    Today I wore a covering in my church for the first time. I am there only one there who covers my head (for now) but I didn't feel weird about it. As you said in your previous video it's between me and God and I don't care what anyone else thinks. Wow. For the first time in my adult life I don't care what anyone else thinks. That is a powerful statement! Praise God. He is so mighty. Anyway... I wore a scarf on my head.

    I have recently been feeling the call to cover my head and right now I've just been using a beanie. Ive tried using scarves but I havent been successful with those yet. Thank you for clarifying that the type of covering isnt really important!

      I wear my beanie all the time it's my go to. I wear scarves when I dress up outside the house and for church. I personally dont like double wrapping my head I usually only do 1 layer and tie twice in the back having tails or doing side tails. I've been looking into veil and shawls, hoods, easy breezy kinda style. Currently looking for an underscarf I can wear like I do my beanie and then have shawls and scarfs I can just grab and drape over my head and go. Thinking like old Hollywood glam if I was to go riding in a convertible with the top down lol. I have looked a lot at russian women and tons of old pictures throughout history, looking at folk clothes is fun. Some do the simplest scarf just thrown over the shoulder. I like the pictures of women who cover like the pictures of the virgin Mary. I either drape like that or I tie 2 knots in the back so it's either 2 tails or 1 tail in a princess veil type tie. So if I'm at the youth ministry I'm ok wearing my beanie but if I'm at our regular service I wear a scarf, I was so bold I wore a beautiful white scarf in a princess veil last week to church. Ppl really don't notice because we are a racially mixed church, some ppl cover for hair reasons some might cover for religion and for me I'm not caring y others at church cover but it does make it easier for me. It might be more obvious on some than others. No ones ever asked me.

    Thank you for these videos. This is my second time head covering. In the past, I have allowed other people opinions to influence my decisions. This year, I'm more spiritually mature, and I don't care what others say. I now cover full-time. I am currently wearing veils, winter hats, and scarfs for head coverings. I love it, I feel closer to our Lord. Thank you for the videos and support. ❤️

    I started this journey today! I have a wide headband for the moment, but I did find a relatively cheap lace tie head covering coming in the mail soon! I don't know that I've been more excited to be obedient in something. This journey really brings me joy in humility, and surrender. My husband is joyful in my journey and is pleased with seeing me so into scripture.

    I typically dress vintage. So I wear vintage 1940s hats. It's kind of my incognito way of covering because people just assume I'm just dressing vintage. Because I don't really want to draw attention to myself.

    I’m considering starting to veil regularly. My first real experience with it was earlier this year when Iw as an extra on a first-century TV show and had to cover my head for 2 weeks, and I have to admit that I liked it. Something about the thought of covering my head and following scriptures feels so gentle and soft and modest. ❤

    I was in a church many years ago who used head coverings when praying, so I am failure with it, but haven't been wearing a head covering since. I had covid in December, and my hair has been "shedding" for about 3 or 4 weeks now, and is getting very thin. I did get a shorter hair cut when the shedding started. I was researching head covers, and found this channel. Wow, I am so amazed at the Biblical truth on why to cover my head. I've ordered some pre-tied scarves to start. Thank you for such good videos.

    I bought 3 different wide headbands to start. They were also 3 different styles to see what I like. One with a lace edge widens to 14", a stretchy one widens to 9", and a plain black one that widens to 5". Super easy to wear all the time and widen them out over my head when needed. Now I feel much more comfortable wearing the longest one fully extended at church.

    A Christians woman's head covering or prayer veiling I don't feel should be a ball cap or a headband there's no sign of separation in those ,but a special head veiling ,there's all different types that are more appropriate than ball cap or something like that. "My personal feelings".

      I too, feel that a covering is different from a hat worn for head protection (like a warm knit cap for the cold weather or a rain bonnet). But they do in a pinch, nothing wrong there. And as the video states, they are wonderful for transitioning into this change, and may be less unsettling to ones’ family/friends/self consciousness than a sudden change.

    When I first started head covering I was totally clueless about what to wear, and having always felt my hair didn't go well with hats I didn't even have a hat -- other than a winter wool hat. That was back in 2018 and I didn't see many options. I ended up buying somewhat Muslum style head coverings in different colors, but I never felt comfortable in them. I felt they were ugly on me (to be honest -- and that's because of some extra weight), and I worried that I looked Muslim. I ended up returning to not covering my head after a week-long stay in the hospital where I never wore a covering. I just kind of breathed a sigh of relief and dropped the idea entirely (partly because most of my focus was on health issues and not head covering issues as well). I ended up giving all but one of my "new" coverings to a thrift store, not wanting to wear them again.
    Then in 2023 I found myself wanting to wear a head covering again but determined to find something that felt more natural to me and would go better with my clothing. I also returned to wearing long skirts. This time I am finding a LOT of head covering videos online and lots of head covering choices I really didn't seem to run into before -- or didn't notice. I am LOVING wearing the "triangle bandana" style, tied at the nape of the neck. With hair coming out the bottom I do not feel I look like a Muslim anymore (though my housemate, another Christian woman, says I look Russian, haha). It is so easy to wear and I got it in linen because I live in an area that gets very hot and I know 100% flax linen is much better for super hot environments, while at the same time it can be warming to some extent even in the cold.
    I also like to cover my head when I am sleeping ("because of the angels" from 1 Corinthians 11). I had a hard time finding something that would be easy to sleep in and also not fall off easily. I discovered that a cotton "neck gaiter" -- often used for Covid masking by some people -- works great for me. I just pull it down over my head and then back up to my hairline and the length of the "gaiter" covers my hair all the way past my shoulders several inches. It's very comfortable. I ended up getting two different kinds. One was cheaper (on Etsy) at 10 dollars, but the one I got during Covid masking was closer to 16 dollars, is better quality and better made and overall just better. (I got that one on Amazon, never guessing I would use it as a nightcap!) The same gaiter can also be bunched up different ways to wear like a wide headband, but I have not experimented with that much, at least not yet.
    I thought it was a relief to stop wearing the head coverings that made me worry I looked like a Muslim was a very tiny relief compared to the relief I find now, over 4 years later, by getting back into head covering. And this whole episode of stopping for so long is a BIG reminder to me how easily I can get off the straight and narrow if I don't daily make sure to STAY ON IT. I have a sort of lifetime bad habit of throwing "the baby out with the bathwater," and I know I need to work on this more now as well.
    Last but not least, I am the only person I know who head covers. All times considered at this point I have only covered my head for a little over four months, but in all that time not one person has asked me about it, though I have chosen to talk about it to my closest friends. Oh, and I'm turning 70 this year. Better late than never, but how I regret not having come to the straight and narrow much, much, much earlier in life...!!!
    God bless!

    The Bible in Corinthians says your hair is your glory and to cover your glory with a veil when in the presence of God or prophesying which would also mean teaching about God in any way. If you start teaching or talking about God in public others will look on (this happens to me sometimes). We must be prepared then by having our heads covered as Corinthians says it is power on our heads.

As a black woman my hair grows differently it grows big and like a cotton ball. Since I notice that you don't cover all your hair is it ok if my head covering is at the top of my head underparts of my afro that still allow me to wear my heart as a black woman and not have my hair away tied up or back. It is beautiful to see your deep conviction that this is God's plan for us as Christian women according to 1 Corinthians 11 and your heart to help women ease into making this change. I am careful not to judge others about their headcovering style, but was a bit unclear about the ball cap. Then God helped me see that it's because the ball cap is more of a man's headwear. I believe a ball cap takes away the femininity of a headcovering even when feminized with colors or accessories to make them appealing to women. It is a subtle blurring of men/women clothing styles. Just offering this for your consideration, but still not judging if God convicts you differently.

    There are many comfortable head covering options. Some of us do not want to attract attention to our heads because we may live in parts of the world where there are nearly no covering women at all and that tends to be the areas where a women will get noticed, questioned, possibly even accused of legalism, or other actions. I did find hoodies to be very easy when I was new to this 30 years ago. Also, any cotton or comfortable beanie in your pocket or purse is a good option for those who may be timid about it, or live among people who try to discourage them from covering. As the video said, scarves, expandable cloth headbands, sun hats, church hats, berets...etc., they all cover the head. The Biblical passage that teaches this is 1 Corinthians chapter 11:2-16 and it provides 3 reasons “why” yet does not prescribe any particular color or style. Yes a ball cap certainly covers a head and may be appropriate in some churches, for some women. For me personally it is a bit too masculine looking, but I would never judge any type of covering. Any head covering is going to be approved of by me, thanks to this New Testament teaching, and the color, shape, and style are up to each Christian woman to find. Thank you!!

But on warmer days I've been wearing a scarf. I find the most challenging thing is that if I'm going to be somewhere indoors for example at a bar. It is not practical to wear a hat unless it's cold. So then I'd need to take an alternative covering to put on. I feel a bit awkward doing this in public. So I'm not sure how to approach this yet. Maybe wearing something like a bandana under my beanie. I'll have to see what works.

      Hi Leshae, I'm so sorry you're feeling that way. The Lord being pleased with you is not determined by what you wear or what you do, but because you're his child through faith. May I make a recommendation? I'd encourage you to pick up a copy of Jerry Bridges book "The Gospel for Real Life." This will re-enforce the gospel and your Christian identity which is the foundation. Skirts are one way to achieve modesty (which is the command, not a particular style), but not the only way. Likewise, head covering is not commanded to be worn all the time.

      Great question, Beth. Here's our article on this verse and why it's a reason for head covering (rather than evidence against it): www.headcoveringmovement.com/articles/why-head-coverings-reason-4-church-practice

    I’ve warn a shall for head covering starting at home. I am researching this topic because I feel something about this with God and I’ve read it a few times over in the bible. So yes, my question is...... Do we have to wear a head covering? Also why doesn’t the church say this? Also I’ve had a thought about having my hair long, so is that our covering? I’m on this topic and I asked our Lord about this.

      Hi, thanks for your question. The church for 1500 years has unanimously practiced this symbol so we're the exemption today (although to be fair, some church groups have preserved it).
      This video should be helpful on long hair: th-cam.com/video/XqzYQR2olF4/w-d-xo.html

    I've made myself a modesty pinterest board and most of what I've saved are women also with headcovers, I've looked at all the beautiful womens diff styles around the world through the ages and anytime I feel unsure because I'm still finding my own style that's flattering I love looking at the pictures. U would truly be surprised all the inventive and creative stylish ways women have covered for thousands of years, there's nothing u are dealing with they too have faced and when it comes to practical u may he surprised at what traditional folk styles might speak to you in some way.

    Why is head covering so controversial? It's for the Lord and only during worship. 🤔🤨🙄😔

    • @headcovering
      @headcovering  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Often it's controversial only because people haven't been taught 1 Corinthians 11, or they don't like what the passage teaches.

    The purpose of "head covering" is to cover the distraction of your long beautiful hair.....(which women envy and men admire). Covering the skull part of your head only, defeats the purpose. Your lovely long hair is a distraction. Pinned up hair under a scarf, or cap is modest. We don't want our hair to be a distraction, do we?????

      Actuallly, the face is the issue, not the hair. An accurate covering would be a bandana.

    A head covering as a ball cap or a beautiful hat that proclaims Christian woman's elegance or her glory in God's presence is not a Christian woman head covering ; a Christian woman head covering , for example a simple and large scarf tied or not , doesn't proclaim Christian woman's elegance , but rather clearly and only proclaims God's ordained hierarchy ( 1st Cor.11: 3 ) for God's glory .

    • @williambrewer
      @williambrewer 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Exodus 20 Why do you think a ball cap wouldn't be suitable?

    • @EXODUSVERSESto
      @EXODUSVERSESto 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@williambrewer , because unlike a simple and large scarf a ball cap as an ornamental head covering draws more attention to Christian woman's elegance or glory than to God's ordained hierarchy . Woman's long hair is not her covering , or her veil ; but rather her ornament , her glory ( 1st Cor.11:15 , André Chouraqui Bible version ) , that's one of the reasons for which God's word asks a Christian woman to cover her head , or her long hair , or her ornament , or her glory , in God's glorious presence ( 1st Cor.11:7 ).

    • @williambrewer
      @williambrewer 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EXODUSVERSESto Okay. I guess I think a woman's long hair is a 'kind' of covering. Not the covering Paul asks for to be used for prayer, but nature's way of showing she is not the head. A woman instinctively knows it is befitting to her role and therefore is glorious to her to groom her hair long.
      I do not think they translate it best when they translate it "her glory", for it should be translated "a glory". The reason I think this is the better way is because of the contrast that Paul is using. It is a shame to a man but a glory to a woman.
      I do not think their hair is what is being covered for that is itself a covering but rather the head is what is to be covered (which admitted covers the hair). He is saying nature bears witness to the fact that she should be covered when praying to God for even nature itself gives her a sort of covering.

      It's a symbol that represents God's ordained hierarchy. God-Christ-man-woman. It's a symbol to be worn during prayer or prophecy. It helps everyone recognized the hierarchical order.
