    My all time favourite harmonic tremolo is the Steymon Flint. I’ve owned the Monk and numerous others since falling in love with harmonic tremolo, but nothing for me beats the Flint. There’s a magic there.

    In comparison to the Jam Pedal trem you well demonstrated why I choose the Universal Audio Flow and replaced my analog chorus pedal with the Universal Audio Brigade Chorus pedal as well: because they are digital pedals there are dead quiet in the signal chain (notice the noise when the Jam pedals trem is engaged). As I use chorus and trem in the FX loop of my Fuchs Fullhouse 50 combo the Universal Flow and Universal Audio Brigade were are real gamechanger in terms of a quiet setup and they really sound analog in a pleasant way and are easy to use. I highly recommend these pedals and thanks to Mick for the great demo 😊

    I knew the Monk was amazing, but my word that Flow is right up there with it. Fabulous sounds from both. The Daddy is the Deluxe Reveb cranked, though, with the 345 bridge pickup 😘👌

    I'm sure the experience is different in the room but the pedals hold their own against the amp trem nicely. Anyone would be well served by either the JAM or UA. Love this series of videos too.

    I love the 345! Mainly the sound but I like the look too.

  • @uwedasler425
    @uwedasler425 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    I was listening with good headphones and a proper RME interface, and while I can't say how it sounded in the room, the Flow does scream 'I am digital'. Kills the higher guitar transients and degrades the signal, quite a bit actually. I did a rough compare to my old Source Audio Vertigo, and the SA pedal wins by miles. Also compared to the effects in the Helix/HX Stomp/Effects/One etc. - Line 6 is clearly better. Having said that, there are ample analog pedals which smoke that thing, the Fulltone Supa Trem 2, the Supro trem, and most importantly, the Flower Pedals Sunflower. Unsurprisingly, the JAM pedal wins the harmonic trem discipline.

    I love my Harmonious Monk Mk2 for the normal trem, always find myself going to the RetroVibe over the harmonic trem as it suits what I like just slightly more. The Monk would be the one on my board if there was only one spot free though!

    • @CorbCorbin
      @CorbCorbin 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just don’t like the Boss tremolo. I’m partial to Harnonic, but when compared to even the Bias or other Trems, the Boss is just lacking.
      There are a dozen I’d get instead, that range from cheaper to twice the price.
      I wish I could settle for the Boss, as they are easily found for $30-50 at used shops. $50-60 online.

  • @BobMaulucci

    Love harmonic tremolo, but I have the EQD Night Wire. The Harmonious Monk sounds amazing. UA is nice, too!

    • @CorbCorbin
      @CorbCorbin 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I got one of those, after I’d been on the fence for years. Finally found a 25% off sale, and got one. It’s not a good Harmonic Trem tone. So, it’s not replacing the Subdecay Vagabond I already had, but I got it for the other things it does.
      I’ve been getting some unique modulation tones, or some unique envelope filter tones too.
      When mixed right with delay and reverb, it really does some cool stuff, but it’s not something one wants to get for a straight tremolo.
      The filtering is just always above every other sound, so it’s not as great a Harmonic Trem sound as these, but it’s meant to be a bit weirder.

    • @BobMaulucci
      @BobMaulucci 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CorbCorbin I agree with your assessment. I do like the weirdness of it, and I do tend to use my Quad Cortex effects or even my UniVibe for more traditional modulation sounds.

    Tremolo ahhh, i once bought a boss TR2 and in my frustration i literally threw it out the window into a dumpster that had been there that week. Then over the course of a few momths i went hunting for the right tremolo pedal. I tested everything you could think of but in the end i took a Joyo modified tremolo, i need to add tap tempo to it and it'll be perfect. The runner up was the Fulltone Supa Trem. But surprisingly the modded joyo beat everything

    • @PrettyStoned-rk8ny
      @PrettyStoned-rk8ny 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It changes the ratio of all the frequencies, at open e, it’s a little bit higher than e flat tuning, the notes don’t translate, you’d have to retune to play with regular tuning. We play and record in 432, I prefer it, sounds heavier, and puts us more in tune with natural frequencies and harmonics. Check out Los Surfvivers here on TH-cam. Cheers

      @@ThatPedalShow I hear you. Hence why so many take it out I’m guessing. Tone suck.
      I’m surprised the amp didn’t catch on back in the day. That Varitone channel on Channel 2 I believe could be played activated or deactivated. The channel comprising of a volume and tone, then the Varitone circuit. Push the buttons to activate the various options like the guitar selector switch or I believe button “1” took it out the circuit bypassing it completely I would have thought.
      Always thought it was a clever design. Especially as the player wasn’t restricted to a ES guitar should they want to plug in a Les Paul etc. A les Paul with Varitone options would be interesting..

    For me those digital single pedals like the ones from UA are the worst of both worlds (analog and digital multi fx).
    They don't have presets and can't be controlled via MIDI. If you stack multiple digital effects you will stack multiple AD/DA converters and add latency each time. You have to power each one with your expensive isolated power supply. They usually draw more current.

      We think they're aimed at people who don't want lots of effects, where a fully featured multi-FX is too much. So for example you have a couple of drives, and your favourite echo and you want one other thing. Simple, small, sounds good. In that instance they're infinitely better than a complex multi effects device.

      It makes sense for someone who test/presents to have something people can reference, so in this context. It’s fine.
