The song was also performed for the first time in an Italian city called Reggio nell’Emilia. The Italian anthem was composed about 50 years later when it was the Italians fighting for their independence. Fun Fact: the (Aperol) Spritz originates from Venice at the time when the austrian empire ruled the region and the austrian soldiers stationed there found that the italian wine was too strong for them so they always asked for water to be splashed into their wine to make it lighter. That's the toughest national anthem in the world, you listen to all other anthems and your quick to block your ears. It just has that vibe of go out there and attack.
It was written with that purpose. It tells of one of the leaders of the Italian revolution (or Risorgimento) who talk to the crowd, inviting them to fight for the homeland. (All the stanzas and the chorus are singed two times, in original the first one by a tenor - the leader - the second by a choir - the crowd. And the second time the chorus ended with a "YES" shouted by the crowd). It should be played with more energy than this and with an accelerating tempo (the tempo is a moderate march at the begin and become a very excited "allegro mosso" when the crowd sing the chorus).

Very nice anthem. I never knew the lyrics, but whenever Italia plays, i'm always excited to hear this anthem.
It was written with that purpose. It tells of one of the leaders of the Italian revolution (or Risorgimento) who talk to the crowd, inviting them to fight for the homeland. (All the stanzas and the chorus are singed two times, in original the first one by a tenor - the leader - the second by a choir - the crowd. And the second time the chorus ended with a "YES" shouted by the crowd).
It should be played with more energy than this and with an accelerating tempo (the tempo is a moderate march at the begin and become a very excited "allegro mosso" when the crowd sing the chorus).
