Hi just wanted to say that this is how I always wanted to paint Venom as a 90s kid. I got him last week on Black Friday and this video was so much help. He came out looking incredible.
This is exactly how I'm going to paint some of my Tyranid army 90s cartoon venom and carnage and some other symbiosis from some comics can't wait to get started
Oh man he looks awesome ! Going for the red and blue highlights really makes him stands out, I was wondering what your gonna do since he's all black with only a couple white details, fantastic.
Yes! I saw this a while back on your twitter and am excited you uploaded this to youtube, so I can reference while I do my own Venom in a similar style.
Favorite video you've done. Knocked it out of the park. I wonder if you could do this with purple first? Do like you did and start with one side but go purple first then red, then brighter red. Switch and do the same thing for the blue side, purple first, then blue, then lighter blue. You'd lose the exact look of the 90s era cartoon, but I think I might just give that a shot.
So i just found you channel because of a Useless Wizard interview, i definitly love your style, so unique, keep up the awesome work! Ill definitly try a couple of minis like this!
Hey, you can also highlight Red up to a tan. Orange and pink colors can ruin your tone of red, but a slight tan highlight actually works very well. Look up Darren Latham's Blood Angels
Love the videos. Trying my best to learn this style. A quick question. Or maybe request. Have you done any larger 40k vehicles ? Rhinos or something in your style ? Would really love a tutorial on that with the large panels and such
What brand/ type of brush do you use? I notice that the bristles don't spread out, like my brushes do. Currently using a budget brand, but I'm ready to upgrade. Thx
Most of the brushes I use are Artist Arsenal brushes from Game Envy - specifically their Phalanx Sable brushes, usually size 00 and 2 :) Sorry for the late reply!
I get P3 paint from Privateer Press' online store. Before COVID I sometimes got it from a gaming store a few cities away as well, but I haven't been there in ages.
@@Epicduck yeah i got that from your vid my friend it's that long ago my brain must have forgot about it as im 40 and used to watch the 90's spiderman and i just was sharing my opinion but love your content mate keep up the awesome work im thinking of getting into crisis protocol myself :)
The moment I saw this, I knew I would be copying this for my venom. Great work!
Copy away! :D Feel free to tag me @_epicduck if you post on Instagram or Twitter

This is so cool, loved the show in the 90's. The model looks very unique! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! Cheers!
That actually looks exceptional!

For sure, skin tones actually make good red highlights too. Maybe I'll do a video showing like 5 ways to highlight red sometime ;)
the cartoon and paint job always made it look like there was always a police or ambulance light going off in the background
a police car that *only* followed Venom ;)
My interpretation of the lighting on venom was to signify the light and dark side within- Eddie Brock vs the symbiote
Oh yeah, there's definitely Good vs Evil themes going on there. It's great how much storytelling Venom's appearance managed.
Looks awesome
What an excellent look!
So cool!
Amazing tutorial! What's a good substitute for Khador Red?

Sorry I somehow missed this comment! And sadly no, I don't really have spare vehicles kits kicking around to film.
Awesome work, where can I get a miniature holder/painting grip thing like you're using?
That's the Hobby Holder from Game Envy! Check out gameenvy.net/epicduck :)
Any chance you can post the list of paints used ?
Is this possible to do with red and blue contrast under the black one?
I doubt it, contrast paint tends to be quite splotchy and for this to look right you want crisp, solid colours.

@@Epicduck It's cool. It's useful information. The funny part is I often refer to my art tools as my "artistic arsenal". 🤯 Thanks
besides the citadel paint where do you get the other paint from? my hobby shop doesn't sell them

Goddam is fucking sick!
Thanks!
you should make symbiote suit spider man
Oddly, someone recently gave me a spare Spider-Man.... so that might happen now :)
@@Epicduck oh... i would like to see that.
I see your cards at my LGS, are you in niagara falls?
Close, I'm in Welland
@@Epicduck How much would you charge to do this style venom painted up? Interested in getting some guys painted up from CP.

Venom can be good or bad but with his son carnige being red i would have not done the red side looks cool tho
It's not Red because of Carnage, it's Red because that's how he was drawn in the 90s cartoon.
