She's my Dads Sister, My Aunt I still have the card Mrs. Pickering sent to my Mom & Dad.
It rests with a lot of other cherished items given to me by Mom, Dad and Aunt Hazel. She acomplished a lot during her time with us and had much to be proud of.

I met her at IBMA and at the Grey Fox Festival. I miss her as there will never ever be a stronger voice for those of us who draw a paycheck.

Hazel Dickens, RIP. Powerful voice from a powerful gal. Loretta Lynn is the Coal Miner's Daughter, and Hazel Dickens is the Coal Miner's Heroine.

I'm a coal miner's daughter and live in Russell County,VA .I remember the strike of 1989. My whole senior class walked out for a day in support of the U.M.W.A . We all felt like we had to do something to show we was being affected too . Now just about all the mines around here have been shut down. Hazels songs tells the truth of the coal miners and their families.

    Arnold, laminate that card.
I'm gonna work on a campaign to shut these mines down. They are not safe to work. If one keeps em open, automate the jobs, We people are not that stupid that we can't do it
2 of my family works on the surface one works underground, and I'm gonna try and talk him out.
I have no trouble with automation

Harlan County Mine Disaster, a really sad film, but a true story
The union guys should have carried guns in.
Kemmerer, Wyoming about 1901 or ot 2
    mine collapsed 99 miners died.
Green River, WY the mine blew up 2 miners got killed, and my nephew in law was IN the mine.
It was methane gas I want the mines closed, to personnel. I been there, 1600 feet underground on a tour It scared the hell out of me, 4 hours later I came out.
We can do the mines in full automation, I'll never go back again

Let me ask you guys something.
Would you rather be 1600 feet in a mine where I was, or would you rather be 1600 or 2000 feet AGL in an airplane.
I'll take the airplane, one reason Is I know how to fly.
I'm in CAP, and I'm no means liberal, safety is my most concern
Close down the mines, lest we can automate them.
They are not safe for any human to work
