      Haha not so nice when you have to drive on it every day. I haven't lived there in 10 years, but lived there for 30. I remember Main Street before they put the brick down, the old cobblestone that had probably been there since the city's founding... that was a bumpy ride.

      @@NaptownClassic the point is that you shouldn't have to drive, especially in a city like this.

      @@Wasev I lived there for 30 years. You have to drive now and then over the course of three decades.
      My point was about what it is like to drive in such a city. I'm not sure why we can only have "the point" as opposed to "many points of view" on a topic these days.

    I didn’t realize Annapolis was so beautiful. It’s great that they didn’t pace over the cobblestone/brick streets. So many cities paved over theirs.

    • @NaptownClassic
      @NaptownClassic 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They have to repair them all the time at great cost. Look in the middle of the road on Main Street. I remember before they laid the brick down, used to be an older cobblestone street. The brick is way better, but the fact that the brick has to be fixed so often tells me something wasn't done right.

    Nice. Would love to visit there some day. I'm making it a goal of mine to visit all the major European colonial cities of the US. So far, I have been to:
    1. New York, New York (2004) (Yes, there are some Dutch colonial architecture in New York)
    2. Washington D.C. (2006)
    3. Boston, Massachusetts (2007)
    4. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2008)
    5. Newport, Rhode Island (2013)

    7. St. Augustine, Florida (2018) (More Spanish Colonial)
    8. Savannah, Georgia (2018)
    9. Charleston, South Carolina (2018)
    Are still on my bucket list:
    10. Annapolis, Maryland
    11. Baltimore, Maryland
    12. New Castle, Delaware
    13. New Haven, Connecticut
    14. Salem, Massachusetts
    15. Portsmouth, New Hampshire
    16. Portland, Maine
    17. Williamsburg, Virginia
    18. Alexandria, Virginia
    19. Montgomery, Alabama
    20. New Orleans, Louisiana (More French Colonial)

      Walks and such which is moronic. How are you comparing “walkability” between a country and continent, and how are you claiming that most American cities aren’t walkable of are “designed around cars”? That’s a stupid, useless deliberation. You can drive in cities around the globe, that doesn’t mean they’re “designed around cars”. Get a goddamn grip.

    • @decrox13
      @decrox13 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Walks and such like, that means the logic is “if it’s walkable, it’s European, if it’s not, it’s American”. What? The vast majority of American cities are “walkable”. The only regions that are declaratively “unwalkable” are suburban residential areas.

    Many of the parents in Annapolis ignore traffic laws with their kids. Many of these parents are civil servants. The youth of Maryland deserve law-abiding, ethical and conscientious civil servants. Their future depends upon it. What do you think? Should traffic fines be doubled in capital cities? Imagine law-abiding civil servants in Annapolis! Imagine!!!

      Martin Kent Our lawmakers here in Maryland are great! I know several of them since I am a self advocate in the state wide self advocacy group for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I am a young person who gives back to the community.
