  • Joe Schmidt's has a 100% record as Aussie head coach. ok, so it's only 1 game in but nevertheless, huge positives from that hit out. Meanwhile, the problems intensify for Warren Garland. How do you solve a problem like Wales?!

My view as an Aussie is we didn’t play particularly well, or set the world on fire. What we did was go and execute the absolute basics. But this is positive and the foundation which can be built upon.

Garland’s issue with picking Ospreys players is very hard to understand. You’re spot on that the irony is that club currently suits his style more than Cardiff or Scarlets. The Wainwright injury is making his decision to leave Morgan Morris at home look really dumb.

I have pointed out to you before. Eddie took an experimental team to the WC leaving at least 10 experienced in-form players inexplicably behind. Some of these (Tom Wright etc) shone last Saturday. Most of Eddie's promising 'punts didn't even make the squad, let alone the match 23. It goes to show that 'promise'' is subjective. The team Rennie would have taken to the WC would have been superior and certainly better coached. The foundations had been laid in the spring tour (the Italy debacle aside). With Joe we are getting back on track, the adults are back in town, and sanity has been restored.

In Wales its just a damage limitation exercise until the domestic game is sorted out and at least one region is dropped. That will take a long time, if it happens at all. First game was awful, zero in attack, wtf is Howley doing back there, its like back to the future, their time and their methods are outdated. Very sad.

I said from the moment Gatland came back he was the right man to take us through to the end of the world cup but after that we needed a complete reset. He should of gone after the 6 Nations and the fact he even offered his resignation to tells me he's given up. There are bigger issues than just the team picked to go out on a Saturday yes but this is simply not good enough. Grady is not a 12, far better suited to attacking just outside the 13 channel whether that is from 13 or wing. Thomas although was ok is not an International 10 would of been better at 12. Leaving Ospreys players at home when they are the best performing region is simply mind-boggling when you think we are really struggling lack of talent. Wainwright is the only Lion to be in that squad at the moment and now he's injured really struggling for any positive to take. With Fiji, South Africa and Australia again in the autumn we are staring down the barrell of a winless 2024

If I look at the WRU, and who is sitting in the box, its all 80's 90's. Get some new ideas, get a plan thats relevant to today and not even that- relevant to whats coming down the track- and visible it seems to rugby lovers everywhere : stop messing about, seemingly mired in the past?. How many welsh kids presently aspire to play for their country...?? Rugby needs a strong Wales.

I feel that as the national coach of a country with limited .resources. you need to be pragmatic and optimise what you have.........unfortunately Gatland appears to he a stubborn one trick pony. Who makes bizarre selection decisions that smack of cronieism and ignores some of the best available players..
He got away with a lot during his last tenure......so he was able to overlook people like Lee Byrne, James Hook, Dwayne Perl etc. based on 'personality clashes'......but the cupboards far too bare now.

Sorry Stupid question, but why does world Rugby NEED a strong Wales or Australia. World Rugby just needs strong teams doesn't matter who they are.
If Wales get replaced by Georgia or or Portugal for example so be it.
All teams and sports go in cycles. It's sad if you are Welsh, but to can't artificially inflate Wales and put down Georgia because of Rule Britannia
