0:40 this is quite literally my situation. I’m a dialysis patient and I was kicked off of medicaid for really stupid reasons. I go o a clinic 3 times a week for 4 hours a day and I racked up a 165k bill from them. I also had an emergency where my lungs filled with fluids suddenly and I had to go to the emergency room. I told them I had no insurance, they said it’ll be fine. They kept dilly dallying around doing tests on me that weren’t necessary like usual. Left me with an 8k bill plus 1k from radiology, 1k from a doctor who literally just showed up to read my labs and that was it. He just confirmed that I’m a dialysis patient and I have acute whatever the word is for fluid in lungs. And 1k from the fire department for showing up and taking me to the hospital. Plus an extra 600 from another radiology group, idfk. But yea… super stressed but I have my own insurance now, so I shouldn’t have anything worth 10 years of my income any time soon hopefully

Do people not realize that the US has public healthcare too? You can get private if you want, but there is public for low income households. I didnt have any insurance last year and had to have an emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder that was about to rupture. Didnt have to pay for anything since they automatically signed me up for Public healthcare to cover the costs.
