My favorite part of the entire video: "Laxatives."

The best part about Dancer is giving it to Galuf for the Exdeath fight. Nothing like seeing a little old man in that beautiful outfit Jitterbugging on the big bad.

I had that dude schmooving in his Summoners robe thanks to the Dancing Dagger. No length of dress was stopping Galuf on the floor.

Time mage is my favorite job in this game. I like how well it helps my other characters get all silly.

Incredible. I laughed. I cried. I threw roses.
I think that the job system in FFV makes it very easy to forgive for having a simpler story and characters. You mentioned in the bit about Faris how players can kind of fill in the blanks with how they perceive the character, and I think depending on the player, that can also apply for the less robust story/world/characters. For me personally, I was fascinated enough with the job system that I wasn’t really bothered by any of the story beats or anything, but the characters at least felt real and distinct, especially comparing to characters from earlier entires like 1/2/3. Overall I really enjoyed hearing about your experience with the game and really look forward to the next installment!

I think for me there was a difference in 1/2/3 where the characters were (almost literally sans 2) blank slates that I could project my own personalities and characters onto. Like if my character was someone who kept missing I would project them as a wimpish choke artists or something. in 5 there were characters but they were in a sour spot of being too defined to project much onto but too flat to enjoy what was there.
but yea this whole game is Job System. We Job System all day in here.

With any luck, my FF6 will come out to bridge the gap (not likely, thats probably at least 2+ months away)

this is a good video and i would LOVE to comment on it for engagement. so here goes: while krile is fine i wish the replacement for galuf was bartz' werewolf stepdad. just think about the bonding time events for lenna and faris but also now for bartz and his werewolf stepdad. think about it.
also my roommate watched this with me and she says "thanks for the psa (poop service announcement)" thanks j

I simply do not wish anyone to go through surgery constipation.
Also totally agree, gimme the wolf stepdad. We have to wait until FF7 before we get something half as cool

You summed up why I find FFV to be one of my lesser favorite games in the series. Not a bad game at all but it does drag on in spots.
Also the fire tablet dungeon is a total cakewalk when at least one party member has the Bard job. Requiem does so much damage it's not even funny

I had to stop the vid after I heard you talk shit about FF5 bard. Dismissing FF5 bard is a MASSIVE mistake. I know you went into this one blind but the thing with FF5 bard is that you gotta play pianos. There's 8 pianos in the world. Playing all 8 (and talking to a specific NPC) gets you their ultimate skill which is Hero's Song/Rhyme/Whatever (translation dependent). That skill locks the bard into singing until he dies, but so long as he's singing, your party gains levels, which makes them do more damage, take less damage and allows them to evade some stuff.
The reason why goes into damage calculation formulae in the game and who has time for that type of nerd shit.
Yet another banger from J but I'm not letting you talk shit about FF5 bard.

So i actually did play all the pianos, I just was already set in my builds so I never checked out the Bard in any real capacity. This is such a shame, I love Bards. If I do play this game again at some point sans FJF Bard/Dancer/Chemist are the jobs I know im building towards

Fun fact: The Bard has a song that inflicts Stop.
Funner fact: _it works on Omega_
