An example of how random and unknowable this could be: when I was in high school- sixteen, had just learned to drive- I found myself exploring downtown Atlanta very late at night, and slightly lost. I pulled in to a parking lot to get my bearings and maybe look at an address or something, and noticed I was on the notoriously worst street in the city- an infamous bad place. At the same moment another car flashed its headlights at me and a man who looked like a drug dealer from Central Casting hopped out and headed straight for me, quick-time. He cIearly expected to meet someone and thought it was me. I gunned it and was gone in a flash, with a story to tell. If I had stayed to answer him I could have been found much like Vera Anderson. What happened? Why was I there? Inquiries into my life would have yielded nothing; I liked to wander, but who knew that? Did something like that happen to her?

Simple things that we think at the time, being so innocent and naive, we don’t think anything bad will or could ever happen. I’m glad you are ok! And we’re able to tell us this story. All it takes is a few mometnts of a lapse in judgement and your life is snuffed in an instant forever.

@@ruthymorales7208 (Thanks!) And yeah, 'wrong place/wrong time' can absolutely happen to anyone- is that the hardest crime to solve? Maybe that or 'mistaken identity'- literally nothing but the location might connect the killer or killers with the victim. And the location might just be a wrong turn.

I wonder if she received a phone call from someone from the bar she frequented and they were asking for help. She left her son behind as she didn't know what to expect but didn't tell her neighbour who she was meeting as the person had asked for her to keep it a secret. She went to help and then ended up being a loose end or witness? My theory has a lot of what-ifs, but if she liked to mother the men at the bar, perhaps she felt she had to help.
Initially, I wondered if it could be blackmail but it just doesn't feel right.
The hitman theory feels weird too. They've obviously done well to cover their tracks, but leaving a glove and a cigarette packet behind seems sloppy.
I really hope this case gets solved soon so that Vera can rest peacefully and her family can finally have answers

About the sighting of the woman in the pub wearing flip-flops and casual clothing - I'd think the neighbour would know what she was wearing. If she was already more dressed up, it's highly unlikely she purposefully changed into something frumpy, and if she was wearing the sighted outfit, the neighbour could probably tell authorities? I'm wondering why they didn't clear this up before they spent so much time chasing the lead. It's a very bizarre case, very brutal and personal for a hit, too. I hope the family find answers soon. ❤

I think that Vera may have possibly been cheating on her boyfriend with another man and perhaps that’s why she didn’t want to tell her neighbor who she was really going to see. Possibly this man became obsessed and upset that she didn’t want anything serious and wouldn’t leave her relationship for him. Maybe was a regular at the bar she frequented. I hope they find her killer soon. Thank you for the coverage on this case Georgia!

I wonder if someone she came into contact with from her sandwich business had a thing for her or against her? Both figurative and literal. They’d have Vera’s phone number and be acquainted enough with her for her to be comfortable to meet them outside of work hours.
They could have told her they had an item she’d been looking for either for herself personally or for sandwich making? A bike for her son? A favor to move an item in exchange for business? It would explain why she didn’t give a name to the neighbor .

I haven’t watched this video yet.. This happened 3 years before I was born, it happened where I’m from (Warrington/widnes) and every now and then I always see our local guardian newspaper posting about this asking for information. Its so sad 😔. I remember seeing it on crimewatch too.
Really not relevant to the case, but there was another case in Warrington that was cold for years. The case of baby Callum. A newborn baby. His body was found by a children’s theme park in 1998. Every so often the guardian would post about him too asking if anyone had any information. A few months ago an arrest was made! Obviously there has been no conviction yet but the police are certain they are not looking for anyone else in connection to the case.
    I have hope for Vera’s justice 🩷

This seems like one of those cases in which the answer- if we ever get it- proves to be something we couldn't have detected. Possibilities: (1) She had something complicated going on in her life that was unknown to anyone who loved her; (2) She saw something or knew something dangerous to someone else; (3) She was the target or object of obsession of a mentally unstable person; (4) Wrong place, wrong time; (5) Sexual motive? Scene doesn't seem to support this; (6) Robbery (botched? Same as #5; there seems to have been no item of value or search for anything); (7) Mistaken identity. A sudden dispute (like robbery) seems less likely due to the remote location and the indications that the killing was planned. Sorry if I missed it, but was her blood alcohol level given?

    • @LaMorenitaDivina
      @LaMorenitaDivina 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

You’re so right. Whenever I hear friends and family of victims talk about how a victim would never have done this or that, I always have a bit of a mental reservation on it, because while I understand they’re grieving and clutching at ways to make sense of a terrible tragedy, it just isn’t possible to know everyone’s secrets or motivations. Human behaviour is rarely totally predictable. And you can live with someone for literal decades and still not know something about them. So if they are ever going to catch the person or people (I have a feeling it’s the latter) that did this, it seems absolutely vital that everyone keep an open mind to motives. Especially now that the obvious ones don’t appear to have panned out.

yeah honestly I started thinking she or someone she knew was involved in something secret, maybe outlandish as Russian spies or the IRA. Could've been going to pick up a gun cache with someone from the bar. Or she went instead because the friend from the bar was in trouble with them "just do us a favor" sort of thing, but Vera agreed to go thinking they wouldn't do anything to her.

A hit? sure. It seems pretty clear she was lured there for that purpose. A PROFESSIONAL hit.. wouldn't they just use the gun? Like sure it could of been, does hired & professional mean the same thing ? however I'm still having trouble connecting the dots on why they think this. It appears premeditated of course, as whoever did this came prepared.. Also even back in then, you can check the #.that called on the phone bill, no? I really feel like there is a lot the police are holding back. Its all so confusing.

Maybe Vera didn’t bring her son along or tell her neighbour who she was going to see because the person asked her to help them with or talk about something private in nature (eg. Financial, relationship or health issues they were having) . That could also explain why she agreed to go to a quiet area late at night since it would make sense as a more private area to speak at, especially if the person also had family they might not want around. It could also explain why she seemed down the day she died but wasn’t visibly stressed when she left. If she had a friend or loved one she thought was going through something that would probably be a bit upsetting but going to help/ speak to/ support someone you know isn’t a stressful thing to do either.
I don't think I would meet someone I didn’t trust enough to meet my family in a weird area late at night, but I have lied for friends to hide situations that they would consider sensative or private and would be willing to go out late to help them if something ever came up.

This has to have been a mistaken identity. Is it possible it was meant for her partner or daughter? If the call to the house was related to her death, maybe someone called the house to lure the intended victim out, whilst the killer was already waiting in the area. And when the wrong person answered, in a time slightly before mobile phones were common, they had no way to let the killer know that that the wrong person was going to arrive. And the killer didn't realise until it was too late?
