RO2 is great and will always be fun, but damn this game had so much more emotion in it for me. From everything; the soundtrack, those intricate little stories on the team selection screen, the weapon descriptions on the class selection. They never affected the gameplay, but they added an invaluable level of detail in to the game that could be appreciated by casual or hardcore ww2 fans alike.
This game is 3 years older than me, but I still of fond memories of this game. Since this was virually the only thing my family's computer could run (Aside from things like aoe 2 original and some early 2010's pc games like banished), My dad still plays this game to this day. Maps Like Danzig, Kongisplatz, Stalingrad Kessel, Zhitomir, Leningrad, and even the community maps. Amazing game, which even got me into history today. Amazing I'll never forget it.
for those who didn´t know... the "Darkest Hour"-mod-team is still working and updating with westfront and now also easterrn front... even my love-map "Kriegsstadt"....!!!! there are people playing every evening... on we´s sometimes on 2 servers!!!
im from germany and he server is in london... the first players come in the CET afternoon... later many from the USA... the server is every day played up to 64 players and sometimes another tank-server with many players... there is much action till the morning CET...
I still play Darkest Hour mod! It's amazing! There is, always, 1 server with a lot of people! I enjoy very much the east front of this mod! The game still veeeeeeeeeery good!
@@pfcparts7728 not Heroes of the West from RO 2 Im pretty sure its dead already However we talking about Darkest Hour Europe 44-45 here from RO 1 which is alive and kicking. If you lucky enough to live in Europe you got lower ping and players playing in the same time as you
For those wanting to play this amazing game, veterans or newcomers, there are still active servers which I play occasionally. However I play more Darkest Hour Europe 44-45 (an excellent mod based on Ostfront with many more features with ongoing update support), so will speak more to that. For DH, I find there are usually two full (or close to full) servers during evening hours on week days and all hours on weekends for GMT+1 time zone (UK time zone). Both standard and armoured servers are available according to the time. Most of the servers I've found are located in London and I play from South Africa no problem (takes slightly longer to connect to maps, but no lag!) So yeah, if you've given up on RO1, give it another go
@@UnKn0wn86 Sorry for the late reply, not sure if this is still relevant. Yes, last I checked (about a month ago), there was an armoured-only server for Darkest Hour. It usually only gets full on weekends though. Not sure about the original game
I love this music and would gladly know the composer too. It is many times so sad, many times sinister, simply excellent. For such a game, that plays in such a terrible war, it is perfect. This is my favourite fps too, it has unique atmosphere for me. Thank you for uploading it, Kord364.
24:06 When you and your comrades are waiting in the trenches for the Comissar to give the Signal to charge. 24:30 Comissar : Comrades !! za Rodinu !!! Za Stalina !!!! URAAAAAAA !!!!!
This is a good soundtrack but you could have made it as a playlist so we can listen to each song individually. I like how parts are semi-ominous and calm though!
Oh yeah so true, this game is so intense and emotionally powerful. I am a big fan of History and especially Eastern Front during the WW2. One of the most horrible time and battle for both sides between 1939-1945 probably eventhough every front was tough.
I've never played RO:O, but RO2 definitely seems dumbed down in every respect to RO:O. Historical accuracy, soundtrack, sound design and atmosphere are mostly a step down in RO2. This is made a little bit worse by how it was marketed, the trailers definitely have a more "arcadey" feel to them, like they're trying to compete with CoD or BF. Edit: RO2 is still a great game, but RO:O is better in many ways.

I like Ro2's soundtracks more, they even have a morale system. (yes I know I'm 4 years late)
To all Danzig map veterans: Glory! You will be always with me

Never delete this video please... Damn my feelings, I spend so many hours in this game, gave me so much feels
6:48 and the Danzig map...forever fried into my mind.

Also try out mod for this game, Darkest Hour: Europe 44-45.

@@Joaosantos22114 Sure thing man
Any tank only servers left? I played this game and the mod a lot. RO2 was a disappointment.

Why is this not more known, that's by far some of the finest game soundtracks I ever saw... and I played quite a lot of games.

Hell yeah... just came back to this 4 years later to listen to exactly this part
5:10 - 5:22 is so epic
i see so much RO2 haters, why?
Speed Killer RO2 was not as hardcore as RO:O
So what? Sure I'd wish it was more hardcore but it is still a good game .

just like who yearn ancient rome and hate modern society. you can see these kind of people in any series game .
I understand what you say guys. Red Orchestra 1 is like a raw war game. The only negative thing about RO1 that it was VERY clunky.

RO2 at release was a pretty darn fine game. I've lost interest after a few updates though. Thankfully, DH is still getting support.
It was a sad day RO2 was released -_-
Oh come on, RO2 is a fine game, just because it maybe inferior to RO:OF does not make it shit.
