Pure chaos dropping off the baby lambs and their Mom's! So noisy, but so cute!

Every lambing you are going to lose some lambs with nothing wrong with them. You can't do much about the weather. But if you're happy with this first group then it's good. Feeding the ewes out in the fields gets the lambs running and playing. So cute. Glad that Sophie's border Leicesters did well.

I'm surprised you don't have more pet lambs, good job adopting them!

with the joint ill you have said you have had very few frosts - I do believe the frosts overnight are cleaner than constant wet ground with lambs - do you need to give your tagging gun a sterilization - just to cover your bases

With your weak lamb, I always give them an injection of multivitamin with amino acids and also subcu with 5% dextrose for an energy boost. If dehydrated I give subcu saline or lactated ringers. If you don't have access to those things, Lamb shield may be helpful. If it looks like the lamb isn't digesting properly, take your drench tube and suck fluid from the rumen of a healthy lamb and tube it into your poorly lamb.

Joint I'll could it be your dip pot? Apparently some vets don't recommend them because of bacteria build up on the outer dip lid maybe with floods bugs on the grass?

They are Sophie's flock. She seems really happy with how the lambing went for them.

How are you tracking which ewe or lamb gets medicine? Flock watch or Galligar ?

Will, looks like you’re getting close to finishing off lambing in the next week or two.
On a different note, what signs of ergotism do you watch for in your sheep and how do you manage it when it happens, please? Thank you.

Is that sheep with ears like a rabbit a breed type? Or is it a unique sheep with rabbit blood in its ancestry 🤣🤣

The sheep with the tall rabbit-like ears is a Border Leicester. If I remember correctly, it’s one of the long wool breeds with a good crimp to its wool. The breed has been around over 300 years; it’s related to the Bluefaced Leicester. I believe the BFL rams are the ones taken to several hill or mountain breeds, to produce the crossbred ewes for commercial food production - and I believe the Border Leicester rams get crossed with other hill types to create the half bred commercial ewes.
