The best thing a music reactor can do is NEVER try to pigeon-hole Band-Maid into one genre. They will defy you. Talent and technical skills give this band the ability to embrace (and dominate) any genre. (including rap).
I caught Band maid in 2022 at the Fillmore in DC and then again in 2023 at Nashville. As awesome as they were in 2022, they sounded even better in 2023. Best live band that I have ever seen.
I was with you in Nashville and I agree, each time Band-Maid is just better each time! Seen them twice in 2022, Phoenix and Dallas, and twice in 2023, Nashville and Denver! Can't wait for another serving!

This one took me a while to get. Coming off of songs like “DICE” and “the non-fiction days,” these sounds are from outer space. What genre even is this?
Anyways, in the hotel elevator on my way down to experience my first okiyuji, the one guy who shared the elevator with me had a shirt with “Hunky dory day!” all over it. I smiled.
That night they sure enough played “Influencer,” and holy buckets! This song is custom made for a crowd to go bananas! And we did.

Here are some songs that you haven’t heard yet, and might still surprise you?
“Alone,” the very first Kanami written song to be approved by the label. It was the final track on their 2016 New Beginning album and after that? Every label songwriter retired 😂
2017’s Just Bring It. “Don’t you tell ME,” Puzzle,” and “Moratorium” are the three opening tracks OMG!! But there’s another killer track that gets overlooked: “Cross.” There’s a live version for you, too! 😊
Then came World Domination. Holy crow, what an album. You would think the 5 hits you’ve reacted to would cover it, but alas, you would be underestimating the Maids. “I can’t live without you,” the opening song. “FATE,” and “Clang,” all get the volume knob to 10.
The final for this round? A surprise that snuck by you. Arguably Band Maid’s heaviest song and the one they included on their Conqueror album in response to criticism that they were getting too poppy and soft. Kanami and Saiki didn’t take that well 😂 This was their answer: “Rinne/Reincarnation”

From JAPAN. Thank you for your reaction to BAND-MAID. As I always say, I love your analysis. Just a little information, the recording of the new album was completed a few days ago. The song "Show Them" on the new album is a collaboration with THE WARNING, and the three members of THE WARNING participated in the recording. I am very excited about the release and can't wait for it. It was very hot when this video was shot. Mincho (KANAMI) is afraid of heights, so I think he closed his eyes tightly on the cliff. As an added note, at the June 28 concert, she showed off her PRS private stock guitar, which she recently acquired.

Band-Maid is my favorite band by far. I got tickets to Lovebites too. If I see you I'll give a hollar.I got tickets when it was still at the HOB but they switched venues. I hope I can get a balcony seat because standing the whole time is pretty tough these days. LOL

BAND-MAID is music to my ears. (No pun intended). If their songs were given to another band to arrange and play from scratch it would no doubt be rendered useless. It will always amaze how they came to be. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Peace. 2.06
You need a really good progressive rock group to properly cover the instrumental elements… and I don’t know of any current ones that could do that and do justice to the vocals at the same time.
@@interstellardave I've listened to a lot of current bands and none of that music hits me on a consistent basis like BAND-MAID does. I stopped trying to figure out why they are so "rock steady" (pun intended) with their music for me. Their chemistry for making music is second to none. 😎

The Hunky Dory Days for USA, Mexico and Japan fans continue as their 2023 10th Anniversary Concert series closes after they performed a whooping 70 of their over 100 superhit songs. And their big climax at the 17,000 seat Yokohama stadium in Nov 26 was unbelievable! But the 2024 Chapter Two of Band-Maid’s quest for World Domination is now underway. A live Band-Maid experience is not to be missed, if at all possible! Thx, John!
After five and a half years, I still love them more every day. God that's drippy but I'm allowed to gush once in a while. Oh, and Kanami and Miku are the best songwriters since Paul McCartney and John Lennon.
Great review! Band-Maid can be a hard read on the first go-round, but you always seem to get all the interplay and uniqueness that this band brings to the table. And then your extra observations and enthusiasm make me go back and listen to it again. Thanks!

This one hits like a roller coaster. Disorienting rhythms, disorienting images, relentless pace, snarky lyrics with ever-shifting vocal lines, edge of reason guitar tones. Pulls G's at every turn. I lost my hat the first few times I heard it.
