- Ducks are usually easy to identify, but the females can be more challenging. Many of our familiar dabbling ducks have subtly-plumaged brown females which, on first glance, appear similar. This workshop will help you tell them apart with confidence.

Besides Mallards, Northern Shovelers and other dabbling ducks, geese, including Canada Goose, and Swans are also dabbling waterfowls.

Actually the speculum is the stripe next to the secondaries (the metallic patch etc) and providing such little species will misinform folks. Please put more detail. As a hunter I can identify these species tip to 40 meters in the air so do not even start me. #american all the way
Males are ostentatious. Females are not ostentatious.
