    Not letting the barrel cool down and shooting round after round like that determines group size also .

      true on that, thats why i start and finish with the same load when comparing

      MLGASFUDGE nor with the button 7" below his shoulder. Good shooting though.

      makes little difference shooting prone ... that trigger slap must be abysmal shooting offhand or even kneeling.

    The only thing you moved was 0.012" of seating depth and the groups opened that much? Is it possible the barrel/chamber/lead heated and caused the change? I tested like this but I started with the bullet nose being etched by the rifling and moved 0.010" per group letting the rifle cool between each....On a similar thought....I have taken "shot out" barrels and increased the COAL and got them to shoot again....which I guess proves your point!. Have fun, G.

    Very good shooting! However, when i'm testing a new load or the c.o.a.l. I shoot a 'round robin' as i was told. In basic terms. If you have 4 lots of different c.o.a.l rounds, i shoot 1 from each going round to the 4th, then start again. I was told it was due to the barrel heating up equally between different rounds. Although, in fairness, there seems to be a good breeze, and you have a nice heavy varmint barrel. I hope that makes sense? But nothing can take away from the fact that you are a great shot! I have the same rifle and calibre, but a have an S111 Sightron. Nice scope, but i hate the round centre reticle dot, as i prefer a cross... Well done you!

      I agree. COAL groups would be more believable had he shot in "round Robin", or allow the barrel to cool down sufficiently before shooting the next group.

      Ray Hart no, there was some powder charge testing first. Grouping best with a COAL of 2.290" didn't surprise me. I found that that's my rifle's preferred COAL a while ago

  • @jamiecoburn1231
    @jamiecoburn1231 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is 2.290 just into the lands and the others just out of the lands? I dont normally see that much difference unless the bullet is coming into or out of the lands?
    Just curious. Good shooting!

    I crimp all my loads now just seams I get much better grouping 👍did you manage to give them 40g black tip varms ago mate with the hornet. I not looked back after using them . Hitting 3" disc at 275 yard no problem . 12.6 lil gun . Oal 1.880 👍 after a crimp 1.882. Why it moves a not shore but seams to be fine . Do you know why it moves ? Or even if it should move . It's not giving me any problem so it's fine 👍

    You should grab the bolt handle when opening the action, rather that ridiculous straight finger method you're using. Some day you'll be hunting in the cold or rain, and your hand will slip completely off the bolt when you're trying to open it, allowing a dangerous animal to get to you.

    If he was using a step barrel mage by 411Tactical, Inc heat would not be an issue. Every cartridge had an accurate seating depth per a specific powder charge. Once you find it your groups will stay small. Have a great day!

  • @mikaeljohansson6188
    @mikaeljohansson6188 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    It would be interesting if you do the test again but started in reverse order. That barrel and especially the silencer gets hot fast and can affect the result.
    I notice a wider spread with my 6.5x55swe and silencer after just 6-7 rounds. Usually when hunting my barrel cools enough between shots to maintain accuracy.

    • @H43339
      @H43339 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everyone has the same opinion and rightly so.
      You need to let the barrel cool in between groups.
      But I would guess the longer oal would be the more accurate of the three.

    Your stock weld is not muscularly relaxed . You need to allow the full weight of your head to rest upon the stock. Your stock weld causes inconsistent sight alignment. It appears you need a taller stock pack or a lower scope mount. At any rate, seating depth may have a profound effect on accuracy. With the bullet jumping to the lands there's a certainty the bullets axis and axis of bore will not coincide; thus, after the bullet leaves the bore it will wobble until it's back on its own axis, kind of like what happens when a common child's spinning top toy is initially spun, it wobbles until it's on its own axis. Now, if a cartridge is long enough to engage the lands this still does not insure the bullet's axis and bore axis will coincide if the lands are worn or if they were not precisely cut, forged, or buttoned. All of these scenarios make it necessary to shoot loadings as much as Ten Thousandths in the lands or as much as Ten Thousandths off the lands. My match conditioned commercial equivalent of the M16-A2 which I shoot in NRA 1000 yard competitions, Service Rifle Division, shoots best with 80 grain Bergers set Ten Thousandths off the lands even though Berger suggests Ten Thousandths in the lands. Now, thing is, most folks do not have the marksmanship skill to recognize a "best" handload among others. That's to say, a shooter may be better off shooting factory match ammunition for a basis of accuracy appraisal, comparing it to handloads rather than comparing handloads to other handloads. One more thing, you need to call your shots and record both the call and the strike in your data book to have any sense for the cause of shooter error or ammunition performance.

  • @benyparsons1450
    @benyparsons1450 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Is it a good idea testing out reload rounds for bullet jump in such windy conditions?? I just feel that wouldn't be very consistent

    • @TriggerPullTV
      @TriggerPullTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ideally, but some times it's just always windy. Especially where I shoot

    • @charlesludwig9173
      @charlesludwig9173 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      TriggerPullTV you can favor each round for wind and weather conditions. Typically a 10 mph full value wind will displace M 193 or M 855 about 1.4 inches at one hundred yards.

    There is a variable I don't think you are taking into account. In your first group you were basically shooting with a COLD BARREL. As your barrel heated up, your groups will open up because the barrel heating is not perfectly uniform.

    Sheesh!!! This guy spends sooo much time aligning his eye to the reticle to the target!!
    I've got my scope, cheek weld set up so all I have to do is make sure I place cheek in the same location, with the same force and voila' I'm in alignment. No jostling my head around to get things aligned.
    There's a guy on TH-cam, Ryan Glockner, Glickner (?)
    that shows how to set up your scope, cheek pad etc.
    Excellent video that this guy should watch.
    And yeah, he basically slaps the trigger! Not how I was taught for sure!
