No I didn't, I just placed a stove top on it.
You can use milk tins as well.

@@chinazamiracle3991 I wouldn't advice that. Your food being in such close contact with sand might lead to contamination. But if you must use sand, please place 3- 4 milk/ tomato paste tins as stand to elevate the fish from the sand.

No water at all. A pot, and a stove top at the base. You can use 3-4 milk tins to create the base.
