0:08-0:14 This is my FAVORITE part of The Olympic Spirit Song! It really gets my adrenaline going! Just so that you all know: I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics, Blazers, Mariners and Seahawks fan. Japanese-American (showing HOW I grew up).
Clevelander here. The Sonics back in the 70s were exciting team with Slick Watts, Jamal “Silk” Wilkes, and Downtown Freddy Brown. Shame you lost a good franchise that won a championship for your city.
Great tune but lets be honest, the olympic Games created by Greece, destroyed by America, used to be my favourite sporting event, even more than the world cup, athletics world championships or Biathlon world championships , but now thanks to the yanks or is that spelt with a w ( wan** ) it has turned a joke .
The Olympics today are: 1) Too big; 2) All about money; 3) Too many sports; 4) Too political; and 5) Too much of a show. Los Angeles 1984 saved the Games (turning a profit) but led to heavy commercialization. And the way the Games have been presented in the USA focus heavily on Americans. Athletes from other countries rarely seem to matter. The recent fuss about the Caitlin Clark "snub" rubbed me the wrong way. Many Americans said they will not watch the USA women's basketball team because she was not selected. I am a big Clark fan, but the Olympics are bigger than one athlete or one country. In fact, it's fun to watch athletes/teams from small countries take down those from larger ones. Even if my country - USA - is the loser! But I also rejoice & take pride when we win as an underdog (like the 1980 hockey team). The Games should be about peace, friendship, doing one's best & the pursuit of excellence. Following those stories keeps what little is left of the true "Olympic Spirit" alive.
John Williams is a legend that will never fade. No one does it better.
Love it! ABC doesn't release the rights to the original Olympic fanfare so John Williams says, "hold my beer!" and writes and even better piece!
The horns is SINGING in the background throughout. Lovely!
this theme for the 1988 Seoul Olympics is without that the greatest Olympic fee ever written
This is the best live version I have heard!
This is awesome! John Williams will always be one of the greatest composers ever!
Thank you so much for posting this!
Love, love, love John Williams' music!
Your welcome. John is now in his 90's & still going strong. Hopefully we still have him for many years to come.
Bring back so many fond memories during my days in the military band.....
Thx so much for uploading such previous footage! ❤😊
I have been searching for a video for a very long time. Thank you.
Who's ready for Paris 2024??!! The Olympics are coming in just a few days!! This is John Williams' best Olympic theme around!!
Paris opening ceremony was a degenerate disgrace . French elites don't think much of the audience .
It already over! I'm Ready for Milano Cortina 2026 and LA 2028!!!
I really enjoy this .
A seriously catchy melody.
Medals are nice, but it is the spirit that embodies that which we call the Olympic Games!

Glorious!
Orginally written for NBC TV coverage of the 1988 games since they didnt have rights at the time to the Buglers Fanfare that ABC used for years..
Love it! ABC doesn't release the rights so John Williams says, "hold my beer!"
Nelle prossime olimpiadi serve questa melodia perché ci serve... è universale
한국인으로서 서울올림픽을 기억할수있는 좋은 팡파레곡을 만들어주신 윌리엄스 형님께 깊은 감사를드립니다. 항상 건강하시기를...
この曲大好きぃ〜😭🥹🫶
Yeah! Good job my John Williams. I like you, John. This is make James Horner proud.
Most versions I've heard of this seem rushed. It's good to see the composer taking a more relaxed tempo
this sounds like the one they used for the bumpers during the 88 olympics coverage
この曲はコロナで苦しんだ京都橘吹奏楽部117期のテーマソングとして自分自身の記憶として残しています。
動画や音源どこかにあがってますか?
京都橘さんの演奏聴きたいです!
