Im surprised you didn't mention in the intro he lost to specifically Gluto's Link twice. Gluto is just taking a quite bad character with among the most technical potentials in the game, playing him off of mostly fundies, and trashing almost all of France with him

As a french player, I'm surprised I haven't heard about this before.
Honestly, I like when people trashtalk about EU level for the storyline. It motivates players to search a comeback and most of the time I see it as harmless rivalry more than toxic BS.
For example, when Gluto and Bloom fight for the title of EU champion, french and UK players would trashtalk a lot about which country was the best. It was just a spicy debate and it was really funny to follow which country gets the better results at every last tournament
Some french top and high players saw miya Beats Gluto a while ago and start playing g&w (fox 2, raflow, and others)
