- Ancient biography differs in some ways from its modern cousin. But how? In this video, Mike Licona examines the ancient biographer Plutarch and discerns a number of compositional devices he employed that resulted in differences between his own accounts. Mike then examines the Gospels and concludes that their authors employed similar devices that resulted in a number of the differences observed between them.
I reading your boo it's has so strong argument thank you for your time to glorifies God.
Hy Dr.lichona I would be very happy to discuss the gospels with you as a muslim and give you my point of view on what I believe about the gospels.looking forward for you're response have a nice day.
We're not talking about biographies of ancient Roman individuals but the Word of God. That's what needs to be distinguished.
Matthew, you need to start by reading carefully the three accounts, including Luke's, the details are so clear, to the careful reader, they harmonize beautifully. No need to read Plutarch's compression into the gospels, a simple reading shows that the gospels are not the full timeline of events and therefore 'compressed'. Harmonization can only done by a believer in the honesty of the Apostles and in the promise of God to preserve His word! No need to imagine 'compositional devices' for the gospels, but simply have faith that the NT writers were moved by the Holy Spirit to write and wrote only under His inspiration. i must say that your conclusions are rather inspired by Plutarch!
Faith doesn't work to criticism just arguments so his book it's good about it.
