Yes, listening to your body is critical to ultra running success. I have run 72 ultras and my 73 rd will be coming up in June. I can say that monitoring and listening to your body with regards to pace and nutrition is monumental in succeeding. It’s ok and in fact benificial to take a few moments and regroup on the trail. I sat down on a large rock in my last ultra to take a few deep breaths and drink some pedialite. In 4 minutes I felt like a new person ready to get to the finish and that’s what I did.
