Just picked up a 2018 LEAF SL. This video helped me out. Someone had put the thing in Maintenance Mode.... My app wouldn't connect.. All fixed since I could find the option thanks to this video. LOVE my LEAF. :)
This is a useful video - I used it to wipe all the User data from my Leaf when selling it on privately. Otherwise it goes with all your Address Book and Nav information including History! So once into the Diag Menu just do the following: Go to Confirmation/Adj and choose "User Data Initialisation" Thats it. The unit will Reset after a few moments and come back up with none of your personal data in the head unit.
@@unadopted help needed please. I bought a 2018 leaf which had SD card missing. But I am also having other problems like Apple CarPlay not initialising, car resetting Bluetooth devices every time it’s turned off and clock resets as well. Are all these connected. Can this be sorted. Thank you
Do you know the combination to see the 12v battery voltage. I used a combination like this a couple years ago that gave a different information screen. But I can’t remember the combination. Your combination of map x3 power x2 map x1 worked on my 2013 SV. So thanks for that info screen.
Is there a way to disable this stupid screen about telematics you see on the video at around 5:50? It is so annoying to press the OK button every time you start the car.
Nope. Nissan’s lawyers made it mandatory. If you ignore it, press any other button, or hit cancel, it won’t send telematics data to Nissan. You have to hit OK for that stuff to work. The good news is that after a while it just becomes part of the routine of starting the car and gets a little bit less frustrating.
Thanks! So you did not found any option in the service menu for it. I checked now a video from Lemon-Tea Leaf, he found some ways to ack the message using buttons on the driving wheel.
Sadly not. If you do any of those other things Lemon TeaLeaf showed, do be aware that’s the same as hitting Cancel, so telematics won’t be saving your data (eg. saving driving stats, updating car location on the map in the app etc). The only way for that stuff to work properly is to hit OK on the screen.
I don’t unfortunately. Not sure if that would be a hardware thing (maybe it was installed backwards and needs putting back in properly) or if it is something that can be calibrated in software. A Leaf-trained Nissan technician should be able to sort it though, I would have thought.
Hello thats great video :) I didn't know about this hidden menu. Do you have some idea to delete the information on the screen after every time when we run the engine? It's frustrating :)
Unfortunately there is no way to disable that. Nissan’s lawyers decided we have to see that every time we turn the car on. It’s annoying at first but you get used to just hitting the OK button when you turn the car on after a while.
Turns out that the SD card I had has a file in the root folder that can be used to configure the timezone correctly. Couldn't do it through the menu at all. But simply editing the file in a text editor was the trick for me.
Since upgrading from Tekna 40kw to TeknaE+62kw I find that the DAB radio is now inferior and often fails to connect some stations. Are you aware of any means to improve reception? 40kw had a stick aerial 62kw has a sharkfin.
hi, i have a nissan leaf and its miss all the information in hidden menu of camera, can you make a video with all menu of camera to see al the settings??? Thanks.
All I know is how to temporarily mute them using the P button on the dash down-and-left from the steering wheel but I don’t think that’s what you’re after. If it’s calibration you need and you’re in the UK the team at Cleevely Motors might be able to help, I hear very good things about their mobile service team. Failing that your local Nissan dealer should be able to reset them for you.
Hi Aaron, I bought the same leaf like yours, but on the Nissan connect EV part the car symbol is with a red strikethrough. So it is not working, however, there is everything is set already. I read on a forum, that there is a set in the car, and with a diagnostical check, someone can set it to ON. With this hidden function also available in this one? Thanks, Zsolt
Could be that your dealer did not enable the telematics unit as part of the pre-delivery inspection. Ask your dealer to check the telematics are properly enabled.
@@unadopted Looks to be it is done, the Nissan Hungary wrote to me: "At his request, proof of ownership was provided. Please also activate the free Nissan Connect EV subscription in your account on the web interface." So I did it and I got a confirmation e-mail about it also. I downloaded the app also, and I registered it also. I can log in to the mobile app, I can log in to the PC program also, but of course, none of them can make a connection with the car. ( what is clear for me because of the car symbol is with a red strikethrough on the screen).
That icon with the red line means the car is not connected to the internet with its SIM card - usually this means telematics was not activated by the dealer.
I don’t know, I’ve not tried to find that option yet. It is in the same place as the 2017 Leaf? I’m sure I’ve seen a few people mention it on SpeakEV before...
Hi thanks for your reply 😊. The only reason why I wanted to get in that radio setting is maybe you have connected your android phone to android auto and Bluetooth when its on Bluetooth its very loud but on android auto the volume is so low I've tried all the settings on my phone and on the head unit but no joy. Thanks 😊
I don’t know 100% how things work on Android but on the iPhone you should use either CarPlay OR Bluetooth but not both (that way the sound goes through the USB cable too). Maybe that is the issue you’re having? Try unpairing Bluetooth and just using Android Auto.
@@Pepito499 It is built in to the car, you do not need to make any modifications. Just plug in any iPhone or Android phone into the USB port on the car. (On an Android phone, you need to install "Android Auto" from the Google Play Store if you don't already have it.)

If you’re based in the UK I’d recommend contacting your nearest HEVRA garage: www.hevra.org.uk - failing that contact your local Nissan dealer.
Aaron nice bit of info, please keep your video's coming mate as your work is great stuff and look forward seeing them.thanks again.

I don’t know of a way to see that on the car itself but you can check the 12V battery voltage in Leaf Spy if you have that.
That is what I ended up doing, using leaf spy. If I ever find that sequence again I will post it.

So you want to hit 'decline' and never see the selection again? Surely not!
is there a similar feature with the older models?
STRG might stand for steering? Maybe the communication to the force sensors of the steering wheel.
That would make a lot of sense!

Hi Arron thanks for the video. Do you know if there is any way to enable auto door locking without using leaf spy?
Pretty sure your only options are to either use LeafSpy or to ask your dealer to do it (they’ll likely tell you they can’t though).
Thank you so much, very helpful
