Not if you tie them properly and the water stays below the height of the boot (which can be remedied with waterproof gaiters) All my GTX boots have kept water out
That's when common sense comes in handy. Over shoes or tall enough boots if deep water is possible. And it's not like regular shoes are going to help keep your feet dry. If you're doing a day hike, it doesn't really matter when you will be within walking distance to a place to stay.
Columbia Newton Ridge = WORST hiking boot I ever had! They were good for about 8 months, after that, they unglued where outsole meets the upper part, and always ended with wet feet, even just by the morning dew when walking on grass.
Man…. how much coffee did you drink prior? I can get by with no load hikes with trail runners. Once i have a pack on… it is boots. Main reason to protect the bottom of my feet. 🥾
I was a shoes guy until I got a teddy bear cactus stuck to my shoe lol team boots since then
Waterproofing is pretty useless most the time imo. They tend to get water in them anyway and seal it in the shoe 🤷🏽♂️

Could you please suggest specific winter/snow hiking shoes for men?
hiking boots are more safe and reliable
get jungle boots, cheap, let water out and they look nice

You didn’t say anything that matter ?
Hiking/trail running shoes aren't as durable as hiking boots once the elements turn.
Heavy backpack? Boots, no backpack? Sneakers, simple.
