Why the BAOFENG UV-5R is the #1 prep radio on the market. No BS

  • BEOFENG UV 5R is not compliant why my question to AI
    The Baofeng UV-5R radio has been the subject of non-compliance issues due to its ability to transmit on unauthorized frequencies and with excessive power levels, which violates regulations set by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States and similar regulatory agencies in other countries. Specifically, the UV-5R has been found to be non-compliant with FCC regulations regarding the use of radios on certain frequencies, including those reserved for public safety and emergency services. Additionally, the UV-5R has been known to emit excessive harmonic radiation, which can interfere with other radio services and devices. These issues have resulted in the FCC issuing warnings and fines to users and sellers of the Baofeng UV-5R radio.
    no fines have been issued why would you assume that?
    I apologize for any confusion in my previous response. While the FCC has not issued any specific fines related to the Baofeng UV-5R radio, there have been reports of individuals and organizations receiving warnings and fines for operating the UV-5R in violation of FCC regulations. In 2018, for example, the FCC issued a citation to a man in California for using a Baofeng radio to communicate with hikers in a state park, which was deemed to be in violation of FCC rules. In general, the use of radios that do not comply with FCC regulations can result in interference with other radio services, which is why the FCC takes non-compliance issues seriously.
    I think the issue in the state park is more fiction than fact or do you have a police report
    You are correct that I made an error in my previous response. While there have been reports of non-compliance issues with the Baofeng UV-5R radio, I do not have any evidence to support the specific example I gave of a man in California receiving an FCC citation for using the radio to communicate with hikers in a state park. Therefore, I apologize for any confusion or misinformation I may have caused. It is important to always verify information before presenting it as fact.
    AI is fact, it seems you use grammar that sounds as fact but could be just internet folk lore
    I apologize if any of my previous responses sounded like they were presenting information as fact when they were not adequately supported. As an AI language model, I strive to provide accurate and informative answers to the best of my ability based on the information available to me. However, I understand that there can be errors and inaccuracies in the information available on the internet. Therefore, I encourage users to verify information from multiple sources and exercise critical thinking when evaluating information they find online. To clarify, if broadcasting on a GMRS frequency, you need a GMRS license, not a ham radio license.
    Family Radio Service (FRS) walkie-talkies don't require an FCC license and those radios use 22 channels in the 462-467 MHz range of the ultra high frequency (UHF) band. Each channel has a bandwidth of 12.5 kHz, but the power of each channel can vary. The frequencies are:
    462.5625 MHz, 462.5875 MHz, 462.60000 MHz, 462.62500 MHz, 462.65000 MHz, 462.67500 MHz, 462.70000 MHz, and 462.72500 MHz
    You only need a HAM Operator's license to transmit on the ham radio frequencies.

    Fun fact, you don't actually have to have a ham radio license to operate it. 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @Baasicstuff
      @Baasicstuff  ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Please Explain, the unit comes with only HAM bands on it, making it not authorized to transmit on by a non licensed person. Once unlocked, well you still need this license, and it's illegal to use on GMRS, and FRS. So what am I missing? Are you saying we should just say screw the FCC and break the law? Say that then 🙄 or maybe you consider listing "using", it a transmitter, not a scanner. It you have the exact frequencies so I can use them that would be better. For now I only have a GMRS license

      @RubberDuckyPhukFace ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@BaasicstuffI'm not saying I know more about this than you because I obviously don't. What I am saying is that I don't actually broadcast. I don't broadcast on any am or FM frequencies. And even if I did you can only broadcast up to 200 feet without an FCC license on am or FM frequencies which is pointless. I use it strictly for my job. Also there are multiple people on the job site that use them as well. Not all employees use the same model as mine but I'm sure you get what I'm saying. I'm saying that as long as I'm transmitting on the same frequency that the walkies the business I work for are pre set to, I don't have to have a license for that. For example, most Walmart walkies that managers and other staff use are not programmable yet if you tune to 154.570 that is the frequency those radios transmit on because they are factory pre set to that frequency therefore as long as I'm tuned to that exact frequency I'm not breaking any laws transmitting on a frequency that is pre-set to the non programmable radios in a controlled environment.

      @Baasicstuff  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@RubberDuckyPhukFace I cant make a video on how to break the law. You personally can do as you wish, but there is no such authorization allowing your company to break the law. GMRS should not be used for a company, or business, unless grandfathered in and was licensed prior to the rule change. The FCC is not worried about a 4x4 club, some hikers, or kids having fun. So do you transmit on the Police bands? Cause you can.....you chicken? We all have our limit, I'm just not dumb enough to put in on TH-cam. But why not be legal? $35 for a 10 year GMRS license? Unfortunately, it's a very low quality radio. They break, get overloaded easily, and transmit all across the band no matter what frequency you're using. Test it with a walkie talkie and see how many channels it's transmitting on every time you key up. It has no ingress protection so even sweat or light rain could damage or destroy it. If you're in an emergency then you don't want to rely on the cheapest radio you can find. It's cheap because it's junk. You can get a yaesu ft65 that does everything the uv5r does and is a much higher quality radio. You'll spend more money on baofengs that break and all the dorky accessories for them than a decent radio like the yaesu.

      Any repeater that's worth anything will use call signs. Sounds like you have some nice Walkie Talkies, I suggest getting a licence and getting connected on some good repeaters; I have 2 that cover over 150 miles. We don't need LAWS to follow common sense but if you wish to use the FCCs Channels you will need a licence. In most cases no call sign, no answer or they do answer, you then meet a cool local dude and so he can contact you, or ID you in the future, asks your call sign then you so silent?

    • @Baasicstuff
      @Baasicstuff  20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Do you have GMRS repeaters near you? YES....ok get a GMRS license, this will give you access to a repeater. NO, get a HAM or all you have is 4 powerful walkie talkies that talk radio to radio, which is Gay. Then play on it for a day and you will understand more than I can explain here. You need a call sign to work the radio, as anyone cool will want to know it, and anyone Sad HAM will want to also. Also no call sign and no one on value will answer, why would we? who are you? why do I wish to talk to someone that if I do ask their call sign they will just go silent like a weirdo or they will explain they just got the radio and then the conversation becomes like teacher and student. In life those that bend the rules, break the rules NEVER end up where they wish, also most people are not smart enough to break rules and profit from it long term.
      people call it a HAM cause unlocked you get access to a few bands, BUT you can find a good repeater on GMRS. My repeaters are part of a group, it $30 a year and we have get togethers and help the community also. Before Cell phones and cal boxes they had CREST COMMUNICATIONS, thas my group, bad ass right, we have t shirts, ID cards, were legit, every Monday we do check in; my LIV video show some of these check ins. Match the frequencies and dont unlock it; good for line of sight and a few houses/valleys in the mountains I have found. No licence as long as you are not being a pest or connecting to repeaters I would say. Connecting to a repeater then everyone for 150 miles can hear you, also no call sign you won't get an answer most likely. OR when you finally have a cool conversation it ends all weird cause you have to say you have no call sign when they ask. Your call sign is your name anyone cool would ask so next time they know who you are when they get on.

    Jailbreak a uv-5r? Please explain

    • @Baasicstuff
      @Baasicstuff  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unlock it so you have access to all bands HAM, GMRS, EMS, Weather, MURS. This radio can do what in most cases takes 4 different radios to do thats why it popular, not because its the best, or the cleanest. FOr $25
