I'm looking to ride this route next month....what percentage would you say is pavement vs. gravel? Big thanks.... And any tips would be greatly appreciate ;)
Thanks for watching. It's rough and slow because gravel/non paved roads are likely about 1/3 of the race. You can check my daily reports for tips s-ultracycling.com. All the best to you
@@konanstephens3515 you're very welcome. It's a tough and humbling event. Kudos for doing it. The extreme temperatures , lack of services and bad pavement made it that much more harder. It's not unusual to go 8mph on the gravel and what you thought would be 5 hours to next resupply stop ends up being 10 hours
Almost non issue as majority of the route is on trails/ bike paths, well 1/3. But also arrival times are important near big towns. Nothing really major until you cross the Mississippi river but even then you are on Ohio to Erie trail for almost 300 miles and then GAP trail out of Pittsburg to DC. Super safe course. Will feel isolated and alone in the wild west for sure, you might only see animals for days :)
@@s-ultracycling I did Northcape 4000 where traffic was almost no issue but I always read bad things about American drivers which is why I was sceptical but I think I will sign up
Saludos my friend!!

Much bigger issue on TransAm but Bike Nonstop is one of the safest routes. I'll be rooting for you. Go for it
