Great start. I love your and Von Kettinghams dedication to these large projects. I think the sense of movement you get with large units of Elite miniatures is fantastic.
really exciting news Ken! You have inspired me to add to my 28mm French by creating the Young Guard. I'm going to use the Perry Elite Company units to do this.
Very best of luck Ken. My 28mm Prussians are based around Von Bulow’s Corps. 3 Brigades each of 9 Battalions. Took me bloody years to complete. Mine are all metal, mainly from Calpe Miniatures, which I highly recommend. Looking forward to watching the journey.
Cheers mate, Calpe are definitely on my list for the future they do some lovely stuff. I'm probably going to do Brigades of the same manufacturers. I love the Elite Miniatures Young Guard but also want some Front Rank so a Brigade of each it is 👍
A really good start to what I am sure will be wonderful journey in 28mm Napoleonics. I am so looking forward to your progress. All the best to you Ken.
Looking forward to seeing this project progress. You're going the opposite direction of me. I have a couple modest 28mm Peninsular armies for Sharp Practice, but am now starting a 10mm project to play General D'Armee 2. Switching to the 1813 campaign for the 10mm armies. Thought about doing GDA2 in 28mm, but I'm not a fast painter, and don't think I'd ever get through it all. So hats off to you good sir.
Yes now we are talking. Got loads of unpainted metal but had to buy loads of perry prussian line and landwher, reservists from wargames atlantic in bulk too. Will beh watching your progress wit interest
I'm in the process of trying 6mm, 10mm and 15mm Napoleonics. Deciding which will be easiest to paint for GDA2 .... 28mm Naps are beyond my skill level.
My own 28 mm Napoleonic project focuses on the same action, but I was only going to be doing the Prussian army which is almost complete. Plenty of friends have French but they lack the guard so I am now looking at the French. Mainly Perry, Warlord and Foundry for the Prussians and so far Victrix plastics for the French Guard, with some Perry commanders.
I don't have any of the Warlord French lancers, but in my completely unasked for opinion, I don't understand the poses where the lance is at 45 degrees. Would that not tend to trip horses up? It looks weird imho, and off-putting
No idea, I rarely worry about rules, I base how I want things to look (I'm going for the classic Gilder old school tightly packed look with these) and then work out rules later. I'm guessing at the moment I'd go for Gen d'Armee 2 but it's going to be 2 or 3 years before I have enough for a game so new rules could come out in the meantime.
I presume that you have seen the box of Perry plastic French line infantry in Bardin uniforms 1812-1815? Apologies if I am telling my Grandmother how to suck eggs.
I have mate, I'll probably mix some of those in during the course of the Project, I think the Boxes I bought had more figures in ( I was being cheap as usual 🤣)
Great start to the project I will look forward to seeing more.
Thanks Mark 👍
I like having the extra figures in Perry's Cavalry boxes, as I use them for ADC's, or to flesh out a Command stand!
They can definitely come in useful 👍
Look forward to seeing this project progress.
Thanks John 👍

Cheers, I'm really looking forward to painting some, I haven't done any for about 25 years when I did a load for the Wargames Holiday Centre
Good luck on the new project Ken. I’m looking forward to following your progress. Cheers, Keith.
Thanks very much 👍

A nice start and a most impressive 15mm showcase!
Thanks Phil, I must get round to doing a feature on the 15mm stuff

Cheers, will have a look 👍

Thats one inspirational 15mm collection, I foresee Napoleonics in my future I think with this project. Look forward to seeing how your 28mm's go.
Thanks very much 👍

Great books, I have the Prussian book, and the Uniforms of Waterloo, plus still the first issue of WI with the Irish Legion on the cover.
Those Rawkins books are the business 👍
I love and have tons of 15mm. But am considering doing Quatra Bra in Pendraken 10mm lol
10mm is a great scale for Napoleonics, Gerry Elliotts set up is beyond amazing 👍
Welcome to 28mm Ken!
Cheers 👍
WOW. Really cool collection 👍
And now I'm starting again in 28s 😀
I'm in the process of trying 6mm, 10mm and 15mm Napoleonics. Deciding which will be easiest to paint for GDA2 .... 28mm Naps are beyond my skill level.
I'm the other way round, I really struggle to see 15s
@@YarkshireGamer oh I have eye problems too but my skill level on Naps is no way good enough at 28m.
wow!! Just amazing line up!! Love it!
Soon to be replicated in 28mm 👍
Brave move!
I'm known for my cautious approach to wargaming 😆
@@YarkshireGamer This has been noticed...

I had to go old school with the Elite Miniatures for the Young Guard, Front Rank do some really nice ones too.
Calpe Prussians are bloody lovely.
They are certainly on my future list 👍
Well lad there thee go Naps..
Looking forward to it 😀
Plancenoit 1815. I endorse this message.
😊
I wondered where my Rawkins book had gone! 😮😅
I think this was Dave Bowdens 😆 got his writing in the back, did you lend it to him 🤔 😉 Sounds like a good reason for a trip to Belgium as well !
@@YarkshireGamer no idea where my copy is.
I do know that Pete Bate griped continually about the absence of the Haythornewaite in Northwich Library. 🙂

@@YarkshireGamer watch out for iffy Lance angles!!

Chest Infection 👍
@@YarkshireGamer ok, not losing it. Result!
Surely it fell into your pram in 1984 and not your hands? :)
I left school in 1984 😆 and that was scheduled I wasn't expelled 😎
