NSMBU hidden behind walls) and grab blocks(also stones like story mode). They can have update for a SM64 game style with power up like wing cap, vanish cap and metal cap, a 3D maker just like the world maker brought in the 3.0 update of maker 2.
I like the frog suit because I just generally like underwater levels. The p balloon is the actual worst power up just due to how hard it is to work with when making a level
Odyssey Central I enjoy watching your SMM2 videos, but there is one thing I disagree with. I find the frogsuit to be really useful in underwater or Pac-Man levels. I think the hammer suit would've been more underwhelming compared to the frog suit actually. The hammer suit would be similar to the fire flower, which already has two similar power-ups being the boomerang flower and superball flower, this would make the hammer suit be a lot more forgettable since besides a few minor changes (going through objects, killing a few more enemies than the other 3, and traveling in an arc) it's basically the same power-up. Although if every power up was in all of the styles I think the penguin suit would've been better since it would have extra abilities, but since Nintendo really wants style exclusive items than the frog suit I think was the best choice.
Frog suit is somewhat underrated. It does kind of suck, but don’t get mad at a water power up for being bad on land. It’s like shaming the fish bones on land. Fish bones for Mario kart.
I dont like the frog suit but I think it is better for mm2 than the hammer suit would’ve been. It makes underwater levels more fun which is great for people who want to make a water level for a traditional super world or something.
The Master Sword is also useful in a situation when you want to force a player down to small mario. Since picking up a Master Sword always gives mario the power-up regardless of his current power-up status, you could have a player fall down, hitting a Master Sword and then some grinders.
You’ve given me loads of ideas for the Master Sword and SMB2 Mushroom (I like to call it the Subcon Mushroom). Only problem: both of my chargers are lost.

I feel like you made a lot of points about the frog suit that are true (It doesn’t have very many uses, it doesn’t work well in most levels, etc.) But I feel like it’s not really meant to be judged by the same criteria as the master sword or the boomerang flower. Those power ups are like basically all other power ups in the game, where they are somewhat useful in helping Mario in any given level. But the frog suit is different because it changes the gameplay of the level so drastically, due to having movement in 4 directions without gravity. The frog suit isn’t meant for Mario levels, it’s meant for themed levels. I played one level starring the frog suit that was like the original LoZ game and it was probably the best level I’ve played yet. Sure, it’s only good in 3 themes (not counting day forest since it’s only partially water) but what it does in those 3 themes is something that isn’t even close to being possible with any other power up in any other theme. Even though it’s technically a water level, you can make it anything you want, not just make it a side scrolling level. The frog suit to me is more like a game style than a power up as if you think outside the box of “side scrolling water level” you can do things with it that just aren’t possible in Mario Maker. That’s why it’s my favorite DLC power up, even though I love the SMB2 Mushroom. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk and I hope this somewhat clarifies why people like the frog suit.
New powerups for mario maker 3: smb1: Gravity mushroom Properties (since this is a new powerup): It causes the gravity of whatever touches it (even enemies and other powerups) to change in the direction of the creator's choice (also it will disappear when any of the things I mentioned touches it). Also the creator can choose to make the powerup give the player that touches it a powerup when said player touches it. This powerup doesn't move. Reason: smb1 is the gimmicky style. It has a mushroom that makes you fat, a mushroom that gives you different interactions with enemies (and some items), a fire flower that acts like the dvd logo, a powerup that turns you into link, and a key that makes this mask chase you. It also has more chaotic properties. This is one of the styles where the koopalings jump in their shells and instead of a yoshi, there is this SHOE WITH A GOOMBA INSIDE THAT ATTACKS YOU. Sure the wind turns on and off, but it is also against you. Also, in the dark themes the light is smaller (which is still a bad thing). Night gimmick: It will follow the closest player at the speed of a walking player and will not stop (it can not go diagonally and will horizontally chase them first). smb3: Hammer suit Reasons: 1. It is the only powerup left that isn't world map exclusive or a tanooki suit. 2. It is a good powerup in general. Night gimmick: The hammer will fly in the direction of the player's choice and will only go in that direction. Fact: When I went to figure out what powerups I had the person showed the frog suit first for some reason. smw (this one was a bit of a stretch but I had no other choices): Wings Properties (since this is kinda a new powerup): Once you get it you are able to fly up at any time very slowly. To use it you mash the jump button and the speed will depend how fast you mash it but it is still slow so it's better to use it for falling slowly. You can fly up to 15 blocks. If you get on yoshi you fly up to 20 blocks. This powerup doesn't move. Reasons: 1. This was in super mario world after you swallow a purple shell. 2. There are no other powerups again. Night gimmick: It will horizontally fly away from players. nsmbu: Mini mushroom Reasons: 1. The mini mushroom is underrated. 2. It's cool in general. 3. It can make levels harder without being annoying. 4. It can run on water in less specific circumstances. 5. It works AMAZING in traditional levels. 6. This can be the chance to add in mini pipes in nsmbu Night gimmick: It does what the mushroom does in the night theme but jumps higher. The reasons that I didn't do the ice flower were: 1. Mario maker has different grabbing physics from nsmbu. You grab from the front and use one button in Mario maker. In nsmbu you grab from the top and use two buttons. 2. This would mean that frozen enemies would exist and their would probably be a riot if they didn't exist outside of the ice flower. 3. The fire flower does not melt frozen enemies from the ice flower. In nsmbu it is very hard to get the fire flower and ice flower to exist in the same room but in mario maker 3 it would be easy. 4. It would be hard to use outside of traditional levels without an sd lock. sm3dw: 1. Invisible mushroom Properties (since this is kinda a new powerup): When the powerup is out of the block it is a transparent mushroom. This powerup acts like the invisible cap where you can go through walls. This time you can go through all walls except ground. You can not go through enemies and powerups though. Doing so will make you lose the powerup. This also has the side affect of making it hard to see yourself and know your location. It doesn't make you invisible though. This powerup lasts for 30 seconds if you don't lose it. This powerup moves. Reason: They did this before with the hammer suit. sm3dw: 2. Tanooki suit Reason: Might as well add this one because why not?
I’m just wondering why Nintendo initially chose the Propeller Mushroom for NSMBU over the Super Acorn, the main power-up of NSMBU! You could say that the propeller mushroom is better, but I actually don’t think that. It was such a weird decision, but at least we have the acorn in the game!
I'm a bit sad they didn't add more ones like the Master Sword or Dream Mushroom, I'd love to see the Screw Attack that gives Mario Samus' abilities or something, or maybe one that gives him Yoshi's abilities from Yoshi's Island

The frog suit can lead to some really creative games like Pokémon, Zelda and more. This is due to the way it looks gives the illusion of seeing Mario from a birds-eye view (rather than side-on). It also is really good for the smb3 castle theme at night, since the colours look really nice and the frog suit makes the water actually bearable. A concept I came up with was a sort of birds-eye view of Mario kart, to make it: firstly make a vertical sub area and make it any underwater theme, (I prefer the smb3 night castle theme) and then, make a obstacle to chase Mario upwards (if it’s the castle night theme, just use the lava and make it rise fast) and add other enemies and obstacles in the way and make Mario go up until he can go through a pipe to safety.
14:29 a good example of how a frog suit could be used can go something like this: mario goes into a pipe that leads to a night time castle subarea, and he gets the frog suit too. Then, a giant wall of magma bubbles starts closing in on mario, and he has to get away fast by swimming past walls and other obstacles. This would work better than a chase scend in other areas because since mario would have water physics, he would be able to go upwards, and since mario would also have the frog suit, he wouldnt go slow either. And because it is night time castle, the enemies wouldnt be slow like they would in a general underwater level.
One thing that I want in the SMBU style is the star coins. Of course I'd love the ice flower as well. Now I also think I have an unpopular opinion about wanting the tiny mushroom in the game, I mean there are lots of possibilities, like you could make a level where you need to keep the tiny mushroom so you can get a good power up only the tiny mushroom can reach to help you out with a boss fight. Or maybe if you keep the tiny mushroom until a certain point in the level so you can get to a bunch of one ups or coins only the tiny mushroom can reach.

I believe they would do for Super Mario maker 3:
Kirby star for SMB 1(also give master sword it’s separate slot), hammer and tanooki suit in SMB3, Yoshi Wing and Carrot(The Mario Land 2 one) in SMW, Ice Flower and Penguin suit in NSMBU, finally lucky cat bell, double cherry, light box and shell mask in 3D world. They can have Mega Mushroom in 3D world and Mini Mushroom(Variant of mushroom) in NSMBU at update 2.0. Baby Yoshi, red coin ring and Star Coin would be cool, perhaps some new themes like mountain, volcano, tower and beach, have different ‘world style’ for super world and secret exit, bigger map and up to 8 levels in a world, would be cool to have a bonus World 9 too. They can have new enemies like fuzzies, rock spike or cat goombas. Finally, a new Super Mario Galaxy Game style, bringing gravity curve blocks, launch star, sling star, pull star, sling pod and multiple star objective in a single level, new power up like bee, boo, spring mushroom, galaxy version of the ice and fire flower, rainbow star, cloud flower, rock mushroom and spin drill, they can have a Yoshi update with dash pepper, blimp fruit and bulb berry. touch block in 3D world would be cool too. New element like scale lift, stretch blocks, hollow terrain(like some of the secret in NSMBU hidden behind walls) and grab blocks(also stones like story mode). They can have update for a SM64 game style with power up like wing cap, vanish cap and metal cap, a 3D maker just like the world maker brought in the 3.0 update of maker 2.

Odyssey Central I enjoy watching your SMM2 videos, but there is one thing I disagree with. I find the frogsuit to be really useful in underwater or Pac-Man levels. I think the hammer suit would've been more underwhelming compared to the frog suit actually. The hammer suit would be similar to the fire flower, which already has two similar power-ups being the boomerang flower and superball flower, this would make the hammer suit be a lot more forgettable since besides a few minor changes (going through objects, killing a few more enemies than the other 3, and traveling in an arc) it's basically the same power-up. Although if every power up was in all of the styles I think the penguin suit would've been better since it would have extra abilities, but since Nintendo really wants style exclusive items than the frog suit I think was the best choice.

Frog suit is somewhat underrated. It does kind of suck, but don’t get mad at a water power up for being bad on land. It’s like shaming the fish bones on land. Fish bones for Mario kart.

I dont like the frog suit but I think it is better for mm2 than the hammer suit would’ve been. It makes underwater levels more fun which is great for people who want to make a water level for a traditional super world or something.

The Master Sword is also useful in a situation when you want to force a player down to small mario. Since picking up a Master Sword always gives mario the power-up regardless of his current power-up status, you could have a player fall down, hitting a Master Sword and then some grinders.

I feel like you made a lot of points about the frog suit that are true (It doesn’t have very many uses, it doesn’t work well in most levels, etc.) But I feel like it’s not really meant to be judged by the same criteria as the master sword or the boomerang flower. Those power ups are like basically all other power ups in the game, where they are somewhat useful in helping Mario in any given level. But the frog suit is different because it changes the gameplay of the level so drastically, due to having movement in 4 directions without gravity. The frog suit isn’t meant for Mario levels, it’s meant for themed levels. I played one level starring the frog suit that was like the original LoZ game and it was probably the best level I’ve played yet. Sure, it’s only good in 3 themes (not counting day forest since it’s only partially water) but what it does in those 3 themes is something that isn’t even close to being possible with any other power up in any other theme. Even though it’s technically a water level, you can make it anything you want, not just make it a side scrolling level. The frog suit to me is more like a game style than a power up as if you think outside the box of “side scrolling water level” you can do things with it that just aren’t possible in Mario Maker. That’s why it’s my favorite DLC power up, even though I love the SMB2 Mushroom. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk and I hope this somewhat clarifies why people like the frog suit.

New powerups for mario maker 3:
smb1: Gravity mushroom
Properties (since this is a new powerup):
It causes the gravity of whatever touches it (even enemies and other powerups) to change in the direction of the creator's choice (also it will disappear when any of the things I mentioned touches it). Also the creator can choose to make the powerup give the player that touches it a powerup when said player touches it. This powerup doesn't move.
Reason:
smb1 is the gimmicky style. It has a mushroom that makes you fat, a mushroom that gives you different interactions with enemies (and some items), a fire flower that acts like the dvd logo, a powerup that turns you into link, and a key that makes this mask chase you. It also has more chaotic properties. This is one of the styles where the koopalings jump in their shells and instead of a yoshi, there is this SHOE WITH A GOOMBA INSIDE THAT ATTACKS YOU. Sure the wind turns on and off, but it is also against you. Also, in the dark themes the light is smaller (which is still a bad thing).
Night gimmick:
It will follow the closest player at the speed of a walking player and will not stop (it can not go diagonally and will horizontally chase them first).
smb3: Hammer suit
Reasons:
1. It is the only powerup left that isn't world map exclusive or a tanooki suit.
2. It is a good powerup in general.
Night gimmick:
The hammer will fly in the direction of the player's choice and will only go in that direction.
Fact:
When I went to figure out what powerups I had the person showed the frog suit first for some reason.

Properties (since this is kinda a new powerup):
Once you get it you are able to fly up at any time very slowly. To use it you mash the jump button and the speed will depend how fast you mash it but it is still slow so it's better to use it for falling slowly. You can fly up to 15 blocks. If you get on yoshi you fly up to 20 blocks. This powerup doesn't move.
Reasons:
1. This was in super mario world after you swallow a purple shell.
2. There are no other powerups again.
Night gimmick: It will horizontally fly away from players.
nsmbu: Mini mushroom
Reasons:
1. The mini mushroom is underrated.
2. It's cool in general.
3. It can make levels harder without being annoying.
4. It can run on water in less specific circumstances.
5. It works AMAZING in traditional levels.
6. This can be the chance to add in mini pipes in nsmbu
Night gimmick: It does what the mushroom does in the night theme but jumps higher.
The reasons that I didn't do the ice flower were:
1. Mario maker has different grabbing physics from nsmbu. You grab from the front and use one button in Mario maker. In nsmbu you grab from the top and use two buttons.
2. This would mean that frozen enemies would exist and their would probably be a riot if they didn't exist outside of the ice flower.
3. The fire flower does not melt frozen enemies from the ice flower. In nsmbu it is very hard to get the fire flower and ice flower to exist in the same room but in mario maker 3 it would be easy.
4. It would be hard to use outside of traditional levels without an sd lock.

1. Invisible mushroom
Properties (since this is kinda a new powerup):
When the powerup is out of the block it is a transparent mushroom. This powerup acts like the invisible cap where you can go through walls. This time you can go through all walls except ground. You can not go through enemies and powerups though. Doing so will make you lose the powerup. This also has the side affect of making it hard to see yourself and know your location. It doesn't make you invisible though. This powerup lasts for 30 seconds if you don't lose it. This powerup moves.
Reason:
They did this before with the hammer suit.

I’m just wondering why Nintendo initially chose the Propeller Mushroom for NSMBU over the Super Acorn, the main power-up of NSMBU! You could say that the propeller mushroom is better, but I actually don’t think that. It was such a weird decision, but at least we have the acorn in the game!

I'm a bit sad they didn't add more ones like the Master Sword or Dream Mushroom, I'd love to see the Screw Attack that gives Mario Samus' abilities or something, or maybe one that gives him Yoshi's abilities from Yoshi's Island
