That was oddly, very satisfying to watch. Unfortunately, it also made me realise that I'm past it now. My back couldn't do it. I'll be looking forward to the following installments. Still, as I'm an ex-Jesmond lad now retired to the south of France, at least I can enjoy the sunshine on my parched patch. 🌞
As someone who loves helping wildlife in their garden that before shot looks better than the after one in my opinion. I can only hope you checked for animals such as hedgehogs, which that before shot looked like a fantastic habitat for them, before clearing it all. The after shot would work for someone like me if the lawn was replaced with a wildflower meadow, that along with the bushy shrubs etc in the borders would be heaven & make for a fantastic wildlife friendly garden.
The garden first year transformation aka how much fun Andy & Mrs Mac had in the mini digger 😁 It doesn't half remind me of what a mad variety of weather we've had in the last year or so also.
There is nothing quite a satisfying as enjoying the results of hard work, whatever that work is. Gardening has a special place in the enjoyment of hard work. Well done, a good base has been established. Hope you make time to enjoy it with Mrs Mac.
There's so much enjoyment watching new shrubs fill out and grow. It takes about 2 years for them to put down a good root system and get established, but those first flowers and colourful foliage make it worth the wait.
Wow, what a difference. Give yourself and your wife a big pat on the back - you've both earned it. I would imagine that in a few years time your garden is going to look really beautiful. Must admit, I'm quite envious of the river at the bottom - I wish I had that in mine. Its been so enjoyable watching you make over the house and garden. Thank you for all the posts.
So many projects you work and work and the finished product of most of your labor it hidden behind a wall ceiling or someplace where few ever see it. This garden project ,while a lot of work rewards you with a beautiful area you can enjoy every day, Very Nice !!!
Well done Mr and Mrs Mac, together you have done a marvelous job with what could only be described as a jungle. House and garden looking great, sit back for a bit and enjoy the good spell of weather we are experiencing at the moment, you well deserve a break.
It took me five years of literally back breaking work with help from family and friends. But my goal of looking out my kitchen window and seeing color all season has been achieved. I lower costs by going to the local big box store and buying end of season clearance items.
Wow that's beautiful. Won't mind some tips on your autumn garden since I'm in the process of getting our wild garden sorted in time for autumn. Looking forward it. Thank you Macs
You and the Mrs. have done an amazing work here, Andy. We get to watch the highlights but we don't see the blood, sweat, and undoubtedly tears that go into a labour of love such as this. I had almost forgotten the jungle of a garden you first bought. So wonderful what you have accomplished. Well done and cheers to you and the family!
Andy, what a transformation! You and Mrs Mac certainly win the first prize for transforming a garden almost entirely by hand and at low cost. This was a tremendous amount of work and the new backyard looks awesome. Whenever I need encouragement to make landscaping and hardscaping work I will come back to this video. Congratulations and looking forward to see how you will transform your garden further. Well done!
Looks fab Andy & mrs Mac 👏👏👏👏👏 I’ve just done our garden but have opted for decking, flagging and planters as we have two dogs that love to dig 🤬🤬🤯🤯( even in planters 😡😡) Like you we live on a river ( tees) so we have lots of green as well as invasive plants too 🤦♂️🤦♂️but my multi tool strimmer is keeping them under control we’re needed Enjoy the garden and I look forward to next bud Andy 👍👍👍
Super job guys, I was unfortunate to have the dreaded Japanese knotweed, had it treated & it’s all gone, had leave my garden grow wild for a year, after it’s all sorted, so appreciate all the hard work that goes into a garden
What did you treat it with? I have spindly prickers that have deep roots and I pull them out, they grow back, I pull again rinse and repeat. Tried diesel fuel, white vinegar and concentrated roundup.
@@freetolook3727 I used a company.TP knotweed solutions, they’re work all over the uk,they use a Natural herbicide that’s very efficient, 1st treatment was done in June 2017, and the treatment was that effective that it started killing it within 4 hours, after a second treatment in November, it was completely dead, in January 18 they came along & cleared all the canes, 4 years on , there’s been no sign of it returning
All looks and feels very familiar - digging endless roots, random buried 'stuff' in your way, and the tinge of regret when you have to remove a tree that's just in the wrong place; all things I've experienced recently when clearing parts of our quite large and very mature garden to make it easier for us to look after so we can spend what little time we do have in the garden on cultivating fruit & veg and enjoying the view. Looking forward to your tips on planting next episode...and accompanying you on the journey when the next phase and veg plots are done!
A vast difference! I've read that the UK, like parts of the US, has had a hot, dry summer - not ideal for starting lawns and shrubs, but yours looks green and healthy. Once everything becomes well established, the maintenance should be easy.
Soooo, I've been lurking since the Pandemic shutdowns (discovering your vids helped me survive same, with most of a Saturday and some of the following Sunday spent catching up). This time lapse though - BRILLANT! All the memories past and present come barreling through. Enough to have me comment, at last. You and your misses, solid gold!
i don't usually post comments on videos but my gosh this is incredible.. in the process of going from a flat to a house and seeing this has filled me with alot of hope for any wild and wacky gardens that i've came across on my house hunting. very well done to both of you all the hard work and effort has well and truly paid off!!!
The garden, the renovation, the extension and the studio all in 18 months. You and Mrs Mac are absolute heroic grafters. Hope you take time for a beer in the garden to enjoy it before winter.
@2:25 Oops, that's a North American bird you dubbed in there. Holidayed three times in rural Canada and that sound brings back memories. Thanks to Turdeau I don't think I'll ever be back.
Hats off to you guys. I've been watching since you took this property on and it's been such a huge transformation. Sit back in that beautiful garden and have yourselves a few bevvies, you deserve it.
I just was tackling my backyard yesterday after 2 years. It was way overgrown. We finally got some weather under 90 degrees after a month long heatwave. I took down a tree that was right against my neighbor's garage. It was over 15 feet tall, 8" thick. The weeds in front had totally overgrown the pavers. I still have half to go.
Great work guys . I hate gardening and we have a new build mess at the back of our house . Been in 2 1/2 years now but can’t afford to get it done as it’s so bloody big 😮💨😭🧱👍🏽
Brilliant!! Lots of very hard and with great perseverance towards a bold envisioned goal you and Mrs Mac have been rewarded with an awesome home and garden space! Congratulations!
Fantastic job, great launch pad for future plans. Have you done a video on the lower end of the garden by the water, will be a nice place for a quiet brew. Also have you thought of repositioning the tool shed behind the studio to give you uninterrupted views down the garden ?
oof, wild plants is one thing, but when there's plastics and metal bits all over the place that job gets really annoying (and dangerous for the tools). talking of experience here. on my ground there's a lot of "trash" buried in the ground sadly, so digging any wholes usually leads to real frustration. Last time I put up a new wall to take care of level difference between neighbors ground I found an old piece of iron pipe, 4 inch diameter and at least 5 yards long...that kind of stops your digging progression for a bit...
Did you consider planting cover crops for the areas that you intended to convert from grass in the future? Plants that could just be chopped in position to build the soil a bit, I mean. I (by "I", I really mean my wife overruled me!) made the mistake of planting grass in my garden with no thought to future development. It's still grass today because I just never made the time to plant other stuff, and we can't agree what would look best! Had we just left the soil, or put in a comparatively ugly cover crop, it'd have forced our hand as well as got us used to the delineation of the space into planting and grass.
Looking good & a great transformation. With the shed being opposite the stufio it makes the garden look narrow. Would it not have been better behind the studio or is there a specific reason it’s where it is?
Amazing transformation - really back breaking work. Looks fantastic - did you get a stump grinder in for the larger tree trunks? How is the lawn coping with the drought? Great stuff.
You and Mrs Mac have really earned sitting in the garden with a cool drink looking at what you've both achieved.
What a transformation! I had forgotten just how bad it was originally
That's a transformation to be proud of.
As someone who loves helping wildlife in their garden that before shot looks better than the after one in my opinion. I can only hope you checked for animals such as hedgehogs, which that before shot looked like a fantastic habitat for them, before clearing it all.

Impressive transformation !!!! 👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
All that and the build, too! What a lot of work, but it looks wonderful!

That was wonderful Andy and Mrs Mac'. Well done. 💖🥳
I really enjoyed that video.👍
It looks absolutely beautiful mate, you and your better half should be very proud.
This video imo is one of your best.👌 👍
It is said that you can't make a silk purse from a sows ear but the two of you proved that you really can. Your garden is beautiful! Enjoy!!!
Stunning mate a true testament to you and your good lady.
Looks class. I reckon a nice pergola would be good in the garden and a good video too. You must be so happy with that
Wow what a transformation
There's so much enjoyment watching new shrubs fill out and grow. It takes about 2 years for them to put down a good root system and get established, but those first flowers and colourful foliage make it worth the wait.
Luuurvley job there you two, looking great.

You did a good job at the house and the back Garden and I enjoy your videos every time I watch them

Wow, I can give you no other worthy complement. Enjoy the garden, you & Mrs Mac deserve it after this year's hard work 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Well done Mr and Mrs Mac, together you have done a marvelous job with what could only be described as a jungle. House and garden looking great, sit back for a bit and enjoy the good spell of weather we are experiencing at the moment, you well deserve a break.
Brilliant. Well done. Time for a nap.
You and Mrs Mac have created a really beautiful garden and now you both deserve to enjoy it....Well done..!!
Good job, my back started aching just watching this.
It took me five years of literally back breaking work with help from family and friends.
But my goal of looking out my kitchen window and seeing color all season has been achieved.

Garden is looking great.
Brilliant job,, could have quite the landscape business going there

What a transformation. Both of you get sat down and enjoy it.
That's a good reminder of how much you have actually done
Wow 👏 😮 👏 well done
Gosh! After all that hard work it’s looking really good. Now it’s time to sit in your garden and enjoy it. Take your time with the planting 🤩
Fantastic effort. Looking really good.
Looks fab Andy & mrs Mac 👏👏👏👏👏

What don’t you know ...... amazing
What a transformation! Well done The Macs. The studio is looking incredible too.
An amazing amount of work. Thanks for the inspiration as always
What a transformation. Well done Mrs Mac and your good self.

This time lapse though - BRILLANT! All the memories past and present come barreling through. Enough to have me comment, at last. You and your misses, solid gold!
What a fabulous garden now. That was trojan work. Bravo to both of you.
Patience, hard work and perseverance is the key Mr & Mrs Mac.....👍
Love this. I'm inspired to tackle my overgrown jungle. Might have to wait for the new year now.
That look absolutely boss. You can Mrs Mac have done a great job, particularly considering all the other work going on in parallel! Congratulations.
Amazing video as always, hard work pays off 👌

exellent well done you guys
Good job fella
You are doing a brilliant job. It’s taken me 36 years to get a nice garden. It was a filled in ironstone mine when we arrived 🌞
What a transformation...it looked back breaking but, was well worth the hard graft! I'm sure this house is sooo glad it found you and Mrs Mc.
What an amazing Transformation you have both done together really lovely mate well done to you both
@2:25 Oops, that's a North American bird you dubbed in there. Holidayed three times in rural Canada and that sound brings back memories. Thanks to Turdeau I don't think I'll ever be back.
Congratulations Team Mac. Well done!
Cracking job Andy. Looking forward to seeing you bouncing on the trampoline 😂
Wonderfull, well done.
Thanks Andy, this what drew us to this series in the first place. Imagine that your neighbour's drew a sigh of relief when you moved in.
Really lovely
Wow! It looks great! Love the beautiful expanse of green grass. Take care, and be well.
Beautiful
Great job…
That looks lovely Andy. You and your wife have done a great job. Can't wait to see it evolve
Hats off to you guys. I've been watching since you took this property on and it's been such a huge transformation. Sit back in that beautiful garden and have yourselves a few bevvies, you deserve it.
Good enough for croquet!
Lovely!
Fabulous transformation and all your hard work shows!

Really fantastic result , great video 👍🏻enjoy your lovely space
Nice video. Really shows how much work the two of you have put in over the last year.
It looks absolutely lovely. A perfect place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. You guys have done an amazing job. Congratulations.
Top job as always👍🏻
You have found the famous and mysterious paving slab graveyard!
Well done both. Great job 👍👍👍
What a huge change , and while you have been remodelling the house. Well done to both of you
Nice work. As usual
Quite the journey, well done 👍🏻
Fantastic job, great launch pad for future plans. Have you done a video on the lower end of the garden by the water, will be a nice place for a quiet brew. Also have you thought of repositioning the tool shed behind the studio to give you uninterrupted views down the garden ?
Still jealous of your garden
So beautiful love the shed. Come to mine 😀😀🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great work guys. 👏👏👏

wow, but my back hurts just watching you.
Now you need to have a backyard BBQ for the neighbors when inside is finished.
