- Family Feud from 1994. On occasion, there are families that return to play for more money. On this particular one, the family came back after 14 years. Richard Dawson remembers so well about the "September" incident.
You will see the intro, family and a clip from this wonderful mishap. Richard's reaction when he watched this was priceless.
Honest truth, seeing this in 1994 is when I first got exposed to this infamous moment. Seeing it about 3 times on the reruns on GSN--I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING!
"September" makes me think of that disastrous fast money where one question read "Name an animal with 3 letters in its name?" Bob Jr. said frog, Bob Sr. said alligator.
Don't forget Bob, the man who claimed to have been all around the world...
"Something that Russia is famous for." His response? " _RUSSIANS!_ "

Richard is so embarrassed by his reaction and it's so cute!
I'll never get over that hilarious event. Especially since my birthday happens to be in September. It's amazing, and awesome. XD

That was Combs (and later Ricki lake for the G$ Marathon) who hosted on CBS. Dawson's original version was on ABC, which makes the latest Celeb primetime specials with Steve ironic.

That was so cool, I wonder if they just wanted to come back to the game or if they wanted to see Richard again ;)

I was so happy to see Richard Dawson return, yet bummed that this version was cancelled very quickly. I owe it all to my viewing stations at the time, which were WRDC-TV (Raleigh), and WWOR-TV (New York).
What's odd about that, the last player in the family is having a baby in September.

Well you have to consider that she could have been partially right. If the person is pregnant in May or June, the signs could show in September. lol

For me, it was KTBS in Shrevport, which aired it at 1:35 in the morning until the New Price Is Right was cancelled, then they moved it back to 4.
Instead of doing Celebrity Family Feud this summer, they should air a special on ABC where families who played on all versions return. Steve would definitely have a field day discussing the whole September thing with the Trejos.

There was much more to it than that. Ray had comedy clubs that he owned that were not doing well, and also, his marriage was on the rocks, which is sad because he was a father of 6 kids. Ray also attempted to pitch a talk show, and that never materialized. He managed to get a hosting job doing Family Challenge, but that show, format wise, was beneath him. It was a stunt show, and with Double Dare and Fun House already being the kings of messy game shows, Family Challenge offered nothing new. Ray did fine under the circumstances, but towards the end, you could sense he was trying too hard to make this show work. Interestingly enough, Ray was discovered when he was doing warmups for various shows on NBC. He was responsible for keeping audiences entertained during tapings of TV shows. So, in essence he was a stand up comic, but moreso, he had to keep people engaged and happy.
somewhat serious question: ever since that blooper happened what do you think Dawson thought when "September" by Earth Wind and Fire played on the radio?
I think Richard was reflecting on that funny moment every time he hears that song played out on the radio. As you know, the lyrics in that September song include the words "dancing in September".
Imagine all women showing their pregnancy during the month of September. That means all babies will be born in about the same month five months later, and that would've meant all the birthday parties of your son(s), daughter(s), relatives, friends, brothers, sisters,............. would've been celebrated during that month alone!

And never say never...it has aired on an episode by episode basis in the last few years...but because it had lower clearance and is not remembered as well by the general public, there's probably not as high as a demand for it as the classic shows..
I believe if I read correctly that NBC owns the format for 15 years from the last date of broadcast (Dec 31, 1993). I'm not sure if this will put that back into Fremantle's hands once the start of 09' comes, but hopefully that'll free up a possibility of seeing the Narz/Trebek episodes to come on air.
I vaguely remember seeing the 94'-95' eps having aired at some point in the late 1990s on GSN. At the moment, I've seen all episodes currently running except the horrid Anderson eps on at various times during the day. And it could be awhile since the Combs' eps JUST got back in rotation in the last month or 2...
Mark Goodson productions was sold to All-American in 1995 or so. The company does not exist. Fremantle owns the show, lock, stock and barrel.

Could be because they brought back a lot of families from the old version, and most of them probably couldn't have all five in attendance.

This is great bringing them back....but question.....does anyone have the Fast Money clip from Dawson 1994/95 with the question "Name something that weighs more than a ton"? Not quite "September," but funny nonetheless.
How weird. I didn't know they had only 4 family members in this version of FF when Dawson returned. It seems they did this revamp (the set too, as well as game format) for Dawson's return hoping to boost ratings.
Which the ratings did improve, but it declined cause of the infamous O.J. Simpson trial.

Request for a full length episode of this show DENIED. Too many "DEMANDING" request and poor use of language/good taste for requests for this piece. I might reconsider it someday if you are "NICE" enough.
