My clumping bamboo is hilarious, I'm a total noobie when it comes to bamboo but I noticed the spiral shoots popping up on the other side of my fence... I might need to dig down deep and check out what's going on. Your videos will definitely be very helpful, thank you.
For this variety of of clumping bamboo, I would recommend at least a 10 x 10 space for one plant. They may not get that big, but they do spread, albeit slowly
@ericpanda I have no idea what you're talking about. I re-watched the video I did not hear myself say "one plant." so I don't know. I think you're going to have to be a little more clear with your question if you want an answer.
@@myboringchannel I was asking a follow up question to your comment above “For this variety of of clumping bamboo, I would recommend at least a 10 x 10 space for one plant.” Thanks in advance
Ah, that makes sense. I have five plants in this grove. Each plant spreads to about 10x10. Each new culm is connected to the plant unless cut or break it off.
I was hoping that clumping roots will stay together - and not escaping through the barriers you did. There is no way I can do that much work to keep them from running and invading more territory than what I had planned for them. Amazing work, thanks so much for your videos! 👏
Well, to be fair to the plants, I have put them in a space that is too small for them. They really need about a 10' x 10' space and I don't think they would go much further than that. So if you have a big space you're golden.
Also, clumping bamboo will not escape if you have a proper barrier in the ground. It can go through stacked bricks like I have, especially if you are trying to keep it in a space that's too small for it.
Watch my very first bamboo video of all time… I think it was in 2011 or 12, and it was when I put running bamboo in my yard for the first time. In that video I show you how to put a proper barrier into the ground.
@@myboringchannel thanks for the video! How deep does the barrier need to be? Is 24 inch enough? Mine is black bamboo which is different from yours though
Stunning clump bamboo! I have exactly the same idea about using them to block neighbor's second floor window. Do you know how tall will they get? I need 16 feet, and my impression is that clumps don't grow to that height, but it seems from your video that they have the potential!
Thank you so much! I added links to every single bamboo video I have ever done in the description. You can see the history of this Grove year by year if you want.
Robusta / Scabrida / they do spread. But they will stop eventually and they spread much more slowly than running bamboo. They will get to a max of about 10 x 10 from what I understand. But since mine have a border around them, they can't get that big.
Wow, your Robusta Campbell are magnificent! 🎉🎉
Agree!!
Your videos made me decide on the Campbell. Love their eventual look but looks it’s going to take several years to screen out my neighbor. Thanks!
Been following your bamboo videos since you planted Phyllostachys and ripped them out and planted clumping bamboo, love the updates 👍
Thanks so much for the comment. Let me know if there's anything in particular you'd like to see in a video.
Love the bamboo updates!
Thank you!! I added links to all my other bamboo videos in the description.
@@myboringchannel Seen them all :).
More bambo i love the bambo updates

@@myboringchannel noob question: what do you mean by "one plant"? Like one mother clump with several culms?

Glad you enjoyed them

I don't know how tall mine are but I would say probably about 15 feet at this point
What N-P-K fertilizer have you been using on your bamboo and at what schedule?
I fertilize this grove about once every two years with regular lawn fertilizer
that was great

does bamboo lose their leaves or is it ever green?
Evergreen
