It don’t really affect in this situation because the tires are spinning your not even putting are you power to the ground but you are right

Back in the day a G and M on the farm were a hell of a dou.
A stock M couldn’t put pull an A. G would out pull easily. Considering it beat a M with a 3.9 Cummins.
@@wademills1616 if I hadn't pushed the clutch a couple times, we'd just dug holes to China. The g will run out of power way before the 4bt.
@@AndyFrommbull crap. That John Deere will run out of traction before it runs out of power. And it was hopping so she had plenty of traction. That 4bt may be strong but it ain’t as torquey on the bottom end as the G. That 4bt is all top end power!

The ol coffee can two cylinders always put up one helluva fight. Gearing helps

All about traction both tractors are spinning tire so it’s not the engine lacking power it’s the fact the tires can get it to the ground

@@dustineiffler7145 The John Deere is almost all rear weight, the IH carried a lot on the front. The IH weights are always in demand for pulling tractors

Yea I have a wide front tractor with no front weights and it’ll tip backwards if I put more than a thousand or so pounds on the three point

I grew up on a G, the thing I liked the most about it was that it never got stuck, just unhook from what you were pulling and it would claw its way out
Thats usually the trick, unhook and come back for the implement. 👍

Most engine swaps are a joke. Quality products are engineered. Not just parts thrown together, most people don't get it. Good video!
The two cylinders weren’t great on the belt or PTO. But they were born to pull.
Them 2 cylinders were torque monsters, even a modern engine can't beat it that's awesome

Forgot to mention. What is now my JD 520 pulled a hung up truss delivery semi out. Tandem axle tractor but only 1 had power. Dug 4 large holes with the 520 but got the semi moving. Oliver about same size couldnt touch it.

Gotta love ole two bangers throwing basketballs back and fourth and nothing sounds like a G luggin down. BUUUTTTTT i would never do that with a G without a wide front and weights I’ve heard lots of story’s of those G’s back flipping and even left skid marks in my pants loading it on a trailer.

My old trailer was sketchy loading tractors but my newer one isn't too bad. 👍

I did something similar only with an F-250 4x4 against an IH Super M. We both just dug trenches. He couldn't pull me and I couldn't pull him. The advantage I had was we were on a hard packed dirt parking lot and the Super M's rear tires were worn out. If his tires were in good shape, he probably would have pulled me, especially if we were on softer dirt.

Had a Farmall mechanic tell me that He saw that matchup and the G did the same thing. I was in college then and I got out in 1964.
Dont think because its 2 cylinders its weak. Those pistons are the size of a house. Nothing runs like a deere

I feel like it was a pretty fair tug-of-war. When you have two machines that are about the same weight with about the same tire on the ground it doesn’t really matter how much horsepower you have as long as you can turn the tire over.

Did the same thing with our hired hand ,when I was a teenager. Super M vs. a JD 60. The front end came up on the 60. Chain broke missed the other guys head by about a foot, slammed the 60 down on the front end. He was on the M. Don’t do this shit it’s stupid.

She has more weight over the rear tires. Put the cast centers back on the M and you'd be good
Note how the JD isn’t wasting diesel on overdone visuals. Those old engines were something else.
It just burns about 5 times as much gas with no "visuals". 🤔

The M has a front heavy situation and won't buck up like the G which has a lighter front end. The JD design has the weight on the rear wheels.Larger diameter rear tires make a difference too.Cant tell if the modified M has a bit bigger tire than a stock M.Overall an interesting demonstration.The modified M is interesting.Of course the G is a classic. At the time these tractors were manufactured cost was a major factor.They competed against each other for a farmers dollars.I have run both Farmall and John Deeres. Still do too.
I doubt they had the same front to rear weight bias. I probably checked once but don't remember.
The m has 18.4-38 tires.
The G has 13.6-38 tires.

They are both almost the same hitch height and weight. Front vs rear weight I don't know.

Back to back pulls don't have anything to do with power. It is all traction which is why high hp equipment doesn't do well.

I don't know if she ever asked me to do dishes. She keeps the house pretty much spotless and I'm supposed to take care of the outside and fix things.

I don't think this had anything to do with power but weight balance, tire size, tread, and hutch hight. This M has about 200hp
You weigh 300 lbs and she might weigh 80 so I think you are taking advantage
If I remember correctly, the G is just over 6k with her on it and this M is about 5500 with me on it.

I wouldn't mind doing a parade or tractor drive someday. We have a few tractor drives here in Minnesota but I always seem to be busy. I've also been thinking of painting some of my tractors up (the JD G I bought painted)
