  • In this video, we will be discovering a shortcut between the Krim-Belkacem Boulevard (Telemly) and Mohamed-Bougara (El Biar) via a street known for hosting the hidden and beautoful Tifariti Park, one of the nicest in the upper part of Algiers.

You Should Drive From Hussian Dey To Tamentfoust

Thank you very much for your suggestion. In fact, I planned to do that for a long time but I had a real technical problem: It takes me exactly one full hour to drive from Hussein Dey to Tamentfoust (where I have family). However, and on a sunny day, my phone (which I place on a dashboard phone holder to film these videos) overheats after 10 to 20 minutes of filming. I made two or three attempts to film that route but every time, the video was interrupted by the overheating of my phone. I later chose to film a series of videos where:
1- I drove from El Harrach to Ain Taya (via Rouiba) on an cloudy day: th-cam.com/video/gijkGiziGFE/w-d-xo.html
2- Then from Ain Taya to Tamentfoust: th-cam.com/video/7iweJQnfS4U/w-d-xo.html
Yet I'm planning on filming much more videos from the central neighborhoods of Algiers to Tamentfoust via Bordj El Kiffan, a route that I haven't driven yet :-)

    1:09 Chemin Sfindja

Chemin Sfindja... Such a beautiful place... Very few people know this area of Telemly. It's hidden... It as secret as the Tifariti garden itself... There is an air of mystery about it... Beautiful houses... Lush vegetation... Everything is green all year long... In 2007, I was exploring the area with my wife. We walked from Chemin 7 Merveilles (the Seven Wonders Road) to Cité des Fonctionnaires (an apartment complex on the top of the Tagarins Hill), before we took a short dirt path that led us to Chemin Sfindja. We enjoyed the walk and took some pictures. I find it magic to take such shortcuts. Walking in Telemly is amazing. You could go from there to any part of Central Algiers, Sidi M'hamed, El Biar, Bab El Oued, and the Casbah in no time. From Chemin Sfindja, you could walk to the Champ de Manoeuvre, Didouche Mourad, El Biar (via Bougara) and Poirson in just a few minutes when you know all the streets around there, and despite the fact that some distances are long and there are stairways in some places, the beauty of the neighborhood, its old colonial houses (and even some new beautiful houses) and its lush vegetation are such a pleasure to see and you would never get tired of them 🙂

@@Ibriden Your right my dear brother Chemin Sfindja is such a beautiful place, I used to live in the house with the black door at the entrance of Sfindja back in the 90s :). But now I live in Birkhadem. 🇩🇿

@@bmwfan4552 I'm very familiar with the whole area... The good thing about the area is this: You're at the heart of Algiers, you can walk wherever you want and you know almost every street and every corner from an area that stretches from Champ de Manouevre (in the east) to Bab El Oued (in the west) and from Tafourah (in the north?) to El Biar (in the south). In other words, if you were born and raised in that area, you'd pretty much know all of downtown Algiers :-) Very few people would be as lucky as that. Besides, the neighborhood (I'm talking about Telemly) also has a rich history and its people are very connected to culture. My elder brother (born in the early sixties) used to go to Parc de Galland to read books. He also used to play chess with friends in the Jardin du Palais (in front of the Palace of the Government, across from the Ouaguenouni Stadium). The old national library is at the western entrance of Telemly, and there two beautiful museums in Parc de Galland. Telemly has one of the most beautiful gardens in all of Algeria, the Beyrouth Garden, and inside that garden, there is also a small children's museum where the hold children's activities such as drawing. Even if you moved out of that neighborhood, my advise is that you visit it as often as possible. My cousins (who lived on Rue des Sept merveilles, on the other side of the neighborhood, ie its western part) moved to Tamentfoust sometime in the 1990s, too. Sadly, they interrupted all contact with it. But one of them recently went back there, he repurchased his old father's store and opened a pizzeria there. It's in front of the Sonelgaz head office (Pizzeria Choc) :-) Man, I love Telemly and I shall never stop loving it... Never...
