9:22 Thank you for letting us see into your faster supply assortment.
I’m very fortunate that we have moved to the rural country where I, for the first time in my life, have a detached, do-it-yourself / hobby mechanic workshop, in addition to the daily driver garage attached to the house. I’m lovin’it.
I am using it, and making changes to the shop, and additions to the tools, and accessories.
I’m finding my most frequent issue is not having the correct nut, bolt, o-ring, spring, clip, wire terminal with the needed size hole, and why do they make so many different size fuses these days? That was not a big deal when I was under a five minute drive from my local farm supply store in Green Bay, which had a massive fastener assortment.
Now, living in the rural part of Door County, Wisconsin, the part of the state that if the back of your left hand was Wisconsin, we are living out on your thumb ✋ well, it’s a hours drive to the hardware store. The cost of a unused faster in my assortment is minor when compared to the value of my lost time to get a bolt. So, I’ve been building and improving my fastener supply assortment. I purchased a quality, metal organizer with ball-bearing metal slide out drawers, and have been filling it with the items I feel I may need, then labeling everting. I’m still not finished, but getting close to having the correct faster assortment for the equipment I maintain and repair.
Funny you mentioned buying hardware by the pound. Our local hardware store does that as well, SAE and Metric, selling by weight for some hardware, the common stuff. For example, with SAE sizes, they start selling in bulk at about 1/4” and larger. I went through their bins and purchased those items in small quantity during my fist round. Now, as I’m getting down to details, the remaining items I’m not finding a bulk, weight based purchasing option. If I need a #2 stainless machine screw, 3 inches long, thats in expensive package. I’ve checked Tractor Supply, Fleet Farm, and Fastenall. None of them offer the less common items I seem to need in my shop. Now, it’s getting far more expensive per item, but still worth it to me.
I am confident this addition to my shop will save me time and frustration for many years to come.
Thank you for a tour through your shop. Well done.
I may make a similar tour with a bit of explanation of what I do, and why I have what I have.

You pretty much built the shop I want, from the looks of things it is equipped to do 99 percent of anything I would ever try to accomplish. Really great setup and super nice!!!

That is a nice shop! I'm in the middle of rebuilding my little shop (literally doing footings, concrete, major work on the walls, and rebuilding the roof, while saving 60% of the stucco walls) right now and will go check out your cabinet video. I'm ready for everything to be in cabinets or drawers after having dirt and grinding dust on everything. X2 on 2 welders. I have the miller 211 mig (before they had the multi process 215 and 220) and I have a huge old Miller 330abp tig. After seeing the 220 that my brother got, it is nice, but I think I would rather buy a new compact tig and keep the mig I have. I see you even have your Lee presses setup out there...........that's awesome, although I like my black and blue presses (Hollywood, Dillon 1050, and Dillon 550). Thanks for the video!

Just stock counter from menards. A couple scratch and dent pieces keeps the price down.
