56 year old male. I’ve lifted weights consistently since I was 15. I follow a mostly carnivore diet and I also hike every week.
In bed by 9pm up by 530am.
Do this consistently and your life will improve.

I totally agree. 77 year old male on carnivore diet. Walk a mile almost every day, lift weights three times a week. Never smoked and hardly ever drink. Haven't had a cold in over 30 years, BP 112/70, last time in hospital I was being born. And ALL body parts function as intended. No jabs also.

I just retired from my multi decade desk job 4 months ago. One of my retirement goals is to get back into shape. I cannot tell you how much I’ve improved physically in such a short amount of time. I can actually sleep all night without drugs now! Let’s be honest - a desk job will kill you faster than anything if you allow it to. Healthy diet and exercise Baby! 💯 💪

Congrats to you! My husband just did this, he began using our Tonal religiously, finally got sufficient sleep and takes our pups on daily walks with me. He has truly aged backwards & got off blood pressure meds in just one year. He looks incredible at 52. I can’t recommend Tonal or any regular strength training and an animal based diet with organic fruits & vegetables enough. Good luck to you.

I haven't eaten red meat for 20 years. As I approached 50 I started to work out, and had a significant muscle increase. I do eat chicken nearly every day, and started hemp seed protein about 6 months ago, which I believe has helped. I'm sure if I ate red meat I would see "more" muscle increase (I don't need more), but it is certainly not required. I'm not vegan, but I suggest people google "vegan body builders" and understand that it works for many people; perhaps not everyone.

I'm a 53 year old housewife with a 2 year old active Labrador, wood stove (lots of heavy lifting to handle the house's wood needs), and huge garden. My comfortable max weight to dead lift and carry is 50 lbs and I'm 110 lbs myself, LOL. I'm an avid intermittent AND longterm faster (my max water fast is 9 days and max dry fast is 3 days).
My upper body, especially, is well-defined (like it was in my 30s when I regularly lifted weights in the gym since I had a desk job). People afraid they'll lose muscle due to fasting are missing the boat. I am particularly active and my life requires "weight lifting," but still, I'm convinced that the human growth hormone (HGH) increase by fasting has done more to build muscle than fasting diminishes it.

Thank you so much for your nice post....same here regarding the dogs and the woodstove....I have lost too much weight due to severe illness though thankfully in recovery except dealing with Chemotherapy side effects since early 2018. My weight is stuck at 45 kg...I had tried to leave a minimum of four hours between meals to aid peristalsis on the gut. Due to malabsorption issues that is difficult as I am always hungry. And despite walking a lot, trying to take care of my pets (including a few goats for a little milk) can lead me to be very tired..yet I cannot sleep. I hope this L. reuteri will help me sleep better. Also the more I do, I lose the little muscle I have in my upper body very quickly....I think I have to pace myself better, not overdo things and sleep enough. Hopefully it will all improve. I am so grateful to be alive 🙏

But also so glad you are taking such good care of each other! That is so important to have family, friends and community. When I was thanking Dr Berg for his in depth and amazing videos, I really meant that without his advice, and that of a few other enlightened Drs, the online community that follow Dr Berg and the recommendation by a friend of a friend to look up Dr Berg as well as a couple of other online Drs I would not be writing to you today. God is so good! I know what happened to me is complex...because of that it is not easy to get answers really. There are few Naturopaths in Ireland. And they vary in their fees from Euro 7000 to 10.000. To treat you over the course of a year...not including the price of supplements. And because of my having had Chemotherapy, one holistic practitioner nearby, who is interested in fermented foods and nutrition said straight off if I had Chemotherapy she would not want to help me as my system is damaged and nothing would work. That was a blow as you can imagine. As I have the benign mediastinal paravertebral tumor at T 6 as well, no health practitioner feels comfortable treating me. Physiotherapists will look but are afraid to do anything. One Chiropracter in Cork was great, but too far away as travel for longer that 10 to 15 minutes makes my back muscles go into spasm....And it takes 70 minutes to get to him. He also thinks the benign tumor at T6 innervates the gut/diaphragm, stomach, gallbladder and small bowel....he thinks the tumor should be removed especially as I cannot regain my weight despite eating a high amount of healthy foods. And the Chemotherapy with 2 different drugs could be the main issue...the after effects...as the Neurosurgeons I saw about the tumor think that I had the benign tumor for a very long time....and I had no gut issues until I had tge Molar pregnancy and the Chemotherapy to treat that.
And exercise brings on the muscle spasms and worsens the muscle wasting. So it's a tough one to figure out for the Physiotherapists..... I will see a very good Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner for pain control and herbs to support the gut next month hopefully....I saw her before Christmas , just waiting for new appointment. Oh yes...the tug of war game gets played here too by the way with my sweet dogs....one of them in particular loves it so much!😂And the cold spell had me bringing in plenty of wood these past few weeks...Thank you so so much for your great advice! Wishing you and your loved ones lots of great health always and enjoy your lives! Take care. Angie

Preserving muscle mass is crucial for longevity as you age. Exercise, proper protein intake, and sleep are key. Sarcopenia, age-related muscle loss, increases health risks. 55 y/o male here. I work out at least 3x a week with moderate-heavy weights...intensely, not just going through the motions like I see many my age and over doing. I almost never eat anything before noon and when I do it's fresh citrus fruit/juice. I don't eat after 6 pm. The last 2 times I ate grass fed ground beef from Whole Foods and the last burger I ate from 5 Guys all gave me allergic reactions which I don't understand, so I don't eat red meat anymore. My primary foods are eggs, pine nuts, walnuts, and pecans, and organic oatmeal and buckwheat. I take a grass fed goat whey shake once a day for extra protein. For supplements I take a vegetarian superfood, 5 grams of creatine monohydrate, 4 grams of taurine, and 400 mg of magnesium lysinate glycinate twice a day within my 6 hr food window. I recently increased my creatine to 10g from 5g and my taurine from 4g to 8g and my body is growing like I'm in my 20's. I rarely get over 6 hours of sleep a night but it's very deep, restful sleep. When I wake up, usually between 5-7am, I am UP and ready to go. No grogginess at all. Maybe I'm an alien or a freak of nature I don't know, but this all works for me.
My point with this is, although I watch practically every video Dr Berg makes and have had many great benefits from doing so, everyone is different. Things that work for a lot of other people just do not work for me. You have to tune into your body and pay attention to the language it speaks to your mentality instead of just deciding that something is good for you because everyone else does it. Your body knows what's best for it. Learn to listen to and follow its lead. It won't let you down! And, thank you Dr Berg for so many great videos over the years. I lift weights 3 days a week to keep in shape. I am very healthy, I don't take any medications ever. I eat 200 grams of protein per day to keep up my muscle mass. I have always told people that muscle mass is the true fountain of youth. I also work full time doing my day job which is nuclear physics in which I hold a PhD in from UCLA. I find that my brain appears to be getting smarter and functioning better as I age. I also ride my 200 Horse Power super bike over 100 miles per day on my daily freeway commute out here on the mean streets of California. Stay strong and stay healthy! 😊

I love Dr. Berg and so happy for his channel, however it can be overwhelming bcuz the truth is following a healthy life style is a career and you cannot take off your focus or lax in discipline for the rest of your life. Im not new to this lifestyle it just gets harder with age. "to me". Planning keto meals shopping keto..avoiding gatherings indulged with carbohydrates. Exercise regimes , shopping for the best supplements and grass fed chickens, organic everything you can afford and its expensive! Avoiding the pitfalls in our environment bcuz its design to be unhealthy and poison food is cheaper. Its a career. ❤

    Video editing suggestion:
This topic is targeted at folks over 50. But most of the exercise-visuals are of younger people who are quite athletic & buff. In addition, they are doing strenuous feats that are outside of the exercise parameters for many seniors, particularly those that have been sedentary for a long time. Folks over 50 years can make enormous health gains beginning with very modest strength-training regimens, and then build from there. In future videos please include footage of seniors exercising in this more modest range so those that watch will be more likely to embrace the important message you are sharing.

I am running my farm by myself since my husband had a heart attack over a year ago. I am lifting 50lb bags of feed, stacking hay, feeding hay. We heat with wood, so I am stacking, cutting, and splitting wood. My husband sits in his chair all day. He has lost a lot of weight. He is less than 110lbs. In order to get him out of his chair I have asked him to feed the chickens in the evening. I just have to make sure I fill the feed barrel when it gets low because he can't lift 50lbs anymore. I do my best to get him to eat more meat, but he believes the doctors. 😕

I eat and love red meat but can’t eat much at a time.. I lost inches literally my clothes fall off .. I don’t like sugar but I am thinking I should eat a few cookies or maybe healthy ice cream? Great point! Testosterone levels have been decreasing over the decades in the general male population.

I'm 64 and still strength training 3x per week. Multi joint exercises are best. Don't forget leg day🙂. I'm a light sleeper and have been getting 6.5 - 7 hours of sleep since childhood. Can that be enough? Otherwise, recovery seems to be consistent. Thanks for the tips Dr. Berg!

Made the yogurt a week ago for the first time. I eat it with 5 blackberries. I'm making the second batch with heavy cream instead of 1/2 and 1/2 to reduce tartness. How will I know I'm gaining muscle and not fat? 69 y.o. female here.

And Drs tried to convince me i had IBS despite my bringing up blood, and all my bloodtests out of kilter, and x-rays and Mri plus Endoscopy showing Hiatus Hernia and Hyperinflated lungs ( from the prolonged partial blockage..gas build up) plus Gallbladder sludge 😢
Plus an incidental finding of a benign, mediastinal paravertebral 1 inch diameter Tumor at T6...2 Neurosurgeon have said to leave it alone.....other Consultants plus multiple Physiotherapists, 2 Osteopaths, 2 Chiropracters think there could be a link to my digestive issues....I cannot sit without pain, feel the Tumor worse when lying down or driving....so I am stuck in the house mostly. Am in Ireland....small population so the Drs do not come across these type of tumors often. They don't want to know. 😢
I have all the Mri scans...x rays, blood tests that show there is something going on....but it is Ibs. I feel so alone with all this....have lost faith in most Drs. There are so many badly educated, especially on Nutrition...it is absolutely incredible how little they know. Or it's better to say how they chose to ignore the foundation of good health.
