I am so happy you posted this. You are such an inspiration I find. I love to write too, I recently published my first poem/art book online and I totally hear you about royalties. It's so difficult even in the writing world and publication business to make a stable income. It is quite similar to entertainment, like you said. But art feeds the soul and gives life meaning, at least for me, so I will continue writing. I would love to buy your books. Where could I find them outside South Korea? Is there an online shop? It might be difficult to read them now but I am learning Korean so hopefully with time I can enjoy Korean books as that is my goal for studying this language (and maybe to live in Seoul for a couple of years in my life, someday). :)
All online bookstores in Korea like Kyobobook, Aladin, and Yes24! Search my name (in Korean 맹지나) and books will show. I think they ship overseas as well :)
Gina you have such interesting stories to tell. To hear how you transition from a glamorous industry to another, and the insight of it all (both not so glamorous..) I always wanted to be a writer since I was little, wrote some stories here and there but never pushed through. Now I'm 25+ and finally settled on my corporate job, sitting here I'm wondering about the dream I forgot through out the years. I don't want to lose my job because I actually like what I'm doing, but I still wanna pursuit the writer in me. Thank you Gina for this video, you are so inspirational!! I would like to start writing again❤️
So you are not only gifted with a beautiful voice and awesome dancing skill, and you are an author too? Seriously as an entrepreneur, your story is so inspiring to me. And please don't think you are unlucky in the Kpop industry, I think it's meant to be like this, you can now do much more stuff you are passionate about!
ah, as expected, you're an eloquent english speaker. it just goes to show how talented, clever and absolutely bright you must be. while you were going through your rough trainee experience, you were able to write a travel book, go to university and more or less make yourself a career as a writer. obviously, there was a lot of luck involved, but still, it has to be backed by actual skill, ability, and a healthy dose of charisma. i'm glad to see how successful (barring last year's unfortunate circumstances) you've become in light of your rough music experience. cheers!
@@GinaEverywhere this might seem random, but i truly hope for your continued success. should you ever want any editing for english publications of any form, i moonlight as such and would do it free for you, haha. all the best to you! cheers!
My impression is that it's not just luck, but evidence of your hard work researching, your sincerity on the topic, and the well-put-together pitch, and the fact that you worked well with the people around you. And your dedication in making sure you give your very best for your books. Thank you for this insight into the travel writing industry!
Travel writing gave me the idea when I watched KDrama “More than Friends” as male lead OngSeongWu, the episode when they have to work together to put up a book, he was a photographer and Shin Ye Eun was the writer I mean she impart her ideas/description of the place 😍 thinking of it now, whoa this generation can make up their own income, own career, and not be slave of the 9-5 jobs 👍🏻 you’re such an inspiration! Keep doing what you do. I wanted to support and find your books but I’m not Korean, but still would love to collect them. Hope there’s a way I can get the list of your books?

You are an extremely beautiful woman with an amazing personality, driven. talented, Very smart, well spoken and Inspiring how you carry yourself. There is no doubt that you will always be successful in life and we wish you only the best in all your efforts. I believe that being a trainee gave you so many skills & confidence that it's just a smooth sailing ride from now on.. I lack confidence & skills at 28 which restricts me to take further steps. But I will start learning from now on & will take each day at a time, keep progressing & will reach my destination! Thank you for all the motivation Gina!
After I saw your video about your trainee days, I was wondering how you become a travel writer. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. You are definitely talented in so many areas!

You're so cool! I find your story (both k-pop and travel writing) so inspirational. I hope I can become as hard-working as you someday. Even though I haven't experienced anything like your struggles in k-pop, hearing about them somehow made me feel less alone. You're super personable as well. Best of luck on going back to New York and going to Bali sometime! P. S. Your videos deserve way more views, can't believe hardly anyone has found these yet.
I love writing as well. I've been writing ever since I was kid. Although I don't get to write as often as I used to (because of school), you inspire me into getting into this business. Thank you so much Gina.

Wow, 20+ books under your belt, and counting - you are one seasoned author! I find it intriguing that many Korean travel writers are retirees. It sounds like a dream semi-retirement plan, after decades spent working, or raising a family. Why not travel the world, document the trip in a book, and get paid for it (albeit modestly). I also chuckled when you went from being considered "too old" as a K-Pop trainee, to being "extremely young" for a travel writer. Just goes to show it's all relative. It still blows my mind that some trainees start so young, when they are in elementary school, even? Mamamoo's Solar said she was considered older than average, when she debuted at 23 (international age). I didn't get it then, but I do now. TBH, it scares me a little, that so many trainees are plunged into the entertainment industry, so young. If you would consider talking about safeguards companies put in place, to ensure minors are properly looked after, in upcoming videos?
I know you're trying to distance yourself from the kpop industry but I'm sure you'd be an amazing lyricist 👀 hope you pitch you ideas more often! Love you!
HI, I'm from Poland. I am curious if you have ever visited my country during your travels in Europe? And if so, did you like it? I also visited Prague a few times ( well it's close to my country) and I loved it. But Budapest impressed me the most I loved every single minute of my trip there even though I catched a cold and had a fever while I was there. To sum up, I really enjoy your videos. you have amazing storytelling skills... I could listen to you all day long. Looking forward to more videos from you. Greetings from Poland ;)

Writing career - Hummm? I didn't have much luck there, here in the states you have to get an agent before the publisher will even talk to you, if you are new writer, like me at that time, and what I wanted to write, did write was non-fiction, self-help stuff along those lines --- It takes about a year to write something like that if it is to have any value to the reader, and all they would offer me was 5K ---- I didn't give up writing, but I gave up searching for publishers.
