- In this video we take a close look on a BMW E39 520i sedan. The car was made in Dingolfing, Germany in 2002. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds during acceleration. Several important and interesting information about the e39 specifications will be given in this video, such as Double paned windows, M54 engine, Storage capacity, Brakes, Buttons and so on.

I am beyond impressed with this car. I wish more BMWs could see care like this 520i and my 2000 M5 have received. This is absolutely mint and a diamond in the rough of today's existing E39s. It's also wonderful to see an E39 optioned so well. M Sport, 66 wheels, PDC, sunshade, heated seats, etc. Let alone the fact that this car looks show-room fresh.

I'm regular driver never driving aggressive. My fuel consumption is:
summer:
Highway at 100kmh - 7,6l
City high traffic (Warsaw) - 9.8l
Winter
Highway at 100kmh - 7,9l
City high traffic - 12.3l
If you are aggressive behind the wheel this numbers going up easily (2-3l)
Car is amazing imo. He likes gasoline but other things are just... freude am fahren :)

I had one of these cars 520i 2,2 2001 and i can only confirm those numbers. I mean you can make it drink tha double of these, but you ARE able to gain such low numbers with AC on and still not holding up traffic, just give a bit more attention to economic driving...
It will allways be like that with and old naturally aspirated six-sylinder engine, hehe. You could perhaps check up on the diesel-version?
It won't sound as nice but the ride and comfort will be the same? If they are in good condition they still ride so well. I remember the first time I rode one, it was hard to believe the car was 15 years old then. It had better comfort than most of the newer cars I've driven.

@@limited3502 Yes.. you can buy one for even 500 Euro in running condition, but it's nowhere near as nice as this one. One like this is around 4-5k Euro (with the steering wheel in the correct position like the one in the video)

I had an E39 528i, which was 'only' 193 bhp compared to this 520i's 170bhp, so not so far ahead.
I'd love a 530i E39 to compliment the rest of my fleet.
but 206 lb/ft compared to 155...

Great video, I have an e39 530i in similar condition to this vehicle, my engine runs quietly. Like a sowing machine...and has 137,000 miles on the odometer, I've had my car for nearly 3 years...absolutely love it. .

Amazing looking car! I own a 2003 520i M Sport in Titanium Silver which is also in awesome condition. It has 235/17 wheels front and 255/17 rear as standard. Great video and enjoy your car!

What about 8 series? bmw had 3,5,7 and 8 series at the time
9,5 l 100 km fuel consumption? Only if you rolling down from the hill and with the wind blowing from your back! Realistic consumption is about 15 l 100 km
There is absolutely no way you can achieve these numbers of fuel consumption. For my 2003 car with the same engine but touring version it is 6.7 highway (hardly touching the gas pedal), 12.5/14(summer/winter) city/town, about 10 combined. Which does not change the fact that it is a great car, though. Your video is very good, too. Maybe just a bit too optimistic:)
clearly the first owner was very particular about his option.... nope to power seat. but I must have electric rear sunshade.

I have an e39 I´m trying to fix, but it´s automatic. I don´t know how to fix things myself so everything time consuming and advanced has to be done by someone else, but the car still drives well. It has some corrodation-problems but that will be fixed during the summer.
I really hate how it´s automatic.. If it was manuel it would be a great first car and maybe one I´d never let go.

thats wrong, as this was a 02 model year they had the E46, E39, E38, Z3 and the X5 was new to showrooms... I love the videos you do reviewing models over than the top of the range its good keep it up... 👍

He has swapped the M-sport seats to standard ones to spare their condition. Interesting habit.

The development for the BMW E65 7 Series began in early 1996, and production specifications were frozen in January 1999. The design of the BMW E65 7 Series was patented 16 November 2000. The development ended in mid-2001. The car was first launched in Europe 17 November 2001 and then appeared in US and other markets in the spring of 2002.
