Raid 2, favorite modern martial arts movie hands down. Beautiful, cinematic, developed, amazing fight choreography, and I feel for Ikos character even more through this continuation of his arc.
The night I saw The Raid, I was planning to see some other shit and I remembered the trailer right then and there as I saw the title on the time board. This was literally a last minute decision and it was the best film decision I ever made that year before Dredd.
I agree with 110% in your review for the Raid films. They have revolutionized martial arts action films for the 21st century. Gareth Evans has said that he will do a Raid 3 to complete his Raid trilogy around 2018-19. I can't wait for that. You should do the Donnie Yen Ip Man films when you restart doing the movie dojo episodes.

I dare to compare the Raid films with the Thief video game series (except the newest one, Thief 4). Both emphasize the action/gameplay but have a deep lore that, while you can completely ignore, makes the experience MUCH richer if understood..
Prakoso's role is actually an important one. Being a loyal member to banguns crew, he is being used by ucok for starting the war. Prakoso's death gave ucok an "excuse" to attack.

Fun fact: director gareth evans had originally written the 2nd movie first, however he was not able to get the movie funded. So he made The Raid: Redemption as sort of a plan B in order to get abit of recognition so that he can get funding for his 2nd movie. And when the The 2nd movie was able to get the funding it needs, Gareth Evans decided to change the storyline abit to link it with The Raid. And thus... The Raid 2 was born.

its been 8 years now, and almost 12 years i guess from the first premier? if you like the fight hand-to-hand combat scene, then the message of evans has delivered done, all about how amazing silat is, and the camera perspective is like "whats going on in there side?". "how is it?" or "who fuvking that?" so yeah almost camera giving us view likes audience about figh scene, yeah every combat have a level i guess, just like we are playing game right, curious, intersting level hahaha
this is great review .. cause you can felt that movies.. that movies not like hollywood action movie.. to be honest before I watched the raid 1 and 2.. i like watch spiderman.. hulk.. avangers.. iron man.. badboys and many action movie with a lot of guns and wearing cops Atribute and say "I'm police.." and many dialog is not important at that's movies. at the end.. they (the heroes/main character) win.. and get some fucking kiss and sex with girlfriend.. i agree with you "the raid 1 and 2 is most good action movies..

The Raid 3 is coming~ i think they said The Raid supposed to be a trilogy and the 3rd one gonna be released/made in 2017. anyways, i once watched The Raid with my my parents (both are action movies fans). Then my mom excitedly said "oh, Silat! they (Silat martial artists) really like it when they fight in small space/room! That's their speciality. Silat was bound to be a close combat that's why it'd benefit them to fight in small room/space." anyways, have you guys watch MERANTAU? That's Iko Uwais' first movie with the same director.

The director, Gareth Evans and Timo Tjajhanto (1/2 of the Mo brothers), has also made horror films and they are good..their segment in VHS2 ( Safe Haven) is one of the most disturbing movies I've seen in a long while.
THE RAID: REDEMPTION can be watched without sound and be perfectly understandable. If it was Gareth Evans's A Fistful of Dollars then THE RAID 2 is his The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. That said, I prefer the first Raid. There were two or three fights in the second Raid that I found laugh aloud hilarious because they were ridiculously over-the-top brutal, like parts of the car chase or when Rama broiled the cop's face on the grill top ("Dammit, man, I said medium rare, this is well done").
Well, there is a bad news about the Raid 3. Gareth Evans revealed the sequel was on hold with the franchise likely having ended, stating "Moving back to UK felt like a closing chapter on that franchise - we ended the story pretty neatly (I feel) in Part 2.
