R32 Skyline: DIY Paint Job at Home in Our Garage!

- We painted the R32 Skyline GTSt at home in our garage and it turned out GREAT! (For a drift car, that is..). We painted the new bumper, fenders, rear over-fenders, side skirts, rear bumper, and Big Country Labs wing along with the Ganador mirrors. The roof, mirrors, and wing were painted a 'cosmic' metallic black (black with multi-colored flake), and the rest of the car is a very flakey 'warm' grey.
As with most things we do on this channel, we don't really know what we're doing, so it'll be easy to point out mistakes and flaws. We expect some criticism and hate for our mistakes and lack of skill, but from a few feet away it looks really good, and corner in drift, it looks AMAZING!
This footage is actually pretty old. We did this project back in the mid July, so it's already be a few months and a half-dozen drift days. SO far, so good! If you're thinking about doing your own DIY or 'at home' paint job I encourage you to give it a shot...especially if you keep your expectations in check. We know this car would be getting bumps and bruises at the track, so frankly it'd be dumb to make the car perfect. We learned a lot in the process about the chemicals, the prep, the equipment, the techniques...all of it.
Even though it was a ton of work, I'd do it again. Actually, we're planning on it already! For starters the kit has already taken some hits, so we plan to use some of the leftover paint to do a refresh in the same color very soon. We'll also be finishing the paint for the e30 soon (yes, we still have it) and I'm already planning the next paint job for the Skyline next year. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
ooh I like this, this isn't the light blue job? Damn make the skyline great again! This looked awesome.
Thanks man! Yeahh it was brown before it was blue. It looked nice in pictures but boy did the rear over fenders piss me off. They fit SO BAD
wow. First. Im amazed.
Looking Good Jonas! Probably could use bit more wetsand and polish to get the paint even smoother.
Thank you! We did wet sand polish a few days later it and it helped a lot. After six drift days we're already talking about the next coat of paint. We're learning...
It needs a bit more than polish right now! Keep your eyes out for more on that soon.
I know it's 2020, but do you remember what brand rear over fenders you used and how the fitment of them was?
