I am learning to weld. This is one of the better videos I have seen. He is a very good teacher and I like how he goes back and reviews in detail the technique and areas to improve.
I wouldn't have watched as much but it was enjoying to watch a student make progress and a good teacher sped up. I bought a muti process welder a year ago and have always used mig but thought it would be nice to have stick. I see I have some learning to do. Which I'll enjoy doing as well.
I'm looking at this instructor and I'm like man, he would give a crazy safety brief or hip-pocket training. Then boom USMC on the arm. Nice, Just retired from the Army. I hear Welding is the way! Learned a lot on this Channel!!
Great teaching skills. I learned a lot watching this, and I'm sure "That Tile Chick" did to. She'd be one bad momma once she learns how to stack dimes, and walk the cup on top of having a tile biz. Great stuff guy's!!
This was pretty cool and relaxed. You are good at teaching this to people practically, and by proxy, those who watch it on youtube. Surely you deserve a beer or such like for your efforts. Cheers!
28:25 one trick my friend thought me was to slip the rod over the edge of that plate so you have the flux touch it and you pull back and over. That motion is enough to strike arc super easy and is my go to. The rods flux will be rubbing the plate and you just pull.
This is a really good video. got all my gear together and a bit of steel and some thick scrap to practice on first before i build my own welding table and go from there.. Best beginner video ive seen thus far. Thanks all the way over here in Australia! :) Wanted to learn for a long time! Internet is a great tool!
Very impressive, teaching someone to weld(stick) is one of the most difficult things to do for someone. The real fun is striking and maintaining the arc
When I was 16 yrs old in high school I wanted to build a fireplace grate in shop class, but it involved welding and before I spoke up for myself another student volunteered to weld my project for me and I let them, here it is 40 yrs later and I realize how simple it could have been for me to weld my own project. I could have built some nice things out of metal if I wasn't so afraid of welding back then.
Picked up a cheap stick welder the other day. I’m a complete beginner and have watched quite a few vids now but feel like this was the best so far thank you for making my welding easier 👍👍👍
@@actual_nonsense to be honest I haven’t had a lot of time or materials to do much. It took a few days of just running sticks along plate to get a feel for it but once I got used to my machines settings and my speed I was able to do what I’d consider fairly decent welds. A cheap auto dim helmet also made a huge difference
Just found your videos by accident. I'm also glad I did, enjoying all I'm seeing. Semper Fi Brother, Hollywood 67-2000. Pot 1031 Keep your videos coming.
@@enriiqu30 I went to a scluptural metal school actually hahah learned to forge weld before we ever touched the o.a. tig mig or stick welders. It was definitely no welding school but I was able to learn to run a bead with all types of welders. No where near the instruction I would receive at welding school I am sure. I am not hating, I am just struggling to see why this information is relevant to the video.
This was a very helpful video for me I would like ro purchase a welding shirt and welding helmet. I would definitely like to see Part #2 of this. Mr. Rodriguez
Excellent content. I think what you might be trying to impart as to loosening the hand is developing muscle memory through repetition. The same concept applies to various fields of hand work.
ive learned more from this channel my actual college welding class im taking the instructors literally havent helped me at all really i wouldnt have signed up if i knew the dude wasnt oign to pass down his knowledge
You helped my stick welding watching this, I still struggle with starting the Arc. I am using a HF Vulcan 220, wth HF sticks. Would getting better sticks make a deference? I will keep practicing, cause I have to use stick on a grinder build for my channel. I am using a truck rotor for the base, I will preheat, and let it heat slowly, so it doesn't crack. Luckily, I can MIG the rest of it.
I just bought a 650 amp chinese machine from a friend here in thailand (220volts). I am just a beginner, when using 6013 rod are the amps 30/60 the same as on a 150 amp machine compared to 650 amp with arc force /hot start. Thank you.
Can you reccomend a welder to buy to start learning with (i have low budget ) but maybe you could recommend a few at different budget levels Thankyou for your video teaching and God bless you and your family
When you are doing this, should the tip of the electrode/rod always be touching the metal or should there be a gap between the electrode and the base metal?
I have a Halo air compressor for my babies stroller tires can I use this to practice into a welder until I get a machine or do you recommend a tattoo gun a wood burner or shot glue gun for practicing?
Another way of saying pushing is feeding. You do not want to decrease the arc length. It's not literally pushing the rod to the plate you don't want to make contact. You're just feeding the rod into the puddle
What would be the main reasons to use the three different techniques, and not use one is there advantages to using 1 of those techniques of the 3 instead of the others?
My understanding is that you would use the first technique to lay down “root” to start with, and then the second technique for a “hot pass,” and then the third technique as a “fill” and as a “cap” for finishing. The root would be straight down the middle of whatever you’re welding, the hot pass is right over it, but getting a little more coverage above and below with the motion you’re doing, and then the fills are like a little above and below that. The cap I think is kind of a final pass making sure that the uppermost portion is as secure as possible with no gaps or thinness up top. I think the general idea is that you’re mixing all of these to make stuff as secure and even as possible. If you just used one technique or one pass, you risk failure of the weld over time and stress. That’s what I’ve gathered so far, but don’t take my word as gospel. I’ve only watched a few videos on this.
hi guys i want to meet you someday and i really want to work in your area im hoping thay you read my message ... stay safe and Godbless .. from the philippinea
Do you guys recommend a stick welder as a first time welder for general purpose projects like fencing and working in cars? Or do you recommend a MIG welder? Also, can you recommend a couple machines for the first time buyer??
This is supposed to be welding school but no one has explained to here bout the process been LIVE all the time and not to touch or put down her stinger, no mention that she should remove the rod when finished etc... If that's how they teach, someone is going to electrocuted, start a fire or even be killed.

Great Tutorial video with a very patient knowledgeable teacher!! Keep them coming!! Thanks..
Thanks for the videos I’m a mig welder just started with stick and I love it. Good tips
Try a masonry grinding disc to remove mill scale it helps not dig into the metal as much
Good tip

Excellent tutorial. Great instructor.
I have a love/hate relationship with both of those rods. Also, a lot of burns and cussing from the 6010...
Bruh
In my school I learned how to oxyfuel and plasma cut before ever touching a welder!
And how is that at all relevant to this video, who cares what your school did.
@@Mesa877 I just thought it was interesting how at their school they first learn to weld. Day one.
He just hatin cuz he can’t even afford welding school

Oxy-fuel welding IS "touching a welder"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this video was full of great information and goofy head ware
Exceptional instructional value in this video!
Great job! You’re a fast learner.

Good videos tutorial welding work steel fantastic videos you 👍👍👍👍👍
do a video on a 3/8 plate 7018 all the way. Having a difficult time with the root.
I remember the first time a tried to lay down a bead I welded the rod to the stinger😅😂
Thank you for your help to doing for us
Mr. Rodriguez is a cool Instructor
Hmm I only know how to tig weld!! But this video is cool!!

Nice 💛
I like both shirts. What are they called? Where do you get them?
Best watch from Thailand Please learn with you.
The beads that come out as sparks is there a way to make them go farther and last longer on a track?
he definitely tapped
😭
Muy buena la clase 😃
I have a Halo air compressor for my babies stroller tires can I use this to practice into a welder until I get a machine or do you recommend a tattoo gun a wood burner or shot glue gun for practicing?
The angles that you use have to do with the construction of location where the ac s are?
How long is the welding course?
I just signed up at the local college I'm sure excited
When you say “push” are you meaning pressing down? So forward back pause push (press down) applying more downward pressure??????
Another way of saying pushing is feeding. You do not want to decrease the arc length. It's not literally pushing the rod to the plate you don't want to make contact. You're just feeding the rod into the puddle
yes
So it gets tricky the hotter the plate gets also. A cold plate is hell to strike an arc. He is skipping the the soapstone straight lines
Shannon is fast learner
