    I lived in Piscataway for years and have driven over Queens Bridge a zillion times. Your video is superb! I enjoyed watching it, though I did not enjoy seeing so much flooding. Bound Brook has endured enough flooding nightmares to last a lifetime. Let us hope and pray that Hurricane Ida is the last one we will see for a generation.

    I covered one of those floods in that area. Hurricane Floyd. It's bad. Unliveable. Once mold builds up on the wall. Toxic.
    Really sad. I like that area.

    I lived in bound brook, NJ which is on the other side of the river. In 1999, another flood occurred which was worse and destroyed Bound Brook, south Bound Brook And Manville, NJ. The stores on Maine street were wiped out. They build apartments and townhouses in their place. In1999, the flood was blamed of the snow melt and all the construction build on the the watershed. Nobody fixed the problem so it happened again in 2021. It will happen again if nothing it fixed.

    I saw Bound Brook there and it didn't look as bad as it did during the last flood or hurricane. The last time Main street got 10 feet of water in Bound Brook. This time, because of the new infrastructure, I didn't see that much water. Also, the name of the town is Bound Brook and South Bound Brook because the Green Brook creek runs into the Raritan River there. Its mostly in a flood plane just a few miles from where it empties into the Bay. The new condos in So. Bound Brook looked high and dry even though they are built right on the River and canal.

      @RGMGFitness  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I live over in the newer Condos (Canal Crossing). I posted some footage of how high the water levels got over here. 4" more inches and I think we would have been in trouble. you’re right. i live two towns over, close to manville new jersey, and it does flood all the time. i don’t get why they keep rebuilding. but they did actually put levies up in bound brook, and because of that bound brook did flood as bad, and if they got all their gates closed, only basements would’ve been flooded in bound brook. But when they “saved” bound brook, they made flooding so much worse in Manville, somerville, south bound brook, Bridgewater, hillsborough, and raritan. basically all the surrounding towns in the county. its ridiculous.

    Great video. It's really unfortunate that this is still happening...I remember about 20yrs ago I had just started a job in Bound Brook (like a week or so) near the train station and there was a flood. We had to be rescued by canoe. When I returned, the water line was almost up to the top of the door...it was devastating. Lost that job-they had to rebuild...

    It took a minute but I found my bearings and know what I'm seeing. I used to walk the length of the canal walk every other day. Everything is under water......the area below the trestle after Queens Bridge is filled with water. That has got to be 12 - 13 feet of water. I left the area May, 2019 and I did not recall seeing any of the new demolition and construction.

  • @dzerres

    Think about the technology behind this drone video. Any person with $400 or $500 can take these kinds of videos these days. There's absolutely no shaking. Now if we could only apply all of this intelligence and ingenuity to construction, zoning, planning and funding we might see less of this "surprise" flooding. I am amazed when I hear or read someone saying, "We got flooded again". Really? Seriously?

    • @exploding_pineapples
      @exploding_pineapples 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think your comparison is fair. Drone technology is waaayyyy easier to perfect and is much cheaper than preventing the force of nature from having water enter your town. Drones are tiny, houses and towns are huge. Getting cameras stuff is fundamentally easier than preventing floods. Not only that but solving flooding creates other issues, unlike drone. New Orleans has levees everywhere but it causes the water in the Mississippi to be faster and more turbid. Flooding is constantly getting worse because of climate change, and it's not like you can just tweak a town like you could a drone. Plus, it's not really "surprise" flooding. The NWS sends out alerts before flash flooding occurs.

    i live in Hillsborough New Jersey, close to manville, which flood really really bad. My house and my neighbors don’t flood, but there are some houses in my neighborhood that were completely destroyed in the flood. the water was up to the top of the roof and they are 2 story houses. My houses has never flooded, we are at the highest point in the neighborhood, but i’m worried that one day it will flood. i’m worried about that because if the levies and flood gates in bound brook. if the train didn’t get stuck, which didn’t allow one of the gates to close, my house probably would’ve flooded because the water wouldn’t have anywhere else to go. and because of the levies in bound brook, they made manville flood so much worse than it already did, and there was even flooding on main street in somerville! They fixed the problem in bound brook but screwed everyone around it. It’s so stupid.

    7 JEhovah has sworn by the Glory of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.
    8 Shall not the land tremble for this, and all who dwell in it mourn? And all of it shall rise up like the light. And it shall overflow and sink like the Nile of Egypt.
    9 And it shall be in that day, says the Lord Jehovah, I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the light of day.
    (Amos 8:7-9)
    25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars. And on the earth will be anxiety of nations with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
    26 men fainting from fear, and expecting those things which have come on the earth. For the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.
    27 And then they shall see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
    28 And when these things begin to happen, then look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption draws near.

    How people can still live in these parts of NJ is beyond me. It should be illegal to live and build residential buildings in these flood zones. I lived in NJ for 40 years and these towns have always flooded. The governments in charge have done NOTHING to help the people of NJ they only care to line their fat pockets by doing deals with developers. Residents of NJ take a good hard look at your state, look at how expensive it is to live there and how much you pay in taxes. You are getting screwed.
