- Techies. The name alone evokes a certain kind of reaction. On-top of being the most rage-inspiring character in Dota, Techies is the troll pick that all others wish they could be.
So what exactly is this hero and why it such a nightmare?

If you have played techies a minimum of 200, tume goes from 50-80 mins to 220+ mins
i had a game that lasted 3 fuckin hours because techies, and divines where scattered everywhere in the map being thrown as if it were just an iron wood branch.

@@ZZ-si5ku I love playing Techies. I'm that person who buys tons of mana regen and a TP to first blood by mining the shop. That said, Techies' greatest weakness is that it's at its best when the team plays with you. The team skill cap to play with Techies is also extremely high. What good is it to have explosive wards all around the map if your team can't make use of that vision? Or eternally cutting waves if nobody is doing anything else around the map? Or mining the escape from T3 pushes if your team won't focus down whoever gets a gem on the other side? Or (insert stuff that needs to happen, but doesn't)... Even OG couldn't pull it off at TI9, as the insane amount of pings from Jerax against Vici managed to demonstrate. They got close, but no cigar, as they were up against one of the best Abaddons ever.

Sure dagger has low cd but you need an iten slot for it and it doesnt give extra stats and worst of all it cost 2200 which can be used for other items while lol has flash an extra spell that doesnt need gold or an item slot. Scroll portals? Pfft free recalls for everyone and a teleport spell if you like it. Aegis of immortal? Haha guardian angel...bkb? Dont need that sh.t when every adc in league is gonna auto attack you in the face like vayne for e.g.
Blade mail active? Thornmail passive! Although blademail is op because spells also counts in return damage.

Just in time after OG pulled it out just to have fun in a game that didn't matter to anyone (because they were already fixed at #1 in their group and their opponents at #2). It was hilarious! Every player involved loved it.

Teemo isn't hard to play but similar to techies, his skill cap is quite high since both characters run off psychology and mental warfare, especially if you're up against a wild card teemo player. Against techies, it's the fog abuse that makes him ridiculously difficult to play since he can set up traps that no one notices unless they have prior vision, summons, or a ridiculously tanky hero on the front line. Teemo has literally only 3 ways to be played: Right click ap, pure ap or pure ad. All 3 work but they limit him severely due to where he caps off at.

I've been trying to get both techies and gyro in underlords for 20 or so unranked matches and just managed to do it in two of them (I guess they increased the odds even more in normal matches)
They realized scrappy is too shitty and made sniper a scrappy hero, thank God but yet again, by the time you get to finish your scrappy squad game's pretty much over
I love playing scrappy but the new thing in which every 10 rounds you lose one more health pretty much destroyed the scrappy build

Give that blink to a 3star tinker or timber and get a refresher for techies, let him tank and get some mana by doing so and that's how you manage to make him ult properly
If you have a blink, void stone and refresher give the blink to timber/tinker, void stone to tinker (since when he's 3star he has no cd and does massive dmg) and give that refresher to techies (if you have two give it to gyro) and take care of sniper as he does tons of dmg when he's enabled to

Teemo places mushrooms that are invisible which on explosion eats enemy health slowly(more like poison).
Not as deadly as techies but still annoying. Teemo is different because he himself can get invisible when standing in one place for more than 2 sec which makes him even more annoying.

In all of my years playing dota, Techies is the only hero that managed to make me actually ragequit. It feels shit to have him on your team, it feels shit to play against him and, unless you are a psychopath, it feels shit to play as Techies. Techies is so broken in Turbo. No wards = no push. A game of 15-30 mins. becomes 50-60 mins. game because of him.
in turbo techies sucks. As 6min sentries are bane for invisers and you have no time to place mines while your throne blowing up.
nightyonetwothree I fought a techies opponent in Turbo that made the game a living nightmare. We only won because their one player is afk. I don’t wanna judge or compare but the techies player kept laughing at us while we were dying.
Techies is my favorite hero. No other hero in DotA forces the enemy team to think so carefully about where they exist on the map. No other character rewards not mechanical skill and timing but theoretical knowledge and ability to manipilate the human mind.
It had relevance in the competative scene since ages. No one remembers the legendary tourney game of a pinoy team with mid techies with 2 rapiers in dota 1? Something like 15 years ago?

That's the reason I always take shots when EG loses games.
How Aui_2000 is the only person who can utilize Techies and supp Naga Siren in TI5 play a huge factor on their winning. With teams can only ban 5 heroes with 2 heroes at the beginning of the match force any team who face EG needs to ban one of those or even both of the heroes. So Sumail/Fear/Universe can get their comfort hero pretty much on any game.
The fun fact is, in TI8, OG have nearly same advantage like EG in TI5 with Topson is the only player who utilize Quas Wex Invoker and Arc Warden make team forced to ban or play against a hero that nobody ever learn how to play against before.

Techies has been buffed basically each patch (directly or indirectly) since his rework. I honestly think he is a good early game roamer with his blast off and can use the time rotating plating annoying traps. Then he scales into the lategame especially when people have long respawns with no buyback as it gives him time to remine everything. Then blows up the enemy base with 1000 remote mines marching down mid at 1 mile per hour.
The hero I depend upon when my team mates picked 4 man core team hahahaha

I'm not a main, I like picking it from time to time, even though I'm hopelessly shit at the hero.
They're infuriating to play against and hard to play around as a draft, but I love this hero anyway.
They're by far the most unique design in the game. Every MOBA, no, every remotely RPG'ey game has their nukers, their warriors, their healing, supportive types, aura carriers...
You show me a hero that plays even remotely (I'm sorry) like Techies do.
A good Techies player can single-handedly limit where the enemy team can safely move and create ridiculous amounts of space through pure mental pressure alone.
A bad Techies is just a waste of a slot, and due to how unusual the hero's mechanics are, it can be difficult to tell a good Techies player from a bad one, especially when you yourself aren't very experienced with the game.
But trust me, you WILL recognize a great Techies player.

I actually hate the fact that people are treating Techies as a 'game ruiner'. You actually need skill to use Techies efficiently, you have to know where your enemies will be in the next two minutes, you have to know where your team will fight to set the mines. After the rework, he's not even broken anymore. Heck, the only reason I can think of why Techies is 'broken' is because people just don't know how to play against him.
Also, think the fact that 75% of Dota pub players never brought detection item helps.
The problem is that, back then ALL the mines can be seen with true sight. Now, Proximity mines can't be seen by True Sight, and only appears when someone walks near it. There are many, many ways to dodge it tho, also sound cues.
@@kami_narisama The sound will still alert you even though you can't see it. If you compare with the old mines where it'll basically a guaranteed kill if you stack them at high ground cause you can't see them. Now you can hear the sound at least.
@@lyonvensa While yes, the sound cue really helps a lot (which they actually don't have at the very early stage of his rework) the problem is that oftentimes the mine would explode first before anyone have any chance to find it. Not helping is that Sentry is limited to only 10 in store now, making you have to use it wisely.
Also, if you hit level 25, you pretty much revert to old Techies, as you can move the mines so that they stack each other.
I got an overwatch case where the "offender" was seeminly reported for...picking Techies lol

I learned that you should never queue immediately after you just finished ur 2hr game with techies since he will hunt you again the next match... Learned it the hard way playing with the same techies 2 matches in a row for 5 & 1/2 hrs
