Don't agree with the story, children are people, adults when they behave and act with prejudice should be held accountable for their actions. They should be held to higher standard when serving the public, made to formally apologise for miss conduct and held responsible. As a parent you should always stand for the rights of your children no matter what, you are to protect them at all time, what does that say of you as a parent, beaware what you are teaching them and what others see.
