These are some of the prayers said by the great prophets of God, said during the most difficult circumstances faced by man. Moses (pbuh) was fleeing pharoah of Egypt and his henchmen, and crossed the dessert by foot, without any nourishment. Exhausted and depleted he said a prayer "My Lord, indeed I am in great need of any good you would bestow upon me". We are recommended to say this when we feel as though we are facing life's challenges in a dessert, lonely, and feeling depleted. Jonah (pbuh) found the task of spreading the word of God very difficult when his people repeatedly would ridicule God's religion Islam and were not interested in the hereafter, he decided to leave his people feeling hopeless and boarded a ship. The sky turned cloudy and dark, the waters were treacherous and the boat was in danger of capsizing. They decided to draw lots to decide which of them should be thrown overboard to lighten the weight on the boat. Again and again prophet Jonah's name came up so he was thrown in the sea. A whale was ordered to swallow the prophet (peace be upon him). At this point he experienced 3 types of darkness: 1 darkness of the night, 2 darkness of the ocean, 3 darkness of the belly of the whale. It is during this time he said the prayer "God, there is no one worthy of worship but You, Glory be to You, indeed I am of the wrongdoers". This beautiful prayer invites us to think about the different layers of darkness we might be facing in our lives, and further asks us to self reflect on mistakes and sins we commit and to acknowledge them and seek God's forgiveness for them; in seeking His forgiveness we will find a way out of every darkness we face.
Am a Hindu!! I respect all religions. When I heard this song first time eyes closed, I felt the divine, calmness and complete silence in me. It gave me a feel like as if I was praying inside a mosque peacefully. I am an ardent devotee of sai baba. All I cud think of it another way is, Baba sitting in dwaraka Mai and someone singing this song to him, Baba blessing us.. I got emotional visualizing this image. That 'La ilaha illallah' in the begining is soul crushing. It feels like Najeeb, Hakeem and Khadiri were questioning the cosmic power above. What have I done to deserve this? Why have you abandoned me? Where are you now? A lot of Najeeb's internal conflict with God can be heard in the rendition. The meaning of the prayer is only literal. The way the prayer is sung brings out the anguish... almost a rebuke to the powers above.. yet humble enough to know his place and seeking mercy to endure what is thrown at him. I have this beautiful dua on my phone homescreen. Mixed feeling hearing it on a movie song.
These are some of the prayers said by the great prophets of God, said during the most difficult circumstances faced by man. Moses (pbuh) was fleeing pharoah of Egypt and his henchmen, and crossed the dessert by foot, without any nourishment. Exhausted and depleted he said a prayer "My Lord, indeed I am in great need of any good you would bestow upon me". We are recommended to say this when we feel as though we are facing life's challenges in a dessert, lonely, and feeling depleted.
Jonah (pbuh) found the task of spreading the word of God very difficult when his people repeatedly would ridicule God's religion Islam and were not interested in the hereafter, he decided to leave his people feeling hopeless and boarded a ship. The sky turned cloudy and dark, the waters were treacherous and the boat was in danger of capsizing. They decided to draw lots to decide which of them should be thrown overboard to lighten the weight on the boat. Again and again prophet Jonah's name came up so he was thrown in the sea. A whale was ordered to swallow the prophet (peace be upon him). At this point he experienced 3 types of darkness: 1 darkness of the night, 2 darkness of the ocean, 3 darkness of the belly of the whale. It is during this time he said the prayer "God, there is no one worthy of worship but You, Glory be to You, indeed I am of the wrongdoers". This beautiful prayer invites us to think about the different layers of darkness we might be facing in our lives, and further asks us to self reflect on mistakes and sins we commit and to acknowledge them and seek God's forgiveness for them; in seeking His forgiveness we will find a way out of every darkness we face.

Am a Hindu!! I respect all religions. When I heard this song first time eyes closed, I felt the divine, calmness and complete silence in me. It gave me a feel like as if I was praying inside a mosque peacefully. I am an ardent devotee of sai baba. All I cud think of it another way is, Baba sitting in dwaraka Mai and someone singing this song to him, Baba blessing us.. I got emotional visualizing this image. Moses (pbuh) was fleeing pharoah of Egypt and his henchmen, and crossed the dessert by foot, without any nourishment. Exhausted and depleted he said a prayer "My Lord, indeed I am in great need of any good you would bestow upon me". We are recommended to say this when we feel as though we are facing life's challenges in a dessert, lonely, and feeling depleted.
Jonah (pbuh) found the task of spreading the word of God very difficult when his people repeatedly would ridicule God's religion Islam and were not interested in the hereafter, he decided to leave his people feeling hopeless and boarded a ship. The sky turned cloudy and dark, the waters were treacherous and the boat was in danger of capsizing. They decided to draw lots to decide which of them should be thrown overboard to lighten the weight on the boat. Again and again prophet Jonah's name came up so he was thrown in the sea. A whale was ordered to swallow the prophet (peace be upon him). At this point he experienced 3 types of darkness: 1 darkness of the night, 2 darkness of the ocean, 3 darkness of the belly of the whale. It is during this time he said the prayer "God, there is no one worthy of worship but You, Glory be to You, indeed I am of the wrongdoers". This beautiful prayer invites us to think about the different layers of darkness we might be facing in our lives, and further asks us to self reflect on mistakes and sins we commit and to acknowledge them and seek God's forgiveness for them; in seeking His forgiveness we will find a way out of every darkness we face.
