The show first aired in 2005, and the events of the first season happened in 2005 too. Since then it continued the same way - 15 seasons, 15 years in show time. In season 1 Dean was 26, Sam 22, and the actors were the same age - with 4 years age difference. The show has many "monster of the week" episodes, but the main arc of the whole show is the brothers' relationship. Also with 15 seasons and 327 episodes it's the longest-running sci-fi/genre series in the history of American broadcast television.
the first five seasons are some of the most underrated seasons of television ever, in my opinion. If you were charmed by this first episode, the rest of this series is going to be right up your alley
The response has been a welcome surprise! Thank you all for your comments and sentiments! We will for sure keep on going as Episode 1 was a pleasant surprise! Stay tuned for our continued reactions!
Fun fact: back then, they were using practical visual effects instead of digital, so the fire on the ceiling was real. Today the use of this kind of practical visual effects is illegal because it’ s really dangerous. When Jared/Sam was lying on the bed and Jensen/Dean burst into the room to save him, there was a live fire on the roof. The safety people told Jared and Jensen, that the moment they start feeling hot they should drop everything and run.
Hate to say it - Googling has been a thing since the late 90s... This was 2005. In the original version, after the conversation about the tapes and the music, they drove off to 'Back in Black' by AC/DC. Hitch was, this was before streaming was really a thing, so they only bought the rights for the original airing, and I think DVD release. Then they realised streaming was going to be what it is, but they had to re-do all the music. Eric Kripke was really careful with music choices for the entire time he was on the show, but obvs it was obliterated by the rights issue. Worth getting hold of the older version if you can find it, though it's not going to be a massive thing if not.
i’m a little late but this show is so raw. unfortunately people are mildly spoiling already but the 5 scenes are seriously one of the best arcs i’ve ever seen in television
It will be worth your time. It´s a great series with an awesome, charismatic and talented cast and crew, the story wins your heart, I watched all of it and I don´t regret it.
Ya know how in this episode, there are a couple of times when you can sort of see what's coming? That is not always so.. the phrase "I did not see that coming" could be a drinking game with SPN reactions. If you're watching on netflix, be aware, they changed the tunes for season 1 and in some places, it does make a difference. Tip for avoiding spoilers: Don't go meme hunting at tumbler.. supernatural has a meme for everything. My favorite season is 11. It will be a hot minute before you get there.
Sadly some of the music that was originally used hasn’t made it onto the version showing on streaming services (presumably it’s too expensive) so you might be missing out on some amazing classic rock cues.
Glad you liked it :) Would love to see you continue your reactions for this show. BTW Dean was originally written as a Han Solo type and Sam as a Luke Skywalker type ;)
I subbed just because of this show. Theres not many reactors who appreciate this series and i'm 100% sure if you continue to watch this, you wont regret it :)) you'll thank us(fandom) later.. another subb from meee🙂
buckle up for the ride, this show is awesome. I loved it from episode one to the very last one. Also remember when you are comparing it to other stuff that this started in 2005 so in a lot of cases this came first and others followed.
I am a new sub I enjoyed your reaction I understand the whole copyright thing but having the screen covered kinda bothered me. Appreciated it more with the title across the screen Will continue watching your reaction
Appreciate the feedback. We are testing the waters more little by little with how much full screen we can get away with. But when we have long bouts of commentary, we will typically zoom in to avoid showing the footage at full because Netflix is persnickity
Not true. When they were writing season 5 scripts the show was already renewed for season 6. Also, one of the best SPN episodes were in later seasons - French Mistake, Baby, Sacrifice, Don't call me Shurley etc.
@SuperNovaSavage yeah its *your* true ending. Who's to say they won't like it. I liked almost all the seasons. I would be more than willing to watch them again. So personally I vouch for them to watch the seasons and form their own thoughts. The opinions of others shouldn't be taken as fact, too much can sway poeple.
@@apollyonlavey1553 news flash most people did not like it like that,it was more of "well im here so i might as well see where it goes" and "i like this character so i wanna see him change" also it would be a horrible idea to react to all 15 seasons because that would take way too much time for something most people are not gonna watch
@SuperNovaSavage yeah and "News flash" not everyone is you. Arrogantly assuming people won't like something for the sole fact that you didn't, doesn't make any sense. It's not really your place to tell them it's a waste when clearly something went right, the show went on for 15 seasons and a lot where sad it's over. If they don't record the reactions that's fine. But souring the opinion off the bat for them just seams kind like the kind of thing you don't want to do to new viewers.

Wow, such a long history! Thanks for the info!

yep but seasons 9 and 10 are kinda trash tho

watch the first 5 seasons and drop the rest its a waste of time and season 5 was the actual ending of the series until it got renewed
