Okay, growing up on a farm, facts: As I stated previously Foam boxes have chemicals in them. If desperate to use it, once only because the sun and heat causes chemicals to break down the foam, which gets into the root system and in the food you eat. Secondly, potatoes can take 3 months to 6 months to grow fully. Thirdly, some potatoes won't produce many potatoes because they are hybrid or have been sprayed with no sprout. Fourthly, if can use the potatoes and if you don’t cut them properly and feed them, the crop won't be plentiful. Fifthly, it's cheaper to buy them. lol If you want to grow food. Get the soil tested and use ceramic sealed or porcelain pots, and don't grow them like in this video unless you want to die younger. Seriously this not how to grow potatoes
Interesting fact "Polystyrene foam contains the chemical styrene, which has been linked to cancer, vision and hearing loss, impaired memory and concentration, and nervous system effects".
I never got why people would choose to grow anything in plastic or styrofoam. Adding chemicals to your food. No way they got this many potatoes either, the dirt magically displace itself out of the box to make room for 100 potatoes 😂
Thank you for sharing that information. This video is annoying on so many levels but now also potentially deadly! This prick should be made to eat all of his tiny potatoes raw!!

We grow potatoes every year and all ours are still connected to the roots when we dig them up unlike yours. It's crazy that only your small ones are still connected to the roots, but the larger ones have miraculously self-disconnected. In one box your potatoes were all on one level like they had been placed there for clicks and likes. I guess I could be wrong but in nature nothing is uniform, so I am a little suspicious for sure. ;)

@@DIYGardenIdeas Thank you sir for some explanation. I'm going to try to do as you practice it because I've done it before, but everything doesn't work out and the potatoes get damaged in the ground. I want to keep learning how to plant it well.
@DIYGardenIdeas yeah, Step 1: let potato spud/sprout Step 2: cut potato into segments with sprouts. Step 3: lay plastic on ground cover with nutrient rich soil and compost to create a raised bed. Step 4: plant potato segments. Harvest potatoes by pulling up plastic and shifting soil.
Aloe vera. It’s a root enhancement or can be used in place of cloning gel or powder. It works really well too but was entirely unnecessary in this application. Plus please DO NOT grow any food in polystyrene as it has so many problems including it can cause cancer & rapid brain damage.. this video needs to be removed!! 😠
It prevents the set from rot, most of the old time farmers in Tasmania Australia used this method along with a dusting of super mix in on the potato sets as they were being sown in the furrows.

Yeah, definitely explain the reason behind using cement. Is it sealing off that side of the potato to protect from rot?

@@DIYGardenIdeas Yes. But I am aware they are a fire hazard. I used them for temporary storage to protect stuff from getting wet.
He isn't getting all that many tubers. It looks that way because he is crowding the plants so heavily and using fertilizer when he waters.
Looks like the tubers are trying to break free from the crowd!
Hmmmmm... Does the foam keep the tubers from being attached to the plant when you harvest them? That's what this video shows.
That's a great observation! The foam really does help prevent the potatoes from sticking to the plant during harvest.

I grew them in barrels this year but will try your method to compare. You make growing look easy. Can I ask why you put cement on the cut potato?
