Creative thumbnails may attract views but it's the quality of the content which retains the viewer. You have a natural talent that transcends the mechanics of video production. You speak to me as if I were a good friend sitting across the table. This is an attribute that many aspiring TH-camrs lack.

Thank you so much for sharing your personal story Duade. You speak from the heart (no pun intended). You are a very gifted wildlife photographer and you would make an amazing teacher. Your natural, relaxed, motivated and informed approach to your videos have me spellbound for hours. Enjoy the sofa for a few more weeks the weather is horrendous in Vic. Stay happy and healthy.

Duade, so glad that the surgery went well. You are so warm and honest, it makes us feel like we know you. I’ve learned so much watching you channel, and I’ve got to see places I will never travel to! For me, I don’t want to monetize my photography. Well meaning friends tell me to sell my work. I enjoy what I do, but I’m not pro level. Frankly I’ve monetized everything possible in my 62 year old life. Nature photography is mine. It brings me peace to hike with my camera and recharge my soul! I mean where else would you want to be! You really need to sell that on a shirt. Cheers!

Hi Duade! Thank you for answearing my question at the end of the video!
A very humanistic and emotional response and I resonate with it 100%. We get lost too often and too easely in our minds, giving too much of our time, energy and life to meaningless technical details only because we can measure them. Probably the most important things in life are inmesurable.
Wish you all the health you need in your journey and many many beautiful moments, memories, and from time to time also photos, ahead! Cheers!

Great video, Duade, very inspiring. And best wishes for a speedy recovery from your surgery. One omission from your bird locations was the wet tropics, Far North Queensland. Hope you can get up there some time. There are species that you will not see anywhere else in Australia, as I am sure you well know. I lived there first 20 years but have had to reluctantly move south for family reasons but planning a return for the Cairns Birding Festival next month. The Silent Whisperer Daintree River cruise is outstanding for the variety of birds and the ability to get up close.

It is refreshing to watch content from someone who does not do it mainly for the money.
In the past I have followed a few people who have gone down that path and the content often becomes less relevant.
I really like your youtube style and content, hope you are able to continue to do it going forward for many years.
Things like your honesty about the keeper rate and showing some of your shots with the initial and final cropped/processed images are really appreciated.
This alone raises your credibility a lot, as you get mentioned in places like Mu-43 forum, and people mention things like this.

There's always so much wisdom in your videos! I just re-bought 7D2 with Sigma 150-500mm, but I'm also using it on my Olympus E-M1 mk II with an adapter and works surprisingly well. However, you said the most important words at the end! As much as I love wildlife and photographing it, one of my best experiences (a pink robin landing close by for my best shots thus far) also left me feeling very bad. I popped into the reserve just for a few minutes, on my way back from the dentist... and ended up spending 2hours while my wife needed some IT assistance at home 😢 so it's a brilliant reminder that your loved ones should always come first! Hope you recover soon!

I thoroughly enjoyed this segment. Those are great questions from your readers and subscribers! I love your ending Duade... your loved ones comes first. My soulmate wanted me to get back into photography and it took me a year and a half after her passing to even want to pick up a camera again. I chose birding and knew I had to start out with the right equipment - that turned out to be my R5, 100-500 and later on the R7. Bird photography gave me a sense of purpose and a wonderful journey experiencing the beauty of creation.... I am so glad to hear your life saving surgery went well... Thank you for your amazing work and inspiration.

So glad you are on the mend. My job in NZ is to interrogate and program these cardiac devices, it makes me very happy in my work to hear stories like yours, when technology allows people like you to carry on living life and enriching the life of others. Your passion for your craft really shines through in your videos and I love it when you get distracted by a bird during a video. We all sadly have our own or loved ones health challenges throughout life, and what you said at the end of the video resonates strongly with me. I had 2 injuries and a few other health scares in 2021 and thought Id never travel again, now I can I'm doing it as much as I can (although leaving the non-adventurous loved one at home with his blessing of course). I'm looking forward to visiting Cairns in Sept and seeing some of the beautiful and noisy Aussie birds especially a Cassowary....spiders not so much.

Not sure how many "question video" you'll do but maybe one of your future video could include a description of the settings you're using when shooting with the R5. I really enjoyed listening to your answers and am always amazed at both the diversity of birds and the similarity of birds in another hemisphere. Thanks for the great content. I do hope someday you get to travel to Alaska. As a person who was born in Alaska and lived there for 25 + years, I can tell you it is a wonderful part of the world. I just wish I paid more attention to the bird species found there when I was a younger man. If you get a chance to go, hit me up and I can at least offer some suggestions, as Alaska is a big state or at least direct you to a good pint of beer there in the "Land of the Midnight Sun". Wishing you a very speedy recovery.

I'm so happy that your surgery was smooth and successful. I really enjoyed this presentation. Whether you're sharing from out in the field or behind a desk makes no difference to me. I always learn something or can relate to certain experiences. Wishing you continued health. Thank you, Duade.

Hi Duade, You come across as a genuine helpful person and obviously very caring. Your videos are great, interesting, inspiring, and informative as well as realistic. Wishing you a speedy full recovery and successful future photography adventures.
I would love to shoot a Kaki too. So far I've only seen hybrids crossed with the Pied Stilts. 🙂

Hey Duade I've been watching your videos for a few years and you're one of my favorite wildlife photography resources to this day. I never knew about your ticker but I've had some lengthy recoveries this year too and it sucks being grounded. I hope you recover smoothly so you can get back out there. Thanks for all your work 🤙

Nice to see you're doing well Duade. It's always a treat to watch your videos; Police, teacher and in my opinion you should consider be a motivational speaker. I think you would excel at it.

Good that your defibrillator is doing its job well now. No stress is definitely the key to a healthier life and living where you do, it appears very tranquil. I sometimes think I'd like to enter a photography competition, and perhaps sell some prints, but then I think that will become stressful and take the fun away from my hobby. So thinking about it is all that I do. LOL. Thank you for all the videos you create, the time and effort is greatly appreciated. It is always great to listen to your advice and your honesty in evaluating gear. You really do get some stunning shots.

Wishing you the very best always! In addition to inspiration and information, there is in your presentation and delivery a 'calming' effect to all of your videos - it's always there, no matter what video I've watched. I suspect this ability translates to everything you do. Thanks! :)
