All these close games that NSW came short in. The quality of that QLD always shone through in the end

Slater's footy IQ at it's best here, the way he positions himself to run inside Lockyer is just world class. He's the greatest full back of all time.
Locky apparently told Slater to get on the inside of him
In an interview either after the game or the day after Lockyer mentioned that just before that play started, he said to Slater "stay on my insider right shoulder".
So Lockyer knew what he was going to do well before it even happened.
He was more the genius here and had a class finisher available to him.
Matt Scott was a beast. That run prior to the try was awesome. We talk about the spine coming up with big plays but the big runs by the forwards setting up was just as classy.
I love how JT goes straight to Locky to celebrate 💪🏾

It annoys me that the only games on streaming services are from 2018 and up. Basically when the dynasty players departed. These matches were fantastic. The skill. They were close games generally, too. Not often thrashings. Queensland just always had that extra gear that got them home in the end.
imagine that short fistacuff at the end in todays game. the players would be suspended for 4-6 weeks. the game has been become touch footy

So refreshing to look back on a great referee Archer his surname was, can't remember his Christian name maybe Matt.
Tony Archer I believe. He handled every situation he was put in better then any ref could these days
Did well to make sure he got the maroons over the line and always gain momentum for Qld when they were on the backfoot
