- Academia: School Simulator Season 3 continues and we manage to reach the end of year one without going broke (hurrah!), which also means it's exam time for our students. But how do they do? Do we achieve many great things or do our teachers struggle?
We do see a bit of trouble with unruly students, with many kids being hauled off to the Principal's office for a stern telling off. However we do also discover a new fun option for dealing with our delinquents that we could use to get them scrubbing the toilets!
We build ourselves a new classroom type, the field, which means our students can go outdoors and get some lovely fresh air. Access to the outdoors is given by the newly expanded common area.
There's also a magazine review of the school, some eco-lobbying and a slight change in the faculty.
NOTE: This is the Early Access version of the game.

Build a high school with fantastic facilities like science labs, basketball courts, and art rooms, or do the bare minimum and live off government subsidies! Will you offer your delinquent students counseling, or simply send them to detention to let them waste their lives away? Academia : School Simulator is a cheerful yet challenging management game from the artist of Prison Architect and the studio that brought you Political Animals.
Student motivation is driven by various needs, including hygiene, hunger, and discipline, and they'll become even more complex as time goes on, eventually competing in school competitions like spelling bees and even falling in love.
Teachers are unique, with different subject specialties and degrees. Eventually they will also have their own motivations that need to be satisfied so they can keep teaching at the highest level.
Build Canteens, Clinics, Computer Labs, Common Areas and much more as you create your dream Educational Complex.
Do you think the janitors aren't doing a good job? Plot out their routes yourself in order to ensure maximum efficiency.
From potted plants to statues and fountains, we have everything to make your school the envy of all! And we'll keep adding decorative objects so that you can have a completely unique school.
Students that look like zombies and eat brains? why not? Want to run a school where the students are literally prisoners? Whatever floats your boat! Image mods are available now, and language and other mods will follow in the future.
Customize your school seal and motto to make a school that is uniquely yours!
Normal mode requires you to balance your budget and provide the best education that you can with your money, while sandbox lets you go utopian with unlimited money!

Be careful with students per class... I seem to remember as classes get bigger teaching quality goes down... But I may have made that up, it been a while 😂

Ooooh ookay ... Its the Counselling and other forms of punishment that needs to be assigned. :P I knew it was something that needed to be assigned. Thought it was detention too. Glad its automated though :)
I do like how we can deal out different punishments to different rule breakers!
My school does ' delinquent labour ' I've pretty much cleaned the entire campus at this point for my late streak. :'(

Commenting as a teacher - you can definitely be in a classroom and still be a truant! I have had so many students from other classes try to sneak in to mine 😂(and probably mine going the other way too)

In order to complete Improved School Lunches without incurring the 1900+ cost:
1. Accept the task
2. Set the lunches to superior, afterwards set them back to normal.
Also, make sure you do it after they bought the food for the day because you don't want to accidentally pay for the superior lunches.
Yeah, I wasn't sure if setting the lunches to superior would 'lock us in' to that choice for a period of time.
I'd love to see you what kind of layout you'd do on a sandbox run through. Maybe a livestream?

Flooring is costly but now we're earning a bit I think we should be OK to get that bit sorted.
I believe the main incentive for getting people on the bus would be either testing things out and seeing if things work and earning revenue from vending machines and the like. Lovely videos Penge ：）

with the nutrition grant you can keep in pause and swap it to superior, it ticks the grant, and then swap it back. that's what i always do when i need the little extra. it's not a keep it at that for days.
as a teacher, I think it's an amazing idea to have delinquent students clean up as consequences for their behavior! in fact, I think the devs are wrong to say that it's less effective than detention. from my experience, detention is the least effective consequence of the bunch. teach those kids some responsibility! ....I may be taking this game too seriously lol 😂😅
Class room door to the middle and also the fence to keep kids from walking on the grass and getting mud in the school because that would mean a better result at the end of the year.

Another great video! The whole school-year idea is neat. Just out of curiosity (since I've never played) would it be better to only take in a smaller number of students (say 1 class instead of 4), but then provide more staff to get a better grade in cleanliness and delinquency, thus a better rank, or is it better to just grab all the students you but not as much staff and get lower ranks in those? Keep up the good work, Penge!
Less students and more staff wouldn't give us enough money to get through the year, I wouldn't believe. You get paid per day per student so if we only had one class we'd have very little income!
The Geek Cupboard Ah, I see. So is it just a game balance issue, then? It seems like the first year is just kind of scrape by the skin of your teeth which doesn’t seem too fun. But like I said in an previous video, I’m used to Prison Architect which is similar but a lot different as well. I love your vids and your attitude. Keep up the good work!

You should make the corridors a big common area
We did that on a previous series, it just made things look untidy and cluttered really. Plus one of the big points about the common areas is that they've got tables and chairs to sit down and we don't want to block our corridors with tables and chairs! It's a fire hazard...
But If you have lots of chairs children could get stuck behind others

Instead of demolishing items like the water fountain, just dismantle it and it will be saved in the school's inventory for later.
You can dismantle things?! Did I know this already?!
Edit: I've just checked and dismantle is the same as sell. So if you dismantle something you get reimbursed a little, there isn't a school inventory. I don't think so anyway...
Ahh ok. In Prison Architect the game stores the items for you so I assumed it was the same creator since the art style is so similar. Didn’t mean to give you false info. The Geek Cupboard
You can add two more classrooms without hiring more teachers. There are always two spare currently every lesson. Money maker!
But those kids from the extra classrooms will graduate at the end of the year and we'll have to build more classrooms to accommodate them in their new year group!
Since it's the Freshmen that dropped out, and it's often because of "I can't get food" you may want to look at their schedules. Edit: Ah, you did

are you able to accept more students if 40 were interested but you only accepted 20 initially? Or are you stuck with the 20 for the rest of the year?
I think that's it for the year. I can't remember now. You could accept one of the grants for the delinquent students for extra students part way through the year.
Taking on students part way through the year is a risk though, they have less time to learn and so therefore less chance of passing the exams.

Yes, we could, but it makes sense to have classrooms in multiples of four because there are four year groups, so when the students graduate there's a corresponding number of classrooms/seats to move into!
