I wish we can just like talk to our bodies be like “chill bruh it’s cool I’m wanting to lose some fat but don’t worry we’re not gonna starve the faster you help me lose this fat the faster we can get to maintaining it and I can eat more again. Soo I’d appreciate it if you’d help a brother and stop burning my muscle and just burn my fat? Okay? Okay thanks”
THANK YOU!! Finally someone who explains this in detail. I’ve been under eating for years without knowing and faced many issues such as bloating, stomach pain, extreme hunger accompanied by other issues and over time weight gain. I’ve recently began tracking my calories and staying consistent with my meals which I can say I am beginning to see and feel a difference. Meal prep has been a huge help with time also. I mean how many of us have time to cook every single day?! Thank you for explaining weight gain in calorie deficient. Feeling confident enough to continue with my PT qualification now that I am getting back on track myself and feeling confident and comfortable within myself enough to train others. 🤍
If you take your body weight and multiply it by 12, that is (allegedly) the number of calories you need to maintain your weight. I weighed 355 pounds on May 30th. I was eating approximately 3,000 calories a day giving me a caloric deficit of 1,260 per day, or roughly 2.5 pounds per week weight reduction. I weighed again yesterday, July 31st. I am now 333 pounds. I just readjusted my caloric intake. I can now eat 2500 calories a day to maintain that weight loss. Losing weight slowly is allowing my skin to shrink along with my weight. Hopefully, I will reach my goal without looking like a gigantic flying squirrel. If not, I will pay for loose skin surgery by making a series of Squirrel-man videos where I freak people out in public doing the mostly naked Squirrel Dance. I’ll have to look into those thong suspenders I’ve seen online....and compose a really catchy Squirrel-man theme song to dance to.
Great video. I've been through this for the last two almost three years. I never reduced calories & had no issue with weight loss, but then when I reduced calories to 1200, my weight has been a constant battle & I was feeling so run down like you said from working out & not eating enough. I see so many people thinking that's what's good for them & I just want to scream that it's not because of my battle & others that have gone through it. And more & more fitness trainers are coming forward & saying how damaging it is, so I'm glad they are. Your videos are very informative & I hope more people come out with this to tell people that calorie restriction isn't great for them or their metabolism.
Sometimes it is water weight. If you are working out muscle weighs more but it takes up less space. Check your measurements. My doctor who is a male told me HATES the bmi chart. He told me becareful with Keto because it can blow your liver out and you dont NOT want to be on a liver transplant list. He told me be happy with your body and eat natural food to enjoy.
love your videos, straight to the point, you cover all the issues ive encountered from excessive exercise and dieting: ammenoria and thyroid issues (hashimotos). Doctors don't get it! Plus you don't blab on and pose like a bimbo. Love it! Great work!
Thank you for this refreshing confirmation of EXACTLY what’s happened to me. I’ve been that girl (eating 800-1000 calories per day & exercising as much as possible) for over 10 years. Metabolism slowed drastically after a car accident limited mobility for months, + several surgeries. Now I’m 46 with HYPERthyroid, STILL can’t lose the weight (continued to gain until starting IF) . Now 30 lbs MUST GO, working on mending my metabolism by consciously eating more (continuing good choices). Thanks for your help!! 😅💕
Maybe you can try what I do. It's just a suggestion. Eat a lot of food, but clean food (not junk food) and exercise a lot, not just cardio but muscle training. I take in at least 3,000 calories a day. I think you can increase your metabolism to 2,000 a day and not gain weight eventually. Also, make sure you eat a high fiber diet and drink tons of plain water.
Video topic idea: how to rest in yourself not always caring what other people think about your face, body and clothes etc. how to just really love yourself.
Audra: Thank-you! I've searched to try and make sense with what my body is doing. I'm older so I don't get periods anymore but, I appreciate your advice because you put it into very simple terms that I can understand. I will stick with you and hope that you can address weight issues with older women. I am 58 and EVERYTHING is slowing down!
Hi Audra, I just want to tell you that every time I watch one of your vids it is always on target with what I have researched, you always make so much sense but in a very easy and understandable way. I miss seeing you and hope you are well. Take care.
Idk how i came across your video but thank god I did!! Reading your caption too explains me to a ‘T’; waiting and wishing for a better life and hating myself and my body. Thank you for this insight!!!
Love your videos. Just listening to you talk is so much help, but I'm definitely going to invest in your book. I have my period, but I am definitely a exercise addict and just need to get back into a healthy mindset.
Lose muscle and you slow down the metabolism. Our bodies don't count calories. The body stores dietary fat as a back up energy, uses carbs for immediate energy and uses protein to build muscle or rebuild tissue.
It's extremely simple, calculate BMR, mine is 2528cal at current weight. Decrease calories per day, example 2000cal, 500cal deficit for approx 1lb loss a week. You may plateau and need to adjust along the way but likely if you're having "800" a day and exercising and no weight loss at all??? You're calculating your calorie intake WRONG!
Hey I’ve seen a few of your comments on these weight loss videos and I need help knowing how much I got to eat and burn each day. I’m 1.82m (6 foot) and weigh quite a lot at 218KG (260 pounds). I used all types of calorie calculators but they are seem too much calories to consume each day. I’m not sure if I’m wrong but the online calculator is pretty absurd to my eye. Do you think I could lose weight consuming 1500 calories each day and burning 400 calories? Any information helps, thanks pal
Omg you look amazing you're so gorgeous. Great helpful video thank you!!! Love the top. I feel this is happening to me or weight just staying the same. It is stressful on the body for sure. Your body holds onto everything. It's hard to fully let go and eat in abundance without feeling guilt. I'm there mostly but some days its hard. xxx
We have all heard this same exact advice before no offense but it does not apply to everyone in fact a lot of people. I used to run track in high school and lift weights at the gym eat lean meat and vegetables maybe some berries and yogurt protein shakes BCAAs Studied everything there was to know about bodybuilding getting lean and the whole process but after a year long struggle of not budging around 145 lbs and getting called thick or chubby I did what everyone does modified my diet calorie wise. I did reevaluate my weights to cardio ratio but I was already on a program that slowly does that over time anyways to get you leaned out. I finally started losing after I cut my calories..by a lot!!! I could run and lift weights all day long but it never made up for caloric intake. I didn’t even start to lose till I dropped to 1000 per day which was still a very slow loss like half a pound every 2 weeks. Then I stalled at 130. So like your friend I ended up around 600-700 calories per day in order to achieve what most would consider just a normal physique for my size...110-115 at 5’3. This was all the proof I needed to see my small body didn’t need any more then that to function and maintain a healthy weight. I believe this is the same for many people they just can’t eat 1200-1500 calories and be a trim person. I wish there were more videos about those that have gone through the right process like I did but still could not manage to lose weight till they found their set point which seems really low to most and unfair at that!! But it is what it is. It’s like some people can woof a cheese burger daily eat candy drink sugary coffee drinks and carb load do no workouts sit at a desk job but manage to look super trim. Genetics do play a slight role in some of this forced calorie restriction for many people/idea. Take a look at your family for instance...mine all have to restrict calories to extremes or do Keto but still count calories/macros in order to look remotely trim. This isn’t the case for everyone. Studies have already come out proving this and I saw first hand with my ex husband how much he ate in a day. He couldn’t put weight on if he drank peanut butter cookie lard milkshakes all day. some are lucky I guess
I have low hormonal drive, no period, gained weight. Don't seep good....yet I am warm, have great energy. Am I halfway, at least, to being recovered..? You're hitting all these questions I have spot on, but can I get your book from the library?
So if this is true which I’m not docking you bc there’s so much research to support this ... than I just don’t understand why someone with an eating disorder can become extremely underweight. Wouldn’t their body hold weight and stop shrinking at some point?
TheVaporess your Body needs nutrition to survive so if you don't have any food intake your Body going to start eating itself speaking of the saved Body fat you still have. If there is no more Body fat left you going to die
What helped me was not putting too much products like creams, makeup or something else. I wash my face with a soup that a dermatologist sent me and nothing else. I used to put coconut oil too but not anymore, sometimes I breakout too but not too much like I used to
+Sam Brooke this might not be an issue at all for you, but I notice that making sure to get foods with a good amount of vitamin E does wonders for my skin, but fortified foods weren't good enough. When I'm eating mangoes or sweet potatoes (nuts and spinach are good sources too) consistently my skin gets a pink flush and smooths out, looking very young and I rarely have acne unless it's hormonal or from makeup/dirty phone, etc. I don't know if this will help, but thought I'd toss it your way!
I eat 95% clean, not excluding grains, salt, and nut fats etc. 2 months ago I slowly increased my calorie intake from 1,700-1,900 to 2,100-2,400. I exercise (mostly HIIT) but take breaks for muscle recovery. The scale has never gone down, I'm 5 foot 4 and went from 130 to 143 pounds. I'm having sort of disbelief panic attacks at those numbers. My waist, bum, and thighs gained an inch. Help! When might the calorie increase pay off😭 I'm desperate. Btw, my body temp is super low, my hands are literal ice, what am I doing wrong?
@@jahsoka8307 Just try listening to your body, and take time to understand what intuitive means. Be intuitive with both eating and training. Trust me, youll gain a tiny lil bit of fat in the process, but once youve put on a lil muscle after a few months, trust me the weight will fall off. If you get discouraged, just remember why you are doing it in the first place!💞😄😄🌈😀
@@paradyseperez5127 thank you for your suggestion. I tried it out and so far so good😊 I haven't gained any weight since starting my break. Friday will be the end of the 4th week, so I'll start building muscle then and hope for the best
I am trapped in a total nightmare. I was on 2,000 calories per day a few weeks ago. Then I got hit by gastroparesis and struggled to eat 1,600 per day. My body freaked out completely and started rapidly gaining fat. For about a month,I have bern eating really stupidly, unable to get above 600 calories per day. I am petrified of a massive rebound. I have severe gastroparesis (It's a vicious cycle, fuelled by not eating enough but you can't eat because of the discomfort) It was a painstaking process getting to 2,000 calories, now I have blown it. I think no matter what I do now,I will blow up like a barrage balloon. I am so worried. The longer it goes on,the worse it's going to be.
thxs for sharing Audra! Maybe you can tell somethink about repairing the metabolic rate, slowly increase calories... or in a short time.. I did some intermetting fasting for a while, skipping breakfast, but did gain weight and never have hungry in the morning after a period of time..
Ty this (girl) IS ME!! I AM EATING 800 OR LESS A DAY AND 2 HOURS + OF CARDIO AND RESISTANCE TRAINING and I have plateaued for almost 3 months the scale stays the same I have not gained I have maintained but it is so exhausting I am really not hungry that's not the problem the problem is I have plateaued and the scale will not move I feel like I am doing all I can do I can't go any lower on calories I cannot do any more cardio or resistance training I resonated with this video a lot and will take your advice and I hope this works I will be back to update and let you know if I am able to finish losing these 20 lb that I've been trying for the last 3 months to lose BTW I have already lost 35
Your videos are so helpful, thank you so much! Everything sounds locical and right but it's so so hard to go out of this circle. I'm trying hard to increase my calories but at the same time I increase my wourkouts cardio and long walks :(
Hi Audra, Does this mean that if i have metabolic damage and I add calories back in slowly and STOP ALL EXERCISE, it well begin to regulate again and I will slowly be able to eat more and not do exercise at all to maintain my weight while eating lots?
Athena WTF of course it isn't okay. The absolute minimum anyone should eat is 2000 cals (this considering a sedentery adult female). Please eat more! You're only damaging your body by eating that little especially if you're working out, which means you should have a higher intake (somewhere to 2500 as minimum). Please learn to take care of yourself properly. Don't mess up your body. Remember that you should eat to exercise, not exercise to eat.
You're right Vera. I just believed in calories in vs. Calories out at that time. And I didn't really know how many calories my body actually needed. :) But now I'm trying to eat around 2000 calories, and I feel so much better! Thanks for your advise!
@@cheersdarlin1516 So right. For a women even who works out like I do 1500 calories are fine. If you eat good healthy foods and not garbage. Meaning foods with healthy fats and fiber which keeps you full. I calories and carb cycle. It helps to break through plateaus period.
For me it all started last year when my sister said I was fat.Nownlooking back I wasn't fat.Bit now I am bc I've done all these diets over the year.I only gained fat.Im 14now.I don't know anymore if I should just not eat or just eat 1000 a day.Do fruits cause weight gain?I've lost 4pounds on nothing but watermelon over a few months. Is it the fish and animal products I'm eating? Is fish,Greek yogurt,eggs---IS IT CUZ IM EATING COOKED FOOD??!Help...I'm loosing hope slowly. I'm mostly sad cuz this caused me to underperform during major games with my sports team.Help me.Im fucking lost,I'm worrying about eating ,I think I'm stressing about it. I've stopped exercising bc as you've said. But it only makes me fatter. I don't even know anymore,I eat fruits, veggies, eggs, dates, healthy fats, and healthy protein sources and I only see the opposite of my goal. 😧😩😞😞
ok ive been doing alot of reading and watching of video's about loosing weight its very simple and you make it seem like its that hardest thing to do, ok first get a calorie counter type in your weight , height and age, and your activity level , now it will give you a number for men something like 2100 calories to maintain weight as an unactive person and 1600 to loose 1 pound a week , and for woman like 1800 to maintain and 1200 to loose weight, now when you reach the point where your asking urself why am i not loosing any more weight the scales have stopped, its because you have to readjust the calculator, your weight has gone down and thus the amount of calories you need to eat per day has now changed, just try this and dont listen to everyone on the internet, work out what works for you
It's called starvation mode , your body knows it won't get much food or when it will get it . Your body will now them try to keep all the food it can because doesent know when it will be fed again .
She wont address it because its bullshit.... as per my other post, how were holocaust victims skinny, unless someone knows a fat one...... which wouldnt surprose me on here....lol
A person that have been restricting their calories 1600-1800 cals per day, that work out for 1 hour a day 4x a week, burn the same amount of calories ? That a person that does the same thing but don't restrict?
How the heck can you only be taking in 400 to 500 calories a day? Even eating one muffin at a gas station has 700 calories alone! What do you eat in a day that only has that few amount of calories? If you want to increase calorie intake, eat some nuts and use healthy monounsaturated fats in salads and cooking. Have dark chocolate as dessert after meals. I wonder what the heck you eat in a day to take so few calories. Are you anorexic?
A lot of times people who are eating that little are eating things that are low cal, low fat, and give you enough nutrients. On one hand you could be eating 400-500 in fruits and veggies, or you could eat that much in one meal of maybe two chicken strips and some fries. It really depends, but a lot of people who suffer from anorexia count calories constantly. Not all foods with a low calorie number are necessarily unhealthy.
@@kellysova114 Even if you eat 1 pound of frozen veggies like carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower that is 150 calories alone. That would only fill up a normal person for 2 hours. Even eating healthy foods like fruits have like 100 calories or more per piece of fruit. Also, some people take in more calories than they estimate. I eat healthy and clean most of the time and I wouldn't be surprised if I take in around 4,000 calories daily. Of course I eat more than the regular person but I also have a very active lifestyle.
hey, i love your videos they are soooo helpful and reassuring, do you think you could do a video about exercise, how much to do to just stay healthy and keep fit without going over the top. i want to start excercising again because i feel so lazy i do absoloutley noting but everytime i try to exercise again it makes me feel guilty about food/ weight , if you can help that would be amazing xxx
I used to eat 1200 now i eat 1550 so i am gaining weight, I have been eating healthy and prioritizing protein and i get bloated haha . I just need my body to adgust
Hey, thanks for the video! I need some advice tho. I'm 16 years old, 174 cm tall weight about 65 kg. Since a couple of months i've lost 10 kg but now, (as you explained) it all of a sudden stopped. I wanna loose an additional 5 kg before summer, wich is in about 6 weeks. Does this mean I must up my cal intake for 3 weeks, before i can continue loosing weight? Thanks alot! :) Btw I'm a active swimmer, i swim for 6 out of 7 and each day i 1.5 h. high intensity swim about 3.5 km each session! Pls reply Thanks!
I’m scared, because when I first started losing weight, I simply lowered it to around 1200-1400 calories, but then I slowly started to lower it even more, as I got addicted to the number on the scale dropping. I now eat 600-800 calories a day, and I don’t know how to stop it. I’m scared of gaining weight and even though Im aware that the amount of calories I’m eating isn’t healthy, I physically can’t seem to stop. Whenever I try to snap out of the cycle, I start to feel really guilty, scared and panicked, so I go back to eating 600-800 calories. Anyone have any advice?
renjun is babie this summer, I was only eating a little yogourt a day because I was scared to gain weight . I lost 45 lbs doing that in 2 months, I was eating 40 calories a day never more than 100 and I hated myself if I ate more than that. recently i started eating meals every day and I gained like 5 lbs but I eat, and I don't worry about how many calories that I eat in a day. I do weigh myself after every meals but it's just too keep a balance and to know my limits, I suggest you to do that. I thought it was normal to eat 40 calories a day and now looking back I just think it's horrible. Don't do that to yourself and start eating a little bit more everyday you're not gonna gain weight as much as you think :) good luck
Sis u have to eat!!! Your body can go into starvation mode and u can end up in the hospital my advice slowly start to increase your calories don’t increase so much all at once
I eat around 1,200 calories (and comfortable everyday with that amount, I feel full and get all my nutrients and macros) and I exercise around 20 min a day and I can't lose weight. I'm pretty thin except in the belly area. I have also lost my period. I don't want to eat more because I don't want to gain weight. I guess I'm stuck
It could be not enough fat? Try adding 1/4 avacado a day, or a serving a nuts, or peanut butter, if your fat intake is low. Women should not be doing 10% of calories of fat or any lower. Check out nutritionfacts channel, or nutritionfacts(dot)org and search his weight loss videos, his videos on nuts and weight loss if you want to consider the increased fat. Here's Dr. Greger from NutritionFacts on lost periods /watch?v=k76poMr6z88 Don't know if you're vegan, but hope it helps.
Eating more may actually help, as long as you eat good foods. When you don’t supply your body with enough calories it will cling onto any fat you have. Don’t be afraid to eat more, if you’re afraid of gaining weight eat more fruits or vegetables, no one has ever gotten fat eating too much broccoli
You left out the part muscle burns fat. If that girl was doing alot of cardio 800 calories will make body will burn muscle not fat. You burn muscle then your bmr is even lower and you repeat the vicious cycle. Cardio is evil. Lose fat not weight
I’m a 12 year old male I’ve been on a diet for maybe a week or so I’ve been eating 1100-1400 calories a day and burning 300-450 calories is this healthy for my age and will it result in weight loss ?
+This Girl Audra now im eating reaaaally a lot and im ok with that , actually im happy but what to do after hitting healthy weight? Im a lil scared of eating my intake (1600 kcal) .
I eat 1500 not dieting im 5"4 124 pounds and im lightly active and i completely lost my period ? I had a eating disorder last year then got it back and i lost it again? Not sure why
Anybody man or woman eating 800 cals a day needs to stop what they are doing and educate themselves. Completely re evaluate their eating habits. Hell if you are eating 800 calories a day you shouldn't even be working out. That's not even enough to maintain your organs over time. If you don't change your lifestyle and continue with the fad diets and crash diets you will end up with your fingers down your throat bulemic or gain allllll the weight back. Educate yourselves. Even before starting to change your diet it going to the gym. Learn
when i look online to see how much calories i should be eating it always says 1500 to maintain but i dont like only eating that much i like to eat 1800-2000 this is ok right
I lost my period in March from over cardio and under fueling not realizing probably eating less then 1000 calories a day and working out 7 days a a week my lowest was 135 and now been eating about 1800-2000 and gained weight bust feel a lot better. Still workout no cardio just weight training 4-5 days a week. Should I take a week off to from training total ( I’m just worried because all of this I was at my highest ever 200lb which I had bad problem with my knees and was eating a lot of junk
I would like yo know What are your thoughts on intermittent fasting? Is that true is good? Some people told me I should eat around 11-12 and then until 4-5 my last meal
I also want to know what Audra thinks about intermittent fasting. I've done it involuntarily before and I lost inches off my waist and they've never come back.
I think if you're hungry at 9am but wait till 11-12 to eat then that's not good. Intermittent fasting is used for weight loss I don't know why maybe you eat less? but also it is, well I've heard, to give your digestive system a break and eating twice a day not over 12-14 hrs just grazing and body doesn't get a chance to detox and heal things in the body perhaps. But the best thing is to do something you can sustain for life. Eating when hungry till satisfied and full :)
You cannot gain weight on 800 calories a day LOL defying the law of physics much? You need to be eating 3500 calories OVER your BMR+daily exercise calories to gain a pound of fat. You eat at a deficit, you lose weight....especially if it's under your BMR which 800 is well under for any grown adult. That's why starvation exists and anorexics die LMAOOOOO girl do some basic research please. You cannot gain fucking fat eating 800 cals a day and doing cardio on top of that. Your metabolism will drop but it cannot outrun a deficit.
I know and work with plenty of people eating even less than 800 cals a day and gaining weight. It's a metabolic issue, it's not always cals in vs cals out ☺️
This Girl Audra Metabolic adaptation cannot outrun a deficit. If you are constantly saving money in the bank are you gonna get poorer or richer? If you constantly spending money are you gonna get richer? Beats me.
+bluefavorites you would think the bank analogy would fit, but it doesn't every single time when it comes to human biology. Why I'm currently working with 5 women who eat less than 1,000 cals a day and aren't losing weight (even with excessive cardio) might seem contradictive to the whole theory of cals in vs cals out, but it's reality. To fix it, it's a simple matter of increasing calories over time to increase one's metabolism. There's a lot of info and testimonies of "reverse dieting" (which I did myself) that explain what I'm talking about perfectly ❤️
This Girl Audra I'm willing to bet they're actually gaining because they're not in a consistent deficit, meaning they have days of binging that are well above "1,000 calories". In this case, their metabolism will have dropped and they will store a lot of the excess calories as fat. But if one is consistently eating under their BMR they will lose weight/starve which is why Holocaust survivors were not obese LOL. It's the LAW of thermodynamics, not theory, not postulate. It's as observable and in your face as gravity. You cannot be taking out and gaining simultaneously.
+bluefavorites you definitely could be right, they possibly could be binging, but even if they are, following your logic, the reverse of this would have to be true: they would have to intake 3500+ calories over their TDEE consistently to gain a substantial amount of weight. wouldn't, if even they were eating up to maintenance during these "binges", they would maintain their weight, not gain, based off the law of thermodynamics? i also know for myself that when i was eating super low calorie WITHOUT binges and doing tons of exercise, i also experienced this same thing (and it only resolved once i actually backed off the exercise and increased my calories = reverse dieting). while there is the law of thermodynamics, you also have to take into account issues of hormones, suboptimal thyroid function, extremely low BMR, and low levels of calories being burned (the body retaining as much energy/calories/fat as necessary to stay alive on such low calories). Having a suboptimal working thyroid (specifically with low T3), would explain the lower metabolic rate (since thyroid function is directly related to adaptive thermogenesis). Likewise, different foods affect our bodies differently and they also can be a determining factor in how good (or bad) our BMR works. Saying that cals in vs. cals out is the only way is too simple and naive of an answer and doesn’t consider the wide array of metabolic pathways that various foods travel thru and the how they effect our hormones, body, and brain. At the end of the day, if simply just lowering calories/increasing exercise was ALWAYS the answer to everyone's weight problem, then many more people would be thin, but that's obviously not the case.
You look like D.J from Fuller House
Sure does
I wish we can just like talk to our bodies be like “chill bruh it’s cool I’m wanting to lose some fat but don’t worry we’re not gonna starve the faster you help me lose this fat the faster we can get to maintaining it and I can eat more again. Soo I’d appreciate it if you’d help a brother and stop burning my muscle and just burn my fat? Okay? Okay thanks”

It’s been years lol but how did it go ?
If you take your body weight and multiply it by 12, that is (allegedly) the number of calories you need to maintain your weight. I weighed 355 pounds on May 30th. I was eating approximately 3,000 calories a day giving me a caloric deficit of 1,260 per day, or roughly 2.5 pounds per week weight reduction. I weighed again yesterday, July 31st. I am now 333 pounds. I just readjusted my caloric intake. I can now eat 2500 calories a day to maintain that weight loss. Losing weight slowly is allowing my skin to shrink along with my weight. 😅💕
Would love to hear how you are doing xx
Im went from 400-500/600-900 calories a day yesterday to 1,400 and I gained a little. It seems I gained a lot, but I’d say I gained about 3 pounds
Also, make sure you eat a high fiber diet and drink tons of plain water.
awesome vid Audra totally buying your book :)
+This Girl Audra the book is great!
did you buy her book?
Video topic idea: how to rest in yourself not always caring what other people think about your face, body and clothes etc. how to just really love yourself.
yes me too :)
I am at a deficit and i do IF and my blood pressure has NEVER been better! 100/55ish
OMG thxs so much. I finally know why I have been gaining weight.
You can also waste away, if you exercise too much and especially if you starve yourself.
Love your videos. Just listening to you talk is so much help, but I'm definitely going to invest in your book. I have my period, but I am definitely a exercise addict and just need to get back into a healthy mindset.
Sounds like me. I've last 2.5 Months on 1,200 Calories a day. I lost 20 Pounds. Recently I've plauted and found out that my BMR is 1,415. I'm shocked.
Elizabeth Carter I have a question? Why is BMR important? Should I just be eating at my BMR to lose weight? Confusion lol
@@peptobismol3949 thats what ive been questioning as well
Lose muscle and you slow down the metabolism. Our bodies don't count calories. The body stores dietary fat as a back up energy, uses carbs for immediate energy and uses protein to build muscle or rebuild tissue.
I dance around 17 or 18 hours a week. But as long as I'm happy that's all that matters to me :)
I'm there mostly but some days its hard. xxx
You need more than 800 just to breathe and lie down lol I'm 5ft and my BMR is 1150
K Bear ikr thats insane
K Bear your body will run on ketones. You can eat nothing for weeks and be fine.
@@lovelyxskinny you're a fucking idiot..

We'll fluctuate our caloric intake so that we continue to lose weight
You are right, iam gonna go eat a sandwhich, thanks suga.
I would love it if you could do a video about acne. I've been vegan for over a year and still get pretty bad acne.
What helped me was not putting too much products like creams, makeup or something else. I wash my face with a soup that a dermatologist sent me and nothing else. I used to put coconut oil too but not anymore, sometimes I breakout too but not too much like I used to
+Vanessa Gc yeah I tried that but am still getting acne :( I don't know why...
+Sam Brooke 😥 Oh! I hope Audra could help us. 🙏🏻 You are gonna get rid of it, you'll see😘
+Vanessa Gc I hope so, fingers crossed! ☺
Could be building muscle mass; which is more accurate if your eating less and exercising more.
She could also be not tracking her calories properly and over eating lol
Take a BREAK for a month, go back to the gym and focus on Hypertrophy training! Youll be surprised😊
@@paradyseperez5127 I might try that. Thanks😊 I'm scared of gaining weight during that time but I'm not getting anywhere doing what I'm doing now.
@@jahsoka8307 Just try listening to your body, and take time to understand what intuitive means. Be intuitive with both eating and training.
I'm gaining weight on 1,195 calories a day :(
Story of my life.
Me too :c
This is why you refeed
I am trapped in a total nightmare.
I was on 2,000 calories per day a few weeks ago. Then I got hit by gastroparesis and struggled to eat 1,600 per day. My body freaked out completely and started rapidly gaining fat.
For about a month,I have bern eating really stupidly, unable to get above 600 calories per day.
I am petrified of a massive rebound. I have severe gastroparesis (It's a vicious cycle, fuelled by not eating enough but you can't eat because of the discomfort)
It was a painstaking process getting to 2,000 calories, now I have blown it.
I think no matter what I do now,I will blow up like a barrage balloon.
I am so worried. The longer it goes on,the worse it's going to be.
Very informative! Thank you, Audra.
thxs for sharing Audra!
800 calories thats insane
Your videos are so helpful, thank you so much! Everything sounds locical and right but it's so so hard to go out of this circle.
I'm trying hard to increase my calories but at the same time I increase my wourkouts cardio and long walks :(
I eat below 2,000 and still gradually gained weight.
Hi Audra,
Does this mean that if i have metabolic damage and I add calories back in slowly and STOP ALL EXERCISE, it well begin to regulate again and I will slowly be able to eat more and not do exercise at all to maintain my weight while eating lots?
i wish i know! !! i hope someon will answer :) keep your fingers crossed
You need to add weight training and resistance training to your workout routine to build lean muscle mass
Hope you come back. You are so valuable and d love to have you as a coach.
I needed this!
I love you so much!!!!!! I don’t think I’ve ever been more grateful for a TH-cam video. Thank you so much may the lord bless you. I love you. ❤️
I've just started working out for like 40 min and eating 200 calories less... do you think that it's ok? I'm really short, so I eat 1500 calories now
Athena WTF of course it isn't okay.
Thanks for your advise!
a woman who is sendetary and short doesn't need that much calories in a day so this is a myth that everyone needs to eat 2000 calories a day
@@cheersdarlin1516 So right. For a women even who works out like I do 1500 calories are fine. If you eat good healthy foods and not garbage. Meaning foods with healthy fats and fiber which keeps you full. I calories and carb cycle. It helps to break through plateaus period.

ok ive been doing alot of reading and watching of video's about loosing weight its very simple and you make it seem like its that hardest thing to do, ok first get a calorie counter type in your weight , height and age, and your activity level , now it will give you a number for men something like 2100 calories to maintain weight as an unactive person and 1600 to loose 1 pound a week , and for woman like 1800 to maintain and 1200 to loose weight, now when you reach the point where your asking urself why am i not loosing any more weight the scales have stopped, its because you have to readjust the calculator, your weight has gone down and thus the amount of calories you need to eat per day has now changed, just try this and dont listen to everyone on the internet, work out what works for you
Dam this is the clearest shit I've ever heard someone say on this. Thank you .
What happens if you can't eat and gain weight? I feel so defeated. I have to lose the amount you lost.
How do anorexics become literally skin and bones if what you're saying is true? One cannot gain weight eating only 800 calories per day.
correct!
I gained 2 and a half pounds from it in 2 weeks
Ahhh someone else with the same question! I definitely don’t understand! I hope she addresses this
It's called starvation mode , your body knows it won't get much food or when it will get it .
That a person that does the same thing but don't restrict?
hi I ran a lot and now overweight
how do I bring up my calorie intake from 400-500 to the proper amount?
@@AceCorr it's called anorexia. K used to eat 100 calories at some point
What, so they absorbed the fat from the air then? Or were these magic 800 calories which defy the laws of physics? Calorie deficit=weight loss.
Wayne Byrne yes but your body can adjust to a calorie deficit
Wayne Byrne they're not the laws of physics they're the laws of biology fam
You really don't have any Science or Nutrition education do you?
Wayne Byrne the body is not a closed system.
What if you're into running? Can you just raise your calorie intake and not have any negative effects?

+Ívan Skelfilegi thanks I know it! But I only have 5lbs weight and have no access to the gym :( so I would like to know if there's anymore ways...
Carlicia workout out and don't decrease your cals, although the type of your metabolic system pretty much relies on your genetics.
Would u recommend backing off weight training?
800 calories?...
Nina Perry losing your period is a sure sign you're not eating enough...im pretty sure it's probably just you thinking you need to lose more
Literally me right now. It's scary to up the calories.
Here's Dr. Greger from NutritionFacts on lost periods /watch?v=k76poMr6z88
Don't know if you're vegan, but hope it helps.
Sounds like an eating disorder I've been there. Losing the period is a sign that you don't eat much do you have depressions and anixty?
Eating more may actually help, as long as you eat good foods. When you don’t supply your body with enough calories it will cling onto any fat you have. Don’t be afraid to eat more, if you’re afraid of gaining weight eat more fruits or vegetables, no one has ever gotten fat eating too much broccoli
You left out the part muscle burns fat. If that girl was doing alot of cardio 800 calories will make body will burn muscle not fat. You burn muscle then your bmr is even lower and you repeat the vicious cycle. Cardio is evil. Lose fat not weight

Learn

I would like yo know What are your thoughts on intermittent fasting? Is that true is good? Some people told me I should eat around 11-12 and then until 4-5 my last meal
+Vanessa Gc I've tried intermittent fasting and I don't notice a difference either way
+Hannah H Thank You. 😀
I also want to know what Audra thinks about intermittent fasting. I've done it involuntarily before and I lost inches off my waist and they've never come back.
+Jenny D but do you still intermittent fast? Or when u went back to eating normal eating it didnt come back ?
I think if you're hungry at 9am but wait till 11-12 to eat then that's not good. Intermittent fasting is used for weight loss I don't know why maybe you eat less? but also it is, well I've heard, to give your digestive system a break and eating twice a day not over 12-14 hrs just grazing and body doesn't get a chance to detox and heal things in the body perhaps. But the best thing is to do something you can sustain for life. Eating when hungry till satisfied and full :)
Jesus Christ... 800 calories a day?! I really struggle keeping below 3000 calories per day!

Genetics, your body naturally wants to be fat. If you cut calories the body will slow metabolism. Again it wants to be fat.
Thank you

You're cute
