Thank you for these beautiful stories and beautiful pictures. I'm a fan and look forward to the other stories and more to come.
This is beautiful! Definitely want more!❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing this! The story is wonderful, and the artwork is so beautiful and really brings this to life.
This is amazing, the artwork, music and everything. Job very well done. This reminds me of the very first book I read that had characters that look like me.
It’s a shame she was so excited to finally be “beautiful” that she not only treated Arinze terribly, as her village bachelors had treated her, but she also forgot about her desire to marry for love, and about her own inner beauty. It reminds me that when people who’ve been constantly knocked down finally get the type of power denied them, they often become the very thing that knocked them down and hurt them so much.
Edit: I feel like people think I’m excusing her behavior or her views, when I’m just sharing my own interpretation. Perhaps they should look inward and stop projecting on a fictional character…?
BS she never wanted love she just told herself that because she had no options. What she truly wanted was to have the same thing the people around her have and if possible for it to be better than theirs. That’s why the Bible says thou shalt not covet.
Very true! And I love how much of a human story it is very relatable and a good lesson for children and adults alike . I appreciate that she did not get a happy ever after but the actually life she has reaped
Hmmmm. Sounds very much like Israel.
True lol @@laurischoolmarm
Delightful story about the virtue of humility. Thank You. I felt like the excitement of a child listening intently.🎉❤🎉
This is not only a cautionary story about love but also about friendship. There are people who immediately forget their old friends because their lives took a turn for the better and when life brings them down to the ground, they look for their old friends again.
True
Very true. It’s a tough lesson, but hopefully it is an opportunity to growth.
So true! This is such an important lesson.
Oh yes!
So true! You said it! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Even as a 42yo woman I still love listening to fables, myths, and all sorts of storytelling. It was a great stroke of luck that you popped up onto my feed. I am hearing stories from Africa for the first time and loving it.
Yes! I'm 68 and layingbhere smiling!
45 years and glad I crossed plaths with this story. ❤
I'm 36 & still love listening to fables, fairytales, folktales & myths too! This story was so incredible! I look forward to hearing more beautiful African folktales on this channel in the future ❤
They are meant to teach us I live by the antidotes I gained from my grandmother stories and I wish the blessing that the protagonist gets follows me.
Wasn't it wonderful
The AI really understood the assignment.
This is what loneliness and insecurity can do to somebody. By the time they get a chance to be the person they wanted to be they disregard anything that reminds them of how they used to feel. She really lost a good man because he truly loved her for who she was even when she was at her lowest. All the other men only liked her for her looks and status. If she were to marry them they would not truly love her
So true🤗
Exactly.
Beautifully narrated and absolutely stunning ilustrations❤ this should be a children's book with the same artwork.
It looks like AI
I so agree. I was about to say the same thing.
So. That assessment makes you two feel better? Just listen to the story.

They need to hire you to make a good African Disney movie! African tales by Africans I ❤ it.
I agree completely! It would be awesome to see a Disney movie set in Africa, with an African princess! They definitely need to hire you as a writer!! ❤️❤️❤️
No. I think she should remain independent. Disney are too corrupt.
These are made by white people with AI created images (Artificial Intelligence). In African culture, the fatter the better, it indicates high status. What African you know want a skinny woman. What Black woman is going to create a video trashing a heavy woman? Come on now... think.
@@claramajor470facts we should support her content she doesn’t need Disney she needs her people!
Yup 👍👍👍
I’m new to this channel. I liked this story/fable; there are many layers.
1.) If you can’t recognize your own beauty, no amount of love or praise from people will change that.
2.) Unexpected events can interrupt our lives at inconvenient times to challenge our character. It is our responsibility to recognize this as a test and ensure we pass.
3.) True beauty is how we treat the ones who really care for us.
I think I’ll stick around this channel. I like the vibe. 😊
The first African story I heard, and I totally enjoyed it! Too bad she became so proud of her beauty as to lose a good man and prince!
That’s why her name is Ego 😉
yh I think now that the fat activists cant cancel it anymore they suddenly arise.
@@ResinEssenceByCherinice catch 😮
@@ResinEssenceByCheri I had wondered this but thought it might mean something else in an African native language.
Ego means money in Igbo (the language of the creator).
Yes! I love this! This story has the plotline of an African story! African stories were not fairy tales but had a purpose, to teach, to guide, to rebuke, to correct...
All fairy tales have this function
That's literally the foundation behind all fairytales, including western ones.
@@Sakisasvictorianmask the ones I know of don't have this but are of mystical magical worlds or magical beings which is different from African tales which are usually of normal people with normal stories and the ending is not made to be happy to satisfy, like for this case here she suffered the terrible consequences of her actions and the prince didn't 'forgive ' her for her behavior. She suffered those consequences just like in real life
@@Waridi23 which tales do you know then? Because all the classics (by Grimm, Andersen etc) definitely do have a moral-based subtext.
@@Sakisasvictorianmask for example Cinderella, snow white, sleeping beauty, Rapunzel, beauty and the beast, Hansen and Gretchen, they all have a common theme....

My heart breaks for Ego and for Narinze.
I was meant to leave the house five minutes ago but got so engrossed in the tale that I forgot myself.
Just beautiful- what a treat to find this today. Thank-you.
I loved this tale, the ending hit different for me. I met a great guy 8 years ago who absolutely loved and adored me. He was everything most women wanted in a man but as time passed i realized that I was not developing true love for him. I looked at his short comings all the time and never the best parts of him, so I eventually broke up with him because I felt he deserved someone to truly love him. After all he was a great guy. 2 years after we hung out and so much had happened in both our lives, and he shared how he had intended on marrying me. At that time I was in love with someone who was all wrong for me, and all I thought was awww how sweet. Here I am 7 years later 39 years old and single and I think back to that time and this story reminds me of the great love that I let slip away. I hope he is well and truly loved these days ❤
Sorry to hear
@eunoiaToya I’m in same situation but I have realised it soon nd I’m working nd learning to be more good for him

I’ve never heard of being fat being a problem pre 1900. Fat has been a symbol of wealth and fertility.
Arinze didn’t deserve that treatment! Thank You for this Story! God Bless You!🙏
I just love the speaking voice of the narrator! Thank you so much for sharing this story!
Very good story. The moral of this story is not to listen to "the ego" because it will rob you of happiness.
Haha. I see what you did there. Thank you for your input ❤
I love that this story does not have a fairytale ending. It is much like real life. There are consequences for one’s actions. In life, there are seldom any do-overs. Opportunity knocks but once.
You got that right.
I love this story! I might add that you never know someone's true character until you see them at their worst. That fat hid a poisoned heart, a heart that was revealed when the wrapping was crafted of gold. I'm glad this story did not end with a foolish man taking a woman who was unworthy of him.
Beautiful story.
Actually, I think it revealed a fragile heart, conditioned by a society of conforming expectations of being slim that clouded a person who at that time never experienced such attention due to being the desired status quo.
Attention that her sisters would have been guided through/with rather than this princess who wasn't accepted for being her regardless of shape.
Therefore, she was expected to act like a princess, so she forgot her inner truth.
🎉
He was foolish for not forgiving her and slowly giving her an opportunity as this would have healed this fragility whilst still learning an important lesson, for he also missed out on real love yet bet his fate wasn't going to the same?
Typically, a woman in stories seems to suffer more for her mistakes and lessons learnt than an equivalent male making the same mistakes.
Double standards?
The scream I scrumpt when she saw him.in his royal garb 😭 I need more on them!
Pride is not a good thing for anyone.Beautiful story.❤
Great story. She got exactly what she deserved and it speaks a lot about her character.
The story is not about her. It is about the prince waking up to the nature of women.
@@jonathanjacob5453 of course the story is about her, she's the main character. Despite that there are many life lessons that can be gained from the story and just how humans can be in general.
@@Jamcan4484 true
Love this story, the animation is amazing, also it’s not about the physical, it’s spiritual. 💜
@@YahkiYah_Yisrael love everyone despite of their appearance or status, leave all judgment to God, do unto others as you'd have them do unto you.
I love this lesson and for my fellow plus size ladies: remember who you are. Arinze noticed her while she was doing what she loved. She stood out.
Keep doing what you love, it makes you stand out to the right partner. There is a lot of wonderful lessons to learn from this story.
I listened to this story because it resonated with me. As a plus sized woman, she was already pure of heart and mind. She was who she was meant to be. She was who God made her to be. It was when she tried to be different and like everyone else that she lost her way. God didn’t meant us all to be the same. That’s why there are different color flowers and different types of people. It’s when you wish to be other than you are that you get in trouble, and when someone else sees you for the unique person you are, you should cherish it, if there is no evil intention in their heart.
She became the same face of how people treated her. Stay humble 💯 please 🙏 ❤
🎯🎯🎯
Great story.
Synopsis: Keep the “ego” at bay and stay humble.
This is the most amazing African story I’ve ever seen and heard of being told about an African princess.
This is the kind of stories we need to show our children ❤️❤️❤️
I agree completely! It might not have a happy ending for Ego, but in the end she reaped what she sowed, & the moral message of the story is something all kids should learn early on. Such a beautiful African folktale. I hope this gets turned into a children's book someday ❤
Much better than Nollywood movies of these days
Nollywood movies are getting lazy 😢
They've always been bad
😂😂😂
Everyone had wonderful things to say about the narration, the artwork, the story itself--every compliment is true and on point! ❤️ But no one mentioned the music 🎶. So simple and pure it made me want to 🩰 dance--like Ego! And so pure it almost made me cry. This whole piece was just beautiful!❤️ I hope you do more like this. You definitely have an audience, as I think you can tell.😉
I second everything you said and would also like say the music made me smile throughout this entire video❤
Always remember where you came from and stay humble. Trying to please others and having being cocky is why a lot of us are single now. Great video
Stumbling across this video as a black american woman just reminds me that TH-cam is such a great platform that transcends borders. The visuals depicted are perfect ❤ The story was entertaining, as well. The moral of the story will help many.
It means that Ego didn’t love Arinze initially, it was just because she was too fat to get someone else, and when she lost weight her true character came out!!
Exactly! I'm happy you spotted that. Thank you for watching 🙂
Exactly
Exactly people assume that fat women are soft and kind, but at the end of the day they can be just as mean and prideful as any thin woman.
I think it's because she never learned to love and accept herself her entire life. And it did not help that the villagers were so mean towards her when she was overweight. That is why she couldn't truly love anyone else.
@@tingting35wow yours is deep... furthermore she never had been in a positive position and therefore never learned to handle that side from her karakter in which she became the thing she probably hated most. If you look into quadrant allergies for her character, you could see this 😊
I learnt that we should never be arrogant and learn to count our blessings in all situations
I wished this story can continue without ending!
Just like Ego many people have thrown away their chances of settling with the one who genuinely love them just because they feel they are not in the same class.
This story is short but it should serve an eye opener for people.
Very good story,i have been a victim just like Arinze, when i was highly placed in society and had money,i had this friend whose son i sponsored to Canada,i also supported her and her other children financially, when i lost my marriage and moved to the U S,she and her children turned their backs on me.
I'm so sorry to hear that, I can relate to your experience on many levels. People like your "friend" they're opportunists, & users, people like them eventually they regret it. It's their loss not yours, they will reap what they sow.
I LOVE this story, it shows that there's someone for everyone. We just don't know how and when they might come. So you know that the one WHO CREATED US ALL, sees our pains and sorrows, and eventually gives us our heart's desires. She felt some type of way because of her weight. He came and was there and she got beside herself after losing all the weight and truly missed out on her joy.
God blessed her and then took the blessing away. Its like biting the hand that feeds you.
It's alright to remain single. Peaceful and happy. It's better than making babies with multiple men and ending up as an unwed mother or marry the wrong man and end up being a single mother with children to care for. Education is better than marriage. Independence is better than looking for someone to feed you and pay your bills. 😊
That belly didn't crawl up her as while she was sleeping imagine the smell of that mess whew
Not all big woman are smelly, actually most are conscious that, that's what people think of them and make sure that they do not smell.
Exactly men and women heavy set are cleaner than the little people 💯💯
Ego should have only wanted to marry the drummer. He was the only man that took the time to get to know her inner beauty. She's wrong for disrespecting him like that.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful story and so beautifully illustrated! It reminds me of a true life experience I observed. I went to school with a girl who had terrible teeth. They were all over the place and distorted her face shape. My friends and I thought that she was treated badly and defended her. However, on one occasion, shortly after she had started orthodontic treatment, I felt moved to share my own experience with braces and explained how my teeth were almost completely straight thanks to my orthodontist and that I was sure her treatment would reap positive results.
To my astonishment she sneered and said she didn't care to hear my boasts and that she would end up being much prettier than me. I was so stunned I was temporarily speechless. Her words were overheard by many people who had been previously sympathetic and they were disgusted and said so. Eventually she apologised to me, under pressure from them. Several of my friends and I could tell that her apology was not genuine and I confess I avoided her from that day onwards. However mutual friends mentioned her from time to time.
Over the years her teeth were straightened and she started to dress fashionably. She was never the beauty she predicted she would be but she was extremely vain and very critical of the appearance of others and unkind in other ways. Not everyone learns the right lessons from being mocked. Not all outsiders are good people. Compassion and modesty are essential qualities all people need to value.
Amen.
I have never heard any folk tales from Africa this was really good.
What a fitting name for the princess - 'Ego' 😊 Yes, that's what ego does. That's how we behave when we are in the grip of the ego, and don't love ourselves. We push away people who love us, and doubt / dismiss their love.
😅😅😅😅 I know right? Her Ego kicked it. 😅
That's true, but her name is actually different from "ego" in the English dictionary. It's just a nice or deliberate coincidence
@@smallz... Okk :)
Her name Ego literally translates to money but the true meaning is “something of value”.
@@kennyu2073 Yeah. I know the meaning. I just wanted the above to know it was different from the English word Ego, which means pride.

EGO look good in all these illustrations
Thank you so much; I loved the story; I only wish Arinze forgave Ego and married her; it would have been such a happy ending! Please continue with lovely stories like this!🎉
Ego means ego, it was her spirit that was mean and self centered, once she lost weight, her TRUE personality came out, being a princess there were privileges that came along with being born into royalty, she turned her nose up to the one true love who accepted her regardless of her size, she didn't realize he was looking for the same love and acceptance, someone who wanted a meaningful relationships, the table turned and she was in the same position as before, the moral of this story for me is, when love calls you better answer...
The last word got me "don't forget people who were there for you at your worst...."nice story
What a great story! I like that it has twists and a realistic ending with moral values rather than the usual fairytale happy ending. And I guess I am shallow but I really love all the African dresses and gowns in the illustrations! So stunning and fashionable, fit for the runway! Not only the dresses, of course, all the illustrations in general are superb! As a matter of fact, I clicked on this video simply because of the thumbnail and I am sure glad I did!
I love this, it shows how women are treated based on their bodies. I was once bigger and invisible . But also never believe your own hype .
Very true. After moved to new neighbourhood, I meet two preteen sisters, one was overweight with curly hair, and the other was slim with blonde hair. I meet them a few days later and remembered the name of the overweight sister with curly hair, but forgot the name of the slim blonde sister. in her own words the blonde sister told me that had never happened before, that most people remember her, but always forget the overweight curly hair sister. I realised what was happening, the blonde slim one was growing up conceited and the overweight sister was growing with low self esteem.
The images with those wonderful earthy colors make the story more special.
Ego lost weight and her EGO took over
It's a beautiful story filled with so many lessons. Being the 10th wife means that all the other 9 wives tell her what to do and can treat her like trash.
I met my Fiancé when i was at my lowest phase, personally and professionally. That's why i love him so much.

I love this story 🙏🥰
This story was wonderful and I also am a large black woman. I liked the message and would share with others.😊❤
This is a powerful love story. And I think that it pertains to many of us today. I think that many focus on the outward beauty of a person, their material worth, and the clothing that they wear instead of looking and focusing on what matters the most, and that is, the heart of a person. A person can look good, have a lot of material wealth and wear all the latest fashions, and still have an ugly heart that lacks real true love.
Too cheee! Totally agree😊

Phenomenal.
I really enjoyed this story. At first I thought it was going to be a wonderful romance, then I was saddened by how much she changed. Then I came to realize that she probably got what she deserved. Then I realized that it was a great moral story. The art and colors are beautiful and I can't wait to see more.
Ppl r not prepared for the new persona after great changes in their lives. I have seen the same when training a few obese women. The energy, the ideas, and the new perspectives require patience from the ppl in their surroundings.
Also, I saw a possessive man feed an athletic young woman to extreme obesity. As she gained less and less attractions, he now had the freedom to roam for more conquest. He got gonorrhea and crabs on the same night.
So, her change of circumstances might not have brought out the best in them as a couple. While her ego, suppressed for so long, exploded past the normality of her life, she already had the habit of indulgence.now she had different hungers. Faced with enforced isolation....
I LEARNT YOU SHOULD NOT FORGET THOSE THAT ARE THERE FOR YOU AT UR WORSE THIS IS AMAZING,❤❤❤
I loved this story, which kept me captivated. God bless.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I like this so much! It wasn't a fairytale with a happy ending, but a story with a moral. Thank You so much! As a larger woman myself, it was great to listen to. Also, love your accent!
Bruh! The amount of twists and turns in this was wild. JUST HAVE A HAPPILY EVER AFTER!
Wow! What an amazing and beautiful story with an African context! I think this should be adapted into a play and into a movie! People these days need to hear a beautiful story like this. As for me, I am reminded to treat my friends, who have been there for me through thick and thin, better. They really deserve more from me as a friend. I pray that I never fall to being egotistical or obnoxious or anything of that sort. People who grow into fame or wealth tend to have amnesia when they get to that point in their lives and quickly forget those who were there for them. This should be a lesson for all of us.
This brings tears to my eyes. Not because of the story, as the story is fantastic.
But because A.I. gives people opportunities to tell stories. :) I am grateful.
As for the woman...what silly woman gets rid of a guy that was there for her when she was overweight?
Stupid. People who marry on outer appearances are shallow indeed.
