I have owned both . The UN is by far a superior watch in every aspect. Rolex , with very few exceptions, is engineered with the 72 year old man from Cape Cod or the Hamptons in mind. UN is a much more attractive and adventurous brand with the marketers looking for buyers in Dubai , Monaco and international destinations. Hands down UN over Rolex.
That is a hilarious but accurate stereotype :) Yes, UN is definitely a league above. Also, with Rolex, there is always a”jingly jangly Jubilee guy” with a Jubilee bracelet that is stretched and doesn’t fit.

I love ulysse nardin but i hate the price of ulysse nardin,they are probably very good watches but why so expensive
In the past, it was easy to negotiate steep discounts at the AD but not anymore.
I don’t buy watches as investment pieces but for enjoyment. ETA movement are easy fix, Rolex and Omega used them. Their is more details in the U N than on the other divers….why follow the flock. If you are a wolf with means….buy whatever you like!
I agree. The UN is a more detailed piece. I love a little of everything but haven’t gotten into the micro-brands yet.
I think UN is a haute horology level manufacturer but this one uses ETA 2892. I think what really make it not sticking with a lot of collectors is the over-inflated MSRP (most of the pieces are 40-50% off on Jomashop and other gray markets) which leads to heavy dumping of stock. And also a lot of big brands are making VERY GOOD divers. Why would this charge 9000 MSRP if an equivalent Breitling superocean heritage or Tudor (both better known brands) have a better in-house chronometer certified movement for 1/2 the money? Even the new Seamaster is thousands less. Dive watches are very competitive now among swiss brands and even an average watch enthiusiast will typically only have 1-2 in a collection, which makes it very hard to pick this one.
This is definitely not a piece to purchase anywhere close to MSRP or for potential “investment potential.” With that said, it feels great on the wrist and stands out from the pack. #UN
Because the missing link in your equation is the fit and finish of the UN blows away the other watches you mentioned. Breitling and omega are not equivalents to this watch in any way. Also that "better" in house movement is mostly marketing b.s. Not to mention UN works over that eta movement to the point its pretty much in house and no longer a base movement. They change things on it and tune it to profection as well as building a custom in house power reserve meter and small second module. Just about the only metric you can point to a Tudor or omega movement being better is the power reserve stats... And in the real world that's just about meaningless when talking 42 up to 55. Big deal.... Omega is a basic eta movement also with an escapement they bought from someone else and slowed down the beat rate to get a better power reserve on paper for the people who buy watches based on stats. Really its nothing special but all the marketing hype has people thing its "in house" magic inside the Seamaster case. And I'm saying this as someone who owns an SMP and I do not currently own a UN but I will in the future. I have seen many in person and the quality is undeniable.
Just found your video - the close-ups are appreciated. But seriously dude - if you are going to do a video on a product, the least you could do is learn how to pronounce the manufacturer's name correctly.........

I certainly like UN a LOT more than rolex, and would much rather own one. Yes, they hold time a little less and their diver watches aren't rated for quite as deep, but I'm not a professional diver. I would rather take the watch that has comparable quality but looks better/is more interesting.
Actually this UN reference is rated to 300 meters / 1000 feet. They’re definitely less common than Rolex. I haven’t seen a single person in public wearing a Ulysse Nardin.
@@IrixGuy I was going off the highest rated divers from each. Not seeing anyone wear it is kind of the point.
I have a Ulysses nardin that I’m looking to sell to a motivated buyer/ collector. It’s a 2010 marine diver commemorating the 2010 Monaco yacht show. Black on black with hint of blue Beautiful condition. Limited edition.

It runs more than 170 years and reliable, technologically superior than Rolex . Ulysse Narain is better than Rolex in all aspects. I appreciate sometimes Rolex because some of their innovation and uniqueness. If you consider Ulysse Narsingh and compare with Rolex . I am sure Rolex is nothing in front of this brand. General people doesn’t have knowledge and information about watches they run after media hype. There are minimum 10 Brands better than Rolex . Truth sucks.

@@IrixGuy They have the highest number of the watch patient rights in entire world. There is no chance to come close near this company in the next hundreds years. I want to buy a watch from this brand. I have already officine panerai. Still I would like to have from this legendary brand.
